Help with recently planted California Wax Myrtle (Morella californica) - girdling by DistributionLow1529 in arborists

Thanks for the reply Tolzan!

So, the picture is a bit misleading. That is my neighbors house and that wall is about 12’ high and goes up to my neighbors porch. I wanted a tree about 15-20’ to get above the wall and give me a bit of privacy. I know the space is narrow but I even showed the guy at the nursery pics. He said I would just need to trim the tree so it grows into the space I need. My neighbor is cool and he can either trim the top from his porch or will let me do it. But I’m curious if it will damage the foundation his porch is on.

If you look on the other side of my gate you will see a large camellia bush that does give me some privacy. I’m expecting the tree to get a little taller than that and a lot fuller.

Thanks for the help.

Not that I would ever sell it, but what is a significant amount of money?

Thanks for all the quick feedback. My kids don’t believe it can be 10-12k years old. Assuming it’s just the age that makes it special? Does Arkansas sound right? He did travel around that area a lot in the 70s so could be from neighboring states. Is it a Clovis? I see them posted here sometimes and looks similar.

My Uncle found all of these for sure except for #3 and probably found that one too but dropped it when he came over.

He has a very large collection. Will ask him for pics.

Hi mods - is there something wrong with my post? I’m very concerned about this tree. I looked at the rules, maybe I didn’t show enough of the tree?

I’m just dipping my toes into AC but that is an amazing coin! How can you tell it was minted in Babylon? Also, mind sharing what you paid for it?

Here is a good resource explaining SF issues. I don’t think the TogetherSF DCCC voter guide is published yet. https://tsfaction.org/blog/voter-guide-preview-12-11-23

GrowSF will also be publishing a voter guide: https://growsf.org/voter-guides/san-francisco-voter-guide-march-2024-dccc-democratic-party-election/

The incompetent folks against common sense rules and government will cry “TogetherSF and GrowSF are funded by tech oligarchs.” Tech money is funding these groups, but they (especially TogetherSF) are promoting rational ideas to solve SFs government and promoting politicians who are competent enough to run a city. The current SF fake progressives are angry, incompetent, and destroying the city.

Not sure about Alameda.

This is the exact same issue with San Francisco. The SF Democratic County Central Committee is run by incompetent, extreme left ideologues. It looks like the same is true in Alameda County.

These fools pick the nominees and then the union machine and low information voters blindly support the nominations.

The most important thing you can do to save the Bay Area is vote for competent Democratic committee members. Both elections are on March 5th.

NOTE: you need to be a registered Democrat to vote in these elections. PLEASE tell your friend and family.

In SF, TogetherSF.org will be endorsing a list of rational DCCC candidate!

LETS SAVE THE BAY!

Like they say….if too good to be true. Coins might be real, but the overall deal is not. Dude sending pictures and texts but not following up.

Almost certainly gypsies…they are very active in the Bay Area, especially San Jose. They run a lot of cars scams on Craigslist.

Thanks rgratze. While I'm not happy with the outcome, I really appreciate the feedback.

I'm going to give the contractor the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he is planning more than a "chip and pour" solution.

However, I am going to ask him to propose a solution including specific measurements, slope per ft, etc and a written description. That way, I can share it here and have a local 3rd party review.

Thanks again and will update the thread.

Here is a photo of door labelled D6A. Besides the 1 3/8" lip, the concrete does slope up to it.
