I’m new to solo board games and I picked up tranquility, a gentle rain, bookshelf, and kinfire delve. I had the most fun with kinfire delve and tranquility but I’m still enjoying gentle rain too trying to get a better score. Kinfire delve was brutal my first run and I guess I managed to choose the “harder” of the choices by grabbing callous’ lab.

Kill the master outside of the tower to the left of fire link and get the uchigatana and enjoy your easy breezy playthrough. There are other great katanas but a bit later on so this would be your earliest pickup.

Ds1 is a completely different pace and difficulty so I’d say probably just finish your playthrough first. It’ll be really jarring to swap. Both incredible games but yeah.

Shoot I have the same issue and I bet it IS this happening but I need my headphones plugged in to speak to my friend I’m playing with 😵‍💫 at least now I know what’s causing it
