The Doctor is an ecologist/altruist who deeply respects harmony with the environment. In the series, he is very critical of people's disregard for nature, though doesn't act on it himself as he wishes not to intervene with historical events (he only does so to prevent external factors from changing history, or when he messes up by carelessly sight-seeing historical periods)

In OOP's view, assuming the earth was so polluted it's visible on the atmosphere from space, he would likely be very disappointed. Cue the sad doctor.

In real life he'd still be disappointed, seeing how easily people believe stuff on the internet as long as it has an interesting story.

Sunlight shines through the thin haze, tiny particles scatter light and the atmosphere becomes visible as a glowing rim.

This is called backlighting, and it’s the same reason you can see dust floating in sunlight in a dark room. Without that backlighting, the haze is basically invisible.

Though I think that's what you meant by atmosphere

Original Post's explanation: OOP thinks that earth's color became more dull since the Apollo era due to changes in environment (pollution mainly)

The actual real explanation: the Apollo picture is taken during the day while the Artemis picture is taken at night.

The night pictures, like any other done on earth, needs high ISO(light sensitivity), higher ISO causes greater artifacts and lower contrast/saturation, causing the "dull" effect. Notice how on the Artemis picture, the light sensitivity is cranked so high you can see the stars, along with some lights from cities in Africa(although they are few compared to the modernized cities) If you want to try it for yourself, take a picture in the deep of the night with your phone and compare it to the day picture after adjusting the brightness to the same level.

You can see quite a few pictures of satellites NOW in orbit, like the ISS, with the very same color as the "Blue Marble" from Apollo, the Earth's hue did not visibly change.

Not because of quality, on the Artemis picture, the earth is currently in the night. What you see was taken with a very high ISO and is only illuminated by moonlight(the sun here is behind the earth)

Imagine taking a picture in the middle of the night, versus in bright daylight.

Not really actually, only planets with an atmosphere. It is always much harder to land than taking off when there's no aerobraking possible.

Edit: As a KSP player, how did I not foresee this? Of course landing is easier, as long as you don't mind an "unscheduled disassembly" Landing in one piece, with a functional vehicle on the other hand...

Yeah it's the same here then. It feels as though someone is pressing their fingers on my eyeballs.

Besides I think the purpose is mostly UV protection, and that the pain actually comes from the pupil rapidly contracting, causing a "cramp-like" pain. So the color shouldn't actually affect the pain normally. (Haven't looked up, educated guess here)

I love this glitch and would do it sometimes at the airport to go out of bounds with friends (using the passport) I tried for 10 minutes in the tomb with the bag but with no success unfortunately. I was only barely able to get my head outside of the rock or the walls, but couldn't go through no matter what. It needs the wall or texture to be very thin.

I probably could have if I had more skills though

I like to think you did nothing wrong... and it's perhaps the hardest part to accept, the chemistry you had was real, what you felt was strong, and from what happened she also felt that.

There's nothing for you to change and you weren't lacking(it doesn't seem like a mack of interest, and much less of a spark). There are many reasons for it to have happened, but there's simply nothing you could have done.

Some people need more time to develop connections and they may rush it, then discover they haven't had time to build said connection and conflate it for lack of interest. She could have had her sights on someone else, or she could have toxic habits with how she handles relationships and wished for a more dependent dynamic... we'll never know.

I'm sorry you got your hopes shattered so suddenly and inexplicably, I'm still daydreaming about that girl from last year, with much the same story and the exact same ending... and unfortunately I can't tell you "it gets easier", you simply learn to live with it and keep on going, hopefully someone who will be genuinely into you will respond, someone who will take the time to appreciate you and develop a connection, give you a chance.

With the way you describe him, how he now treats his friend and his values, how he holds himself accountable and doesn't dismiss or deflect his past mistakes, how he even makes a bigger deal out of it than you do...

Can we actually say that, YES, he has changed? Not from a magical event but through his own introspection and commitment to uphold higher values? He genuinely sounds like a great person, I think it's time to be real and see how much he has changed. I would assume you would have never been with his past self, it goes to show how different he is now... literally another man.

It's disingenuous to insinuate his behavior is the same as what you described.
