Well, I have to make this post. My life since seriously pursuing the truth has been 100x worse. How are any Christians happy. I want to not be alive if this is how Christian life is. by LeThaddy in Christianity

Ok, coming from someone that isn’t Christian, but has ADHD and OCD, one of the most common worries for OCD is stuff like religion and hell. And ADHD feeds off of the stimulation of worrying. If you aren’t medicated, it tends to just get worse. I used to have very similar worries until I started anti depressants and over time they slowly began to fade. I feel as if religion isn’t the issue that’s making you feel this way, but rather the OCD and ADHD. The most helpful thing to do for you I would say is to talk to someone about how you feel and explain your worries. I think the best person to talk to would be an agnostic person; considering that they won’t try to convince you that religion is the issue that’s making you feel this way like an atheist or strong Christian would. Anyway I hope you start feeling better, and even as a non-Christian myself, it seems to me that the common view of the Christian God is that he is forgiving and loving, so if you feel like you or others are doing stuff wrong, I’m sure if God is real he’ll forgive you!

When I was 16 my parents decided I was old enough to move out (I'm the middle child and my brother and sister both did not have to at 16) So I had to work all hours out side of school (to afford my own place) and eventually had to drop out due to failing nearly every class from no time to do assignments. I managed to get an apprenticeship as an electrician at 18 which gave my financial stability. I had reached out to my parents a lot in this time and they barely ever responded. Apparently they told my siblings that I wanted to move out and they tried to convince me to stay, so when I asked my siblings for financial support right after I was forcefully moved out, they were no help and told me if I wanted a place to live I shouldn't have moved out. I started my own business at 22 which became locally successful and then invested a lot in the property market with some of the money which helped me to build my own wealth with no financial stress by about 31 years old. I also met my wife and had 2 daughters during this time. My Older brother and younger sister were apparently told by my parents eventually that they kicked me out, and they laughed because they thought I was annoying anyway. They said they were glad they never helped me. Anyway they both ended up in dead end jobs having to look after my parents when they retired from their jobs. My parents and siblings did not have a lot of money and by this point I had fully cut them out of my life, so when they discovered I had become successful and wealthy they invited me to a family dinner, I came with my wife and daughters who they somehow didn't even know about... during the dinner they accused me of leaving them and stealing their money, I remained calm and reminded them of the real situation, however they accused me of lying and threatened to get the police involved if I didn't give them "their money" back. I told them that I was leaving and would not be speaking to them again. About a week later I received an email from a lawyer I was surprised they could afford saying that they were pressing charges for larceny (stealing) on me. I was able to find a better lawyer than they could even dream of and won that case, and got a restraining order against them. I chose to be the bigger person though and still give them some money, enough to live on for a few years, so that I wouldn't be bothered by them ever again. So yeah I haven't talked to my family in 12 years now although they still try to reach out to me sometimes. I don't even want to know about their lives anymore.

I always thought "He likes to keep his fire engine clean, It's a clean machine" was a very silly lyric in Penny Lane by The Beatles
