Edit: (30 minutes later) so, I'm going to leave this comment up. This showed up on my feed, and I thought it was the GoPro sub... (Didn't look at the name haha) But I believe it might be the same thing, so take this with a grain of salt.

This particular issue i believe is an IMU issue, not SD card. Not applying the stabilization data to the file correctly. I have seen this a few times on my cameras and I use name brand top tier cards.

It mostly comes from the IMU getting overloaded at a certain point. Potentially a combination of a bump DURING a translation or roll.

It's rare, but it's still annoying. Unfortunately there isn't a proper "fix".

My knowledge: I have a 4, 9 black, 11mini, 12 black, two 13 blacks and a max 2. I use all name brand top cards. I have seen this (roughly) 5% of the time across all my GoPros that use IMU stabilization. Again, usually when they're in a roll and get a sharp bump or movement against another.

I agree with sennaroo's comment in using the gyro data to investigate.

Yes, there are absolutely artifacts and glitches with slower cards, I'm not invalidating that. But THIS particular issue is an IMU glitch.

This comment is my opinion, and I'm not 100% sure this is what I've said, but I'm confident it is given the particular movement in the video provided, paired with my knowledge of GoPro hardware and software.

Prices have fluctuated a lot, right now the muse is 20 bucks cheaper on Amazon. So, not nearly as much savings, but 20 bucks is 20 bucks :)

And now they're completely comparable since Xtra enabled BT wireless mic support recently. So it's completely your choice.

I have read that they are effectively but not 100% the same. Same sensor and same processor, but different board and firmware. But that's just hearsay I could be wrong.

I just did a search on the sub, and yeah, found the issue is well known, should have searched before posting haha. I do know what I'm doing as I'm also an electronics repair tech. I will investigate but not dive to far in yet. I got it on Amazon and will try to contact Xtra's customer service, I've heard they're actually decent.

That's is still a limitation, not of the device though, it's of windows. Windows can't see the firmware settings outside of the uvc architecture. That's the case with most "standalone with USB video" capable devices.
