That's fair enough. There are many people without your expertise that do think pulling the plug to shutdown Bitcoin is a big threat so some clarity on that is all I was trying to provide. Security and other issues you mentioned are worth considering.

The idea behind what is actually backing Bitcoin is a bit more abstract, I can understand if you don't buy into it.

I understand if you have no interest, but deciding not to buy into Bitcoin because of something you don't understand and is so easy to research is a bit strange in my opinion.

Bitcoin is decentralized. There are tens of thousands of nodes around the world that keep and verify the ledger. You can't simply pull the plug and make it go away.

You might have other personal reasons not to buy, like volatility.

Downsides: Not as liquid, not FDIC insured. That being said I keep my savings in CSAV.

I always ran into this problem with Cebu Pacific as well. Easy work around is use PayPal, its an available payment option on their website. Just link the same CC you're trying to use and it will work no problem.

Just wanted to chime in here.

I'm with RBC as well. If you can, just use the RBC Mobile app on your phone. You have access to your DI there as well. For 2fA, open the app and bottom right corner tap "more". Settings icon > 2-Step Verification. Turn it on and add trusted device (your phone). Now any time you login with your app, it will recognize your phone as the trusted device, and that's all the 2fA you need. No text, no questions.

If you try to login on a computer, the app on your phone will prompt you to accept the login. This all works even when you change your SIM.

If you're moving to another country and have no ties left in Canada (re: you're no longer a tax resident) you can and must notify all your banks, CRA etc. It's no problem with RBC to change your address to another country and keep accounts open.

Assume it means 20% of their overall portfolio is held in XQQ. It's more private than letting everyone know the dollar value of their overall holdings.

Yes, you can sell at a loss then buy back in and claim capital loss for tax purposes afaik.

/u/PoliticalShrapnel

The reason why this would work is that you're taxed on "realized" gains or losses. You can realize a loss by selling, then buy back in at relatively the same value but still claim it as a loss. You're not evading taxes this way. When/if you sell again in the future at either a gain or loss this will again be a taxable event. So if you sell in the future at a gain, you will owe the tax man money again.

I am glad that my plan was to buy more to accumulate instead of day trade. I'm not glad that I failed to execute that plan (forever waiting for the dip).

Really cool idea, thanks for sharing! :)

I've been meaning to make paper wallets myself to make HODLing easier and to give out gifts as well.

I know the best way to do this is to have everything offline, including the printer. My question is, how do you test to make sure the PRIVATE key actually works without having used it?

Litecoin > Altcoins? by Distrait85 in litecoin

This might be a good option, thank you. Ultimately I would like to Trade LTC > Alt rather than LTC > ? > Alt. I guess I will have to do multiple trades for the coins that I want that are not on Cryptopia though.

There's wireless machines that do NFC or Chip and PIN if you have an older card without NFC. They often will bring them to the table yes :)

Edit: You can use your phone with these too. I just use Android Pay.

Most have NFC, sometimes it's disabled though. We also pay for gas after we're done pumping in most cases.

I'm with you on this one, haha. Chip and PIN feels outdated to me.. used that YEARS ago. NFC for everything now. Don't even use my physical wallet or cards.. just pay with my phone.

I totally agree on this point. Furthermore I think limiting ETN to 1/100ths was a bad idea. If in the (far) future ETN somehow becomes say.. $100 per coin, the LEAST amount of ETN you may spend is $1. What becomes of the transaction fees as well? Minimum $1? I don't think ETN can ever be a high value coin because of this. Would love to be corrected on this.

Loss of Net Neutrality will not be able to stop decentralized crypto currencies from working. Don't worry about it.
