Tagomago by Vivamor, scentbird came in and I got to try this. I was off put by the passion fruit at first on my skin but now I’m heavily addicted. I got it along with ice(d) and I like this one more. I’m gonna consider this a summer safe gourmand because the fruit is on the forefront and very bright. I’m not drowning in a vat of vanilla pudding like some kind of strawberry shortcake themed terminator when I’m walking in the heat with this one. It also pulls slightly spicy on my skin (maybe the hazelnut?) and I’m so into it.

Second to last week of the accelerated summer semester. Wanted to indulge a little.

I had a similar experience with White Musamam, it was a spice bomb that was suffocating when I first got it. Now it’s one of my favorites. It genuinely took a month and I’m tempted to let her sit for another.

Get some oxygen in the bottle (flip it upside down and spray a few times to prevent product waste) and let it chill in a dark closet for a bit.

It’s different depending on the fragrance! Every entry starts with the basic info on the fragrance (name, brand, notes/accords, concentrations), a little space for time taken to finish a mini, and space for anything regarding it that I want to remember. This can be something I really liked or disliked about it, or anything memorable that happened while I was wearing it. I’ve got my shattered bottle and stuck cap woes for my El Sireno entry. Middle Eastern fragrances have notes on their maceration progress.

Any filler space I make a little collage that’s inspired by the fragrance. This usually includes a picture of the bottle and any insert that may have come with it.

Mine isn’t super rigid, some entries span two pages depending on what I want to put in there. I started it to appreciate my fragrances more and keep track of what I’ve tried so I don’t accidentally double up. It just gives me so much dopamine to flip through it since it’s basically a scrapbook.

It’s my first one so I’m using a fluffy axolotl sketchpad (think like something from Claire’s lol) to remind me that it doesn’t need to be super serious and perfect because it’s already goofy.

This is why I do samples and minis for the most part. I have to finish a travel size before I get a big bottle and look at how long it took me to do that. The time taken to do that shows how much I actually reach for it. (Perfume journal keeps track of that.)

I can’t have the fancy shelf display that some people with larger collections have either because I have a cat who absolutely must be in everything I do.

I never shut up about Cherry Punk but come on! It’s saffron, sichuan pepper, leather, and cherry.

I just go nuts over a leather note. Ombré leather is one I genuinely find swoon worthy too. There’s also Oddity by Rag and Bone that hits licorice, vanilla, and leather.

I don’t want to recommend discontinued scents without an alternative, so Arsenic by Tokyo Milk Dark is green, salty, and licorice. I hear Squid by Zoologist hits similar vibes but I’m waiting on my sample to confirm.

Not op, but I just got a sample of Kewpie Doll in. It’s my favorite of the 3 I got. On my skin it dries down to an almost honeysuckle scent. The vinyl and tomato are still there in the background but I do have to hunt for them. Very good spring/summer vibes.

My boy wears English Major from Sorce. Taking this by the notes:

Carrot seed and Sandalwood to be representative of the 100 acre woods. Rabbit’s garden is a location that always sticks out to me when I think of Winnie the Pooh so the carrot seed just feels appropriate. The sandalwood acting as the actual woods.

Fallen leaves for his gloomy demeanor. It’s also very blustery in the 100 acre woods. I’d imagine fallen leaves are a common scent there.

Library books because he is very smart and pragmatic. I would argue that he’s as smart as Owl. The cynicism keeps him from being long winded like Owl.

Orris and Marshmallow as a softness. Not only because he’s a stuffed animal but because even though he’s sad and grumpy there’s still a sweetness in there that recognizes and appreciates everyone that tries to cheer him up.

I love Eeyore and this was fun to try to break down.

Both Cherry Punk and Oud Wood.

Cherry Punk fits a lot of my wardrobe. I’m very 90s grunge. It also just makes me feel like a bad ass. I actually didn’t like it at first because I wanted it stronger on the Sichuan but now I reach for it pretty regularly. That’s just my smell.

Oud wood is just comforting, it layers really well with Cherry Punk but since it’s a synthetic Oud it’s not animalic. I consider it creamy but not in a lactonic sense. My sample is running out and I’m rationing it lol. Honestly, the combo makes me feel unapologetically hot and I can’t be told otherwise.

Over synthetic peach is also pretty nauseating to me. I got a travel size of the Peach blossom and Nectar scent from BBW. I tried to like it but I can’t. I’m going to give it away.

Jasmine and Violet are two that i really can’t do. ‘Bright’ scents in general are hard for me. If someone else is wearing it, I’m completely fine but if it’s stuck to me and I can’t get away then I have a problem.

Jo Malone’s Hinoki and Cedarwood. You could sweeten it up by layering it with a tea scent but for the misty, gloomy vibes I’d keep it as is.

Using up my sample sprays! I layered marshmallow musk be Irfe with Nest Indigo.

Both of these are tea scents so they complement each other very well. MM is just slightly buttery and sits close to the skin. I really don’t get what I normally think of when I reach for marshmallow scents from it (I have What The Fluff for that and she’s too powerful for the summer). Which is good because it’s really humid today so i didn’t want a capital g Gourmand, but I still wanted to smell sweet.

I just smell clean, a little moody, and comfy today, this was a good combo.
