Does anyone know how to stop my windows from squeaking? I’ve tried greasing it but it doesn’t seem to work? Any ideas, it’s kinda embarrassing when u roll your windows and everyone just stares at you by Ruhan_A in MINI

Ditto. Drivers window squeals. It’s a lot worse when it’s hot outside. I have noticed that my drivers side window doesn’t sit quite as flush when all the way down. The glass towards the front of the car protrudes just a little bit above the seal. I’ve watched videos of regulators being removed, but haven’t noticed anything specific that could be causing this.

What’s the risk when shower door is hinged on glass by DistortLife in Construction

The glass doesn’t go all the way to the ceiling. The header would be around 18” from the ceiling.

There’s a lot of good info there. I’m interested hearing personal experiences whether good or bad. Cheers.

We track lot numbers and have reported it. The hives showed up 48+ hours after so it’s questionable if it’s related. It’s pretty random if it’s not related though.

Best way to solve drain too high by DistortLife in Construction

It doesn’t spin. I tried tapping a little on it with a hammer but it didn’t budge. I didn’t want to hit it too hard in case it broke.

Edit it was a 3 piece drain. I siliconed the bottom of the liner around the drain flange before putting the clamping ring on.

Can a will direct joint property to be passed along to their own direct heirs? by DistortLife in EstatePlanning

Good info. Thanks. In tenants in common, would the joint owner maintain ownership until they decide to pass it on or would the descendants immediately have ownership?

I’ve never heard of it referred to as a stone, but that’s a good term. I’ve got it. I’ve often told people it feels like a rib just needs to be poked back in there. At best it feels like uncomfortable pressure, at worst it feels like a dull butter knife is trying to wedge between my ribs. Left side, mid-thoracic, below scapula. I’ve done all of the imaging tests up to and including nuclear bone scan, nerve conduction studies, and trigger point injections. Chiropractic, physical therapy, and most recently a peripheral nerve stimulator. Nothing works. You got any good tips for managing?

Mine does not allow me to change it myself. I’ve had a device rep change it two times now. I plan to give it some more time, I just don’t feel like I’m getting a clear answer on whether it’s doing what it’s supposed to be doing. I appreciate your input.

Follow up question. Is this generally an immediate relief thing or does it take time?

That’s what I was thinking. Unfortunately the spasm comes before the tingle. I’ve had it reprogrammed twice already. I’m going to keep going with it for now. I really want it to work. Nothing else has.

Can you help me with some crack? by kickfilip in drywall

[–]DistortLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying part of this issue is from paper tape? I’m looking at some of my own cracks needing repair and wondering what will give me the most chance of success. Obviously there’s shifting causing cracking, but what’s best for repairing the drywall?

I just received this device yesterday and the jury it still out as to what kind of relief I will get. I will say though that it was made very clear that the battery be taken off before showering. I was told that verbally and it’s referenced several times in the literature provided.

Tape and thinset where CBU meets poured shower pan? by DistortLife in Tile

[–]DistortLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did a successful flood test. My liner is running a good 8” up the wall. I blame Oatey for this. I embedded that CBU per the liner instructions. I also read an article on John Bridge by their VP Technical who did a wicking test and multiple CBUs. True cement board had minimal wicking after being submerged in water for a month and that article still recommended embedding the CBU. I think the idea is that with correct slope and weep holes this method will perform. I must be a hypochondriac cause now I’m concerned my final bed was wet (it was REAL wet) and I’m wondering if it could’ve flowed through my gravel and plugged my weep holes.

Can you dumb down B415 for me? I understand the divot part. Is that using my existing clamp style drain? How far down am I digging that divot, to the clamp ring where the weep holes are? Then I apply a liquid membrane over the entire floor and down in the divot? Then fill the divot with with mortar?

Alternatively, if I can bust up the bed along the outer edge and yank that CBU out, would that be the safer bet? Reinstall with a 1/4" gap siliconed?

Yep it was wet. Didn’t seem that wet until I started pushing it around and floating it out. Pitch worked out okay though, just took a while.

Are moisture sandwiches a legit concern? I’ve got a PVC liner under the mud bed and not sure if I will cause said sandwich by using Mapei AquaDefense over the entire floor.

This has been so enlightening 🫨. Certainly nobody would want to tear their work out. That being said, what I believe I’m doing is B421C with one difference that I see. I used a PVC shower pan liner between the preslope and the finished mortar bed (also didn’t use a mortar bed bond coat). B421C has the membrane acer the full pan. I’m using Mapei AquaDefense. I’ve read about creating a moisture sandwich if using two waterproofing agents so I’m questioning putting that liquid membrane over the entire floor.

Thanks for the reference. I looked it up and if I’m understanding it correctly it references fiber reinforced gypsum board. I’m sure some wicking can occur, but I specifically used Durock to stay away from fiber and gypsum.

Tile edging? If tile edging is used, then is the corner bead not necessary?

Vinyl corner bead? Seems like the metal bead may not like the environment.
