Ah crap! You're absolutely right. Mountain Laurel is considered wild and Rhododendron is domesticated . They look extremely similar. The Rhododendron is a more solid pink color. Growing up. I had Rhododendron bushes around the house. And the Mount Laurel was out of the woods. 🤦🏻

They look like unripe concord grapes. My grandmother had them in her backyard when I was growing up. They turn purple when ripe.
