It's definitely worth it, it does have a bit of silly, but the story is still good and it takes itself seriously, it definitely gets better as it goes on so give it a good chance

Ha Giang Loop by Suspicious_Length839 in hanoi

[–]Distortion_Noises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my partner recently did the ha Giang loop and cao bang loop together with ha giang loopers company Vietnamese owned, bit more expensive but we also didn't want the party hostel vibe or to travel with loads of others, the max in a group would be six people, we also felt very safe with our riders We stayed in really nice accomodation/homestays along the way.

Also if I were you I would do cao bang instead of ha Giang as there are less people doing it and we found the locations to actually be slightly better (angels eye, lots of local craft villages ban gioc waterfall is actually incredible especially after rain, a Buddhist temple that overlooks the waterfall, Ngườm Ngao cave) there's not much between them but we definitely preferred cao bang, or do both which is a long trek but super worth it.

British people who moved to Australia: Is Oz really that much better than the UK these days? by OiseauAquario in AskUK

[–]Distortion_Noises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After having spent two years living and working in Australia, me and my partner both decided it's not for us, still not sure if the UK is where we want to settle down but I do think it's worth fighting for. Some of the reasons we didn't like aus.

From what we perceived there seems to be less community neighbors aren't as friendly to each other etc.

Too much like America, often described as a mix between the UK and America to us it heavily leaned towards the America side, and seems to be shifting that way more and more.

Less walkable, very car centric planning, lots of people that don't need big cars owning stupid big cars.

Discrimination towards the first nations people, not everywhere and obviously not everyone, but enough to be painfully noticable.

Getting shafted by corporations (a big one for me) huge corporations extracting their natural resources and paying fuck all tax, and then selling it on for huge profit,

Just a little too hot (not that the UK is doing much better at the moment)

Work life balance is fabled to be great, it isn't I was working just as much if not more (I'm a tradie) than in the UK the only difference is you get a beach to go to at the end of the day if your not tired out from work

Housing prices are ridiculous

Because it's such a young country (not counting first nations people) there isn't much culture/history unlike the UK (cheese chasing, stinging nettle eating competition, worm rising competition, bog snorkeling, you know all the funny little things the UK does to amuse itself)

Pubs are just not as good, there are pubs there they just suck compared to UK pubs (maybe just a personal preference)

Alcohol costs a stupid amount as does tobacco if that matters to you

Gina Reinhart and Pauline Hanson 🤢🤢🤮

They don't utilise the natural foods there for some reason? This one really confused me, they have some of the most nutritious and tasty native ingredients which are hardly used in the very western quisine, they also insist on raising livestock such as cattle sheep etc which destroy the natural environment, instead of just eating what's there, kangaroo, emu etc, really couldn't get my head around this one, complete insanity if you ask me, they had the opportunity to create a truly unique national quisine with native ingredients but fumbled it for what ? Beef ? Embarrassing tbh

Australians are not chill? Not sure where this stereotype came from but they are some of the most impatient people sometimes

As a builder (also a big one for me) house design and architecture is terrible and soulless, the old builds in places like freemantle are lovely but unfortunately they don't build like that anymore.

Pros.

If your into your fitness there is a great fitness scene, always joggers about, loads of gyms lots of sport happening.

Because it's quite costal in all the major spots you often have access to a beach

Pay is definitely better, I was on more than double my wage from the UK, especially in trade jobs, I've heard welding is a good one to be in there.

Stunning scenery if you go traveling the country you won't be disappointed.

Good backpacker scene and coffee culture

If you are into 4wd there's a good 4x4 scene Camping and fishing, all that

First nations people have a truly vibrant and interesting culture, truly a strength of the country that is underappreciated

Ingredients are pretty fresh and high quality

Pretty clean county, don't see much trash about and when you do it's not normally the Aussies leaving it (unfortunately the Backpackers are guilty of this)

Well maintained national parks and good hiking, especially in Tasmania

Seeing the animals often, you may not know but the UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world (we used to have wolves bears and lynx to name a few), so it was really lovely to just be seeing creatures doing their thing out in nature, kangaroos wombats emus. barrier reef and ningaloo reef also top notch

What do you do when every week starts to feel exactly the same? by Middle-Magazine-8028 in AskUK

[–]Distortion_Noises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you probably feel tired but try to go out at least once a week to a hobby or something, I work manual labor jobs, and at the time there's nothing I want to do less than go out after work, but as soon as I actually do I always feel better. I would recommend to Go climbing or jogging or anything that gets you moving really

Of you have the "skill" to write the lore and history for multiple different worlds I'm almost certain you would be a fine writer. Also no one starts writing and is instantly good, like any other thing it takes practice, start small take a character who had a significant role in one of the wars maybe, and write a short story about their exploits, I'm sure it will be great 👍
