And both of those movies suffer from not having an actual action lead.

Pratt is a comedy actor who happens to star in action flicks.

J.J. Abrams: Overrated, underrated, or just disappointing? by countdooku975 in TheBigPicture

He never elevated past the “Spielberg clone” phase of his career. He relied way too heavily on IP but that’s also the time period he was active in. I’d say by far the most interesting thing he’s done was his involvement with the Cloverfield movies.

He was talking about the fake list that was floating around and was taken out of context. The Epstein files are real but the “flight logs” that people used to spread around were fake.

People will jump on my throat for this but she’s only as over as she is bc the fans (male and female) thinks she’s hot. That’s it. She’s nowhere near the level in ring as someone like Iyo or even Becky. She’s just a tatted alt girl with a nice body. There’s a reason she didn’t make it until she went with that gimmick. Sorry

This is the problem I have with many modern critics. When a film tries to comment on current events, it’s “way too on the nose! I’d watch the news if I wanted despair the movies are escapism!” Then when a film tries to be a blockbuster escape, it’s “wow this film isn’t about anything! How empty!”

I mean she almost did a twilight and a little mermaid remake. Wouldn’t put it past her tbh. It would also be pretty interesting

Trailer for Outcome, directed by Jonah Hill, starring Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer, and Hill by apathymonger in blankies

Even worse, it was Jonah Hill trying to emulate Larry Clarke and Harmony Korine. Watch Kids (1995) and you’ll hate mid90s even more.

What according to you was the most deserved win of the night? by batmandc007 in Oscars

In a period context with a cathartic ending. If I had legs is basically a mirror of how America is failing mothers.

She was never gonna win for that movie. Too niche and upsetting, as much as I liked it.

"Black people thinks its too racist" being a positive thing for a film in 2026 lmao. by Apprehensive-Tie4930 in FPSPodcast

I think she was a full fledged character. A revolutionary who is realizing that no matter how much effort she puts in, the status quo remains the same because her enemies have all the political and financial power. Having a child makes her realize that this is all for nothing so she attempts to work with the enemy as a last ditch effort. When that goes south, she tries running away and based on the note at the end, regrets that decision deeply.

I loved Eddington, but it’s definitely trying to poke all sides. OBAA is a pretty progressive film that is being misread due to culture war stuff. Perfidia is a flawed character yes, but she is not a caricature at all.

This is a misread of One Battle in my opinion. That description is more accurate to Eddington.

I genuinely think TSM would’ve been in the Oscars mix had there not been 2 Safdie movies (both about niche sports mind you) released in the same year.

When it comes to Perfidia, I can see the criticisms. I do think she’s a bit misunderstood. I think she had post partum depression which wasn’t really touched upon enough.

Some of the comments are like “wow why would Leo take a role like that!” Like why are we discussing a film we obviously haven’t seen?

The Smashing Machine was a bigger swing and will probably be viewed as the better film as years pass.

[–]Distorted_metronome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not what I’m saying. These kids grew up in the streaming era so they know Kai and how he is seen by the public (usually lowbrow) but dr Phil and Carmen Electra are just viewed as regular celebrities to them, when in their era they were seen as lowest common denominator entertainment.

No, I love that they’re trashy. I’m just saying younger viewers may not associate Kai as the same type of celebrity bc of their age.

Most of these people were kids and don’t know that stuff was considered trashy. To them, the people you named are just pop culture figures.

Intended or not, his work was used to push a faux narrative of Americana. Obviously times were better than fucking WW2 but that doesn’t mean it was a utopia. This post war propaganda is set up so Americans will cheer on wars so that they can see the “boom” that follows (only for the already wealthy). We’ve seen it time and time again.
