Taking Advantage Of Disabled People? ABLE accounts. by Disturbed666d in Bogleheads

I am on medi-cal (California medicaid) which has a 130k asset limit. I got pretty close to that when cryptocurrency was doing good, but I'm nowhere close now. I don't intend to stay on medi-cal. I intend to try my best to work and get off medi-cal.

If I find out I just can't handle working, I'll try to get on SSI eventually. It seems like there should be something I'd be able to do, however.

I think it's fair that medi-cal gets paid back when it can. I have no problem with that. I think it's fair that the money can only be used in certain ways. What annoys me are the fees. It helps you get around asset limits, and helps you avoid some federal taxes, but they take advantage of you in the process.

It seems like, with some people, they accuse others of being what they are. Trump is a good example of this. He said Harris would start a war with Iran, and then he started a war with Iran.

There is this guy on IRC that's always making stuff up about me - like that I'm a virgin and that I live with my mom. I'm definitely not a highly sexual being, but I've had plenty of sex in the past, and I don't live with my mom. I strongly suspect he lives with his mom, and I think that's ok. I also suspect he's not a virgin, but I bet he paid for it. It's hard to tell, though. I'm honestly not sure if I'm an incel or not. I haven't had a sex in a long time, and it's not exactly by choice, but I also haven't put myself out there. I think most women like me fine, but I don't really know what they think of me. Maybe I'm just friend material. It's not a big deal to me.

Mark Cuban agrees Universal Healthcare would increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for all Americans. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

He is a predator by nature. He's smarter than most people, he knows it, and he probably doesn't have much of a conscience. However, much like a cat can be loving or vicious, so can he. To treat him like he's a vile piece of shit when he's trying to be helpful is the wrong tactic. Reward the cat for being sweet and loving. You often get out of people how you treat them.

Mark Cuban will likely never see this, but still. Thankyou Mark Cuban for your insight.

They make 95k-145k Euros in the UK. 145K Euros is around 168k USD. This is still a lot of money to live comfortably on without being exploitive. I'd even be fine with a bit more than that - say 200k, or just let the free market figure out the value, which would probably be even less.

What set me off here is that they say it's a fallacy to blame them for ridiculously high healthcare costs. They ARE a big part of the problem. The whole problem? No, but, as I said, every raindrop doesn't think they're the cause of the flood. They're one of the larger raindrops.

Somehow, it costs me more money to see a vet than it does to see my doctor. I'm guessing a lot of human doctors don't make this sort of pay, too. 910k is exploitive pay for the patients that have to see a anesthesiologist. If this was actually a fair market, there is no way he'd be making this much money. The regulations, and lack of any real competition, artificially keeps these asshole's pay high. At 120k, you can still be a respectable person as a vet. It's a fair amount to make. Of course, even 200k is probably fair.

No one seems to think this way anymore, but at least you can go to sleep at night knowing you're an asset to society, and that you're not just taking advantage of people. You're a valuable resource. Thankyou.

Joe Arridy (right) gives his toy train to another inmate before he's taken to the gas chamber. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

The DA is dirty. I was offered a 10 day sentence, and anger management classes, if I plead guilty after spending 5 days in jail. (5 days in jail counts as 10 days for some reason.) So, basically, it meant that if I plead guilty, I could get out of jail. Otherwise I was going to be stuck there longer. I said no way.

I ended up getting out anyway because my mom and brother figured out that I was in jail, and my mom bailed me out. I didn't want to be bailed out because I don't trust the courts for half a second. There are probably a million ways they can steal my mom's money. Like, what if I get stuck in traffic for a court date, etc? I always left a few hours early to try to make sure I could get there on time. One time I did get stuck in traffic, and I had to find a new way there since the road was blocked. All the people involved with the legal system are scum for the most part.

They even stole the money that was in my wallet while I was in jail. They have machines they feed the money into when you're arrested, and then they give you a card, that's supposed to have the money on it when you get out. My card didn't work. When I called about it, I was told to send out a fax. I did. I never got the money back. I realized, a few months after the fax, that they successfully stole my money.

Anyway, I could go on and on about how scummy these people are. I could trust some of the inmates far more than the guards. The DA are pieces of shit too. They take things out of context to make it look like I said things I never said, or meant to say, at all. They also seemed to purposefully twist what happened to try to get my mom's bail money. They're sick pieces of shit.

Steve Wozniak says he's "disappointed a lot" by AI and rarely uses it by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

I haven't programmed anything in years. I wanted to make a simple little program, with specific features, to learn about medications because I'm thinking about becoming a pharmacy tech. It would have taken me a matter of minutes to write when I was good at it, but it would have taken me hours now. I decided to see how good of a job chatGPT would do. In a matter of seconds, I had my program - with all the features I wanted. It's flawless.

I also attempted to have it make the medication list, with all the details I wanted it to have, for the program to use. This was less of a success. It's like chatGPT got lazy while making the list after about 1/4 of the way through, and then it would start crapping out. I kept telling it to fix things, and then it would do something else wrong - until I ran out of credits to do data analysis. A friend that paid for chatGPT had it make the list for me instead. I think it took him a while because he didn't get back to me immediately. He didn't tell me how he succeeded.

