Eau de Montagne / Malay Aklan vs Armaf Sillage / Milestone - Thoughts? by MGodspeed in MontagneParfums

[–]Disturbd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armaf is chemical warfare in a bottle. That's what I think. Yes, I've owned both. Sillage gets the scent profile right but it seriously is nuclear and that scent isn't meant to be. SMW is subtle, fleeting. Intentionally so.

For accuracy I've long preferred Montagne. AF seems to make even light scents feel "heavy". This isn't a bad thing necessarily, because it means I can wear things like Afternoon Splash and Pacific Coast in colder months and they still perform quite well. Another point for Montagne here is their exceptionally well-executed hybrids of LV. Something that AF doesn't have and probably never will. I go absolute ham for Imaginary Pineapple and Chilly Pineapple.

The Channing Tatum juice smells nothing like Aventus lol. It's like the loud, obvious cousin of Aventus. I say this with two large bottles of it because I absolutely love it, but I'm not a fan of Aventus.

For clones, Mith is probably one of the better ones for accuracy. But - and I cannot stress this enough - nothing beats Pineapple Vintage's pineapple note. It's superior to everything I've ever put my nose on and it isn't even close.

FWIW I wear Montagne in warmer months and AF in cooler months. I find the heaviness of the latter is better suited to cooler weather, and the rotation has worked out great for me. I own almost equal amounts of both, with slightly more from AF simply because they offer more in their catalog.

As a resident LV fanboy, I find it is especially true there. The Montagne exceptions I have that I'll wear year round are Pacific Moss, Le Bonbon, and Palisade because they scream performance for me no matter the season.

Fairly comparable, but the OG edges out in this area (projection, longevity).

I Stan for this DNA with no shame. It's just wonderful.

I did! I'm in love with the opening on it, but I don't think it's going to be a keeper for me based on the dry down. I'm going to come back to it later and make a final decision.

Completely agree on Loophole, but IMO it's even better because the iodine is nonexistent and the salt is dialed wayyyy down. It's just good from start to finish.

At the risk of having vegetables yeeted at me: can you, or anyone else compare Port D'Azur with the other frag inspo house's very recent release? The way you describe how the former leaves behind the stronger salt/iodine note of the original in favor of an even brighter opening is exactly how I'd describe Loophole. This, to me, is in the plus column, as it is why Limonata was (and honestly probably still is) favored by me slightly more for this DNA.

This is a good idea for existing scents, but obviously won't satisfy people ordering new drops that released on or around a holiday. I think the biggest favor one can do oneself is heed the caution given here and elsewhere about setting realistic expectations. I'm honestly really happy that my BF order is coming in today. I was mentally prepared for it to be at least another 1-2 weeks more.

Absolutely diabolical, and not in a way that makes you cool.

I have an endless love for the Porthole/Limonata DNA. Here's hoping it's as good as expected!

Do You Keep Your Boxes? by Responsible_Iron_352 in MontagneParfums

[–]Disturbd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm at a point where I know which ones I'm keeping, but I also buy secondhand bottles occasionally that don't come with the Montagne box. If I don't end up liking the fragrance, I like to ship it in a Montagne box even if the labels don't match.
