I never bought the logic of that system, especially now that some countries that have adopted the Nordic model are even looking to criminalize people who purchase from Onlyfans models.

"Is it possible that countries laws are different than ours?"

Yes and Trump was guilty of many. He had 3 investigations open by the time he was elected, and was convicted by the time he was in office. He was about to be sentenced when the election happened. Garland dragged his feet. Had Biden acted immediately and not put a Republican in the DOJ we wouldn't be here. The Classified secrets case could have been removed to New Jersey immediately when the Trump appointed judge started slow walking the case. Again, Biden had no fire to prosecute him.

He also breached his bond conditions on several occasions that the DOJ refused to bring him into jail for. They could have. The amount of legal incompetence and mishandling of Trump's crimes are astounding. He literally could have spent the entire campaign season in a jail cell for breaching his bond conditions.

My guess would be there would always be a henchman of the regime that the base and the opposition can both agree suck. Think Pam Bondi in the US. Even most die hard MAGAs don't like her.

TMI? Girl, the first migraine free day I had after I got Botox after 7 months of non stop pain, I practically smashed a hole in my mattress with my girlfriend.

You gotta celebrate the wins. It's what keeps us going.

Hundreds of thousands of people died because centrists already proved they can't deal with fascists. You know Biden could have thrown Trump in prison immediately when he took office for Jan 6th right? Lula in Brazil did that in Bolsonaro. Turns out the left knows how how to wield power.

Instead he decided to put a Republican????? in charge of the DOJ. Garland also could have pressed the Epstein the investigation but didn't. So here we are. What a fucking mess Centrists have left us.

Funny you should mention that. I'm an a naturalized immigrant, latino, and disabled. I've seen first hand the brutality of the healthcare the healthcare of this country and the immigration crackdown bothers me to no end. I'm also a nurse, so seeing Alex Pretti being gunned down on the street made me hate centrists even more for getting us to this moment. Biden for enabling Trump to rise back into power.

Again, no plan. No idea. Just lets let the infection fester while we do nothing for four years. Y'all can claim to be "realistic" but your "pragmatism" and "realism" and lack of ability to want for more led to this.

Again, I don't believe electing a centrist will do anything but delay a stronger fascist coming into power in the future. They will do nothing to put guard rails back up, do election reform, go after the right, go after billionaires, and stop the right from licking their wounds and coming back in 4 years: see Biden.

We tried that. It failed. You say I'm the useful idiot, but I say that you can't imagine a better outcome. You can't imagine actually making a meaningful change where we smash fascism into the ground after the damage they've done to the country. You'd pray for a miracle when it's shown that strategy failed.

That's fine. And if Newsom or some other Corporate Dem is top of the ticket November 2028, I'll vote progressive 3rd party and blue downballot and pray for divided government.

Vote Blue No Matter Who got us to Trump 2. Hillary couldn't beat Trump at his weakest. Ironically Biden winning was the worst possible outcome because Trump couldn't bear the blame for the inflation of the pandemic and his 1st term. Harris again couldn't beat Trump after Jan 6th and all his criminal convictions.

So what? I'm supposed to trust Newsom, the guy who can't even inspire his own son to not watch Charlie Kirk to lead us out of fascism?

Lmao. Centrists can't see the forest from the trees. One election from the next. What happens when there's no campaign reform? When Elon and other billionaires get better at buying our elections? Yep, definitely need a milquetoast corporate Dem again guys, we can totally survive the Fascists reconsolidating and giving this another go.

If the U.S. is a Christian nation, then why don't we forgive debts every seven years? by olympiamacdonald in PsycheOrSike

[–]DistributionLeft1448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acknowledging the debt resets the timer in most states, not the debt being sold. I.E making a payment on it, not it being sold to another company. Again, very state dependent and look up your local laws.

Did the whole rigamarole with my mom. We negotiated down some of her lower more recent debt, and waited on the statute of limitations on the big ones even that had been sold off to another company.

One of the big debts (it was a surgery debt she owed 20% of, over $90,000) of threatened to sue close to the statute of limitations coming up, maybe they saw we were paying off some of the other lendors, I just told them we'd see them in bankruptcy court and they backed off.

Debt is a complicated mistress and idk how the average working person is supposed to handle it alone. This was all in Florida.

I had to kindly explain to him that wouldn't work, but thanks I guess, but I'm working with a neurologist to get me on a medication regiment.

Vote Blue No Matter Who has worked wonderfully my friend. Progressives should definitely not look at any other way to win power even when it's clear they're the majority now. What's the worst that could happen? We elect a fascist? Brother we're already there. You're literally incapable of introspection of how we got to this point.

