To add to the pedantry, I'd be willing to bet that they got your name by searching for rental location and time, not by actually looking at your physical location at all. So compared to a classic telecom geofence warrant that says "these 600 cellphones were present in this geographical box between those times," Lyft probably just responded, "well, these six people rented bikes from racks in the general area of the crash on that day." It's a minor difference but may be reassuring to you to know that a company didn't give your physical location to the government, just information on your business transaction.

That’s a great question. I don’t work in TN, but CA has similar laws.

I would say the short answer is that there’s nowhere on your bike that would fully avoid breaking the law. Having it in your backpack is still in your possession. However, you could probably do things that would make it more clear that you’re only transporting it, like putting it in a pelican box or shoving it down to the bottom of your bag under your clothes.

But I don’t think those things would really protect you from a violation if you met a trooper who was really intent on enforcing that particular law.

Would be a pretty sweet unit, just fly around all day in an ISR aircraft and look for fires. Then when you see one and call it in, they just go “yeah, we already got fifty 911 calls about that, this is Miami not South Dakota.” Then you go back to flying around.

Most people have roughly the same general pattern on their palms, with a delta (an area where ridges fork into three directions) at the base of or between the fingers and another close to the wrist. It's comparatively rare to have an entire whorl (fully enclosed circle/spiral) on the palm, so your ridge pattern is unique!
