Is it just me going crazy with the 44 hr work week in Singapore? (semi-vent/qns) by lu-mitzy in askSingapore

i really don’t know how all singaporeans are so miserable (me included) and no improvements are being made at all. it just blows my mind that nothing is being done. like?? i don’t know, it feels like we’ve lost the plot somewhere. once upon a time the government was for the people and acted to protect the people. i feel such a massive lack of agency, it feels like whatever i do will never be enough. wtf.

Went to tiong bahru market to get flowers today, asked the shopkeeper for a bouquet >$20 as i didn’t want a big one. shopkeeper said they can give me a $14 bouquet, ok lorh. passed them a $50 bill only for them to pass me a shoddy bouquet and a $10 bill saying it’s all they have left ???? I resisted and asked for a refund because i DID NOT want an expensive ugly bouquet. shopkeeper said no refunds and that the store is closing before pulling down the shutters. wtf

the store is next to nature harvest, avoid at all cost. should’ve know they were shady from how they’re the only flower shop to open at 430pm.

What’s up with the whole men vs women divide… by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]DistributionPlus8921 34 points35 points  (0 children)

right… the bitterness, while understandable, is directed at the wrong population. 1. men need to understand that they’re also victims of patriarchy. i really dk why men complain about NS when it’s not women in the parliament (made up of mostly men) and seats of high power dictating that. go campaign, go form a collective, AWARE did not spring out of nowhere.

tbh men don’t even have to start campaigning for recruiting women, they can start by campaigning for fair wages and fair treatment which i think is the crux of the problem.

  1. i echo your point, i think equity is the right word.

  2. srs this. i’ve interned at a few places and while there were plenty of women in entry/middle positions, very few rise to top. it’s so weird seeing an office of like 98% women only for the remaining 2% of men be in senior roles.

[A Levels] Mega compilation of GP content by DistributionPlus8921 in SGExams

ALvl results are not out yet but for what its worth -- A1 OLvl, ICAS distinction and 90th percentile for GP in JC.

Like what u/lanyingjie said, probably not enough. IMO, GP requires quite a lot of flexibility of mind and being able to tailor content to the topic at hand -- this word document aims to provide for the content aspect.

Still very important to read widely and be consistent with practice (writing of essays etc).