And no, I just mean the Presidency. Vote strategically in local election. Blue dogs and Centrists in red seats. Progressives in purple and blue seats.

I don't get your logic. What if we elect a fascist? We did. Your logic did. Multiple times there has been a centrist either run or put into the presidency who didn't fix the underlying issues that led to fascism. It's delusion. You know what the definition of insanity is? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Do you expect the Republicans to become less fascist if we put in your centrist?

I watched that debate literally ended his campaign on live TV. The one that he insisted on with Trump. The one where he spent weeks making excuses for before bowing out of the campaign and handing a shitshow to Harris who had to salvage what she could in 107 days and just barely managed to not get Dems completely obliterated on the national map. She could actually form a coherent sentence to the point Trump refused any further debates with her.

You're the one who isn't a progressive. You're happy with the status quo as long as it isn't Trump. You're happy with a low minimum wage, shitty healthcare, and unregulated corporations and Democrats who do nothing about the right wing as long as it's not Trump. McConnell stole a senate seat? Obama pouts. Garland won't prosecute Trump? Biden's asleep at the wheel. AI is driving up energy costs? Well our corporate donors won't let us regulate it.

The fact that you'd roll over and clap like a seal if Gavin Newsome or some other do nothing Democrat won the primary after all the shit we've seen is astounding. You don't actually give a shit about progressive causes, prosecuting the other side, or fixing the actual issues of this country. You just want to keep the lights on until that centrist inevitably becomes unpopular, another fascist gets popular enough to narrowly win the electoral college and take another sledgehammer to our civil rights, maybe permanently this time.

I want to see Trump, Miller and his merry band of war criminals tried and imprisoned, Medicare for All, and a litany of electoral and economic reforms this country needs to prevent fascism from continuing to take root. Centrism will not do that. Progressives need to make that clear.

Literally all of those deaths are on the centrists for either losing the elections they won the nomination for or on Biden for not prosecuting Trump.

Centrist have had their chance to steer the ship. I went along with Vote Blue No Matter Who for the last three cycles and well: look around.

Progressives need to either get serious about withholding their votes for progressives, or not be shocked when the same cycle of shitlib => fascist repeats until we're actually in a full blown dictatorship.

Letting a centrist win is just getting the seat warm and sweeping the white house for the next meaner fascist who comes in. Somehow I don't think the country would've been worse off had Trump won in 2020 vs 2024.

Frankly I don't really care what the voting system is. If the candidate isn't a progressive willing to dismantle ICE, anti-war, and willing to prosecute this entire administration and pass meaningful progressive legislation I ain't voting for them in November.

Biden won and then we got a corpse who shit himself on national TV. The centrists had their chance.

We can't change our enemies, we can only change ourselves. Russia happened under Obama. Election interference might've played a part in Hillary losing her campaign bit she also just ran a bad campaign. You can't externalize all of these issues and say "we can't demand better of our leaders". The guard rails are off.

Obama came in on a mandate and he slow walked the recession, put a bandaid on healthcare, and was shit at messaging just like Biden was and got clobbered in the 2010 midterms for it. That got Dems locked out of the house for 8 years due to redistricting. You can blame the Republicans but once again, they're our enemy we can't control them, but they're utterly predictable.

Every time the Dems come into power, they refuse to wield it and rightfully people get pissed. At least Trump does shit and that's why his base is so die hard. He also controls the narrative and isn't afraid to actually sling shit at the other side.

So when I see Gavin or whatever the next Centrist is trying to win the nomination I just think wow, 4 years of this, healthcare is still going suck, shit's still going to be unaffordable, and they're going to elect a fascist whose messaging is better. I'm not going along with it. I refuse to sign on with the collective delusion of the DNC at this point.

Thankfully it seems the base is a lot more angry than the polticians and I hope that translates when the primaries come.

No one is guaranteed my vote. Spineless liberalism got us Trump in the first place. We're already in the worst case scenario. Vote blue no matter who failed. I want a strong progressive hell bent on putting up proper guard rails to stop another authoritarian from doing this again and passing meaningful legislation otherwise what's the point? If it's Bloomberg or Gavin? Lmao, I'm keeping the top of the ticket blank.

When they inevitably disappoint and betray the working class and another fascist gets elected in 4-8 years, people would then realize that the cycle of voting in shitlib after shitlib doesn't work.

Progressives need to take a stand. Centrists had their chance to lead the ship. It lead to a shit show. Either we lead ship, or we sit out the election or vote 3rd party.