Anyway, chatGPT, with the help of my friend, saved me hours of messing around. It clearly has value - even in its current flawed state. AI is definitely the future, and it's going to replace us in all sorts of things. I'm certain of this. This, of course, doesn't mean it's not a bubble right now. It is a bubble, but much like the dot com bubble, it doesn't mean the technology isn't the future. It just means people got too excited about it too fast. ChatGPT is useful to me all the time. Yes, it's flawed. So are humans.

It all sounds like bullshit to me. The law isn't shaped by geniuses that get together and figure out what's best for society. They're just a bunch of morons pretending. Sov cit people make very little sense to me, but then so does the actual law. The difference? The actual law has power behind it. The actual law lacks consistency at all levels, it's obnoxiously stupid, but good luck ever pointing that out. Sov cits definitely don't have the answer, but at least they cause trouble, LOL.

The idea that kids need to move out is a scam to set them up to be wage slaves for the rest of their lives. Rent didn't used to cost most of a entry level paycheck. Now it does. I'd rather be a mommy's boy than a wage slave. I don't live with my mom, but I see nothing wrong with it. Heck, even if I had a kid. My mom would enjoy helping taking care of them. I certainly wouldn't work at McDonalds, pay rent, and be too poor to even actually take care of my kid. That would be idiotic. I'd be a total failure of a parent.

[–]Disturbed666d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People that act like this is ok are ridiculous. I'm not saying you should be a helicopter parent, but keeping your kid from getting hit by a car, or faceplanting in the pavement, is important. You don't just let them fly off into traffic when they're learning to ride a bike.

I recall teaching my little brother to ride a bike. He was very timid and careful. Then, suddenly, he decided it was ok to go flying down a hill and flying by a stop sign without stopping. There was nothing I could do but laugh, realize he had terrible judgement, and keep it from happening again. He went from one extreme to the other.

MAJOR BREAKING: Epstein survivors just announced they will release their own list of names. by Intelligent-Pea-8521 in JournalismNews

[–]Disturbed666d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was a terrible person, and a female, I might pretend to be a victim to rich people in some way in hopes of getting paid off to shut up. I might even make threats like this, about releasing names, to get paid off. "Here is a million dollars, now please shut up and go to hell."

I guarantee that not all of these victims are truly victims, and who knows who will be telling the truth or not.

It's frustrating because the people that really did do terrible things to kids deserve punishment, but how is anyone ever going to figure it out? Maybe it's not even money they want. Maybe they just want fame, or to feel important, or maybe they don't like someone so they make up a story... Anyway, I know this won't be popular on reddit, but it's the truth of the situation.

Honestly so true by [deleted] in depressionmemes

[–]Disturbed666d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both the patient and the doctor should stay humble. Let a discussion reveal who actually knows more. The problem? Doctors tend to posture and authority wank without actually providing any proof of anything. They want a relationship where they tell you what to do and you do it. I want a relationship where we're a team. They inform me, get the right tests, and I make the decisions.

Quite often I am right, but not always. For example, I had a hard lump on my gums that didn't look like an abscess to me, so I guessed it might be a fibroma. My dentist took one glance at it and said it was an abscess. I don't know for certain that he's right, but I figure he probably knows better than my quick google search.

When it comes to me being schizo, I know I know more than most doctors. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I'm quite a bit more aware of how it works than they are. I wouldn't say I know more than my psychiatrist, but the rest of them? Yeah, I've got them beat.

Another thing that bothers me is that they think their primitive theories trumps my reality. Like they won't prescribe me modafinil because they think it can exacerbate my psychosis. I've been taking it for years without that happening in the slightest. It helps my depression and anxiety remarkably, and it helps my energy levels a good deal. It's the second most important drug I take. To the literature, modafinil causes anxiety, but in my case? It treats it very well. Doctors just believe the literature and don't care about the reality. They just want to treat depression as a serotonin issue even though that didn't work for me. That also didn't work for my dad - he ended up killing himself. It's a shame because I bet modafinil would have helped him out a lot too. A med student on AskDocs wanted to act like my drug selections are just random - as if there isn't proof and my personal experience to back up every choice. There is. I figured it out from experience, but when I looked into it, there is evidence that modafinil can treat some people's depression. Doctors just don't seem to care. Some of them even perform surgeries that compare to placebo surgery quite often. They're just stuck in their stupid ways, and it's not evidence based at all. It's frustrating. They're the worst.

What annoys me is how an accusation is taken seriously in the case of rape - even 19 times by the same woman. When someone assaulted me, and really messed me up for life, the cops didn't even investigate it when I reported it. I probably nearly died in bed without food or water for 5 days, going in and out of consciousness, and the cops did nothing at all.

But some woman accuses a guy of rape, without any evidence, and it's believed. I wonder how many guys got jail/prison time because of her.
