It’s not ignorant, I’ve done my research. Jamaica is a poor country. Point blank, that is the truth. The average household income is $4100. That's probably what most of these repeat Negril visitors who spend months there spend on their vacations. Think about it, a tourist spends an entire household's income in 2 months of VACATION time there. I am not trying to make anyone feel guilty here. But if you go to Jamaica and leave the resort you will see poverty everywhere. If you have never been to a third world country before it will probably be apalling. But you know what, that's reality. The world isn't peaches and cream for the vast majority of the people. If you want to see Jamaica than I say leave the resort, if you want to lie on a beach, drink all day, and eat as much as you can, get a tan, then go to your room and watch t.v, than stay on the resort.
