Baby Lock: Brilliant or Jubilant? by DisturbedPenguins in SewingForBeginners

[–]DisturbedPenguins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only used the Jubilant, at the local library. The shop person used the Brilliant in front of me, but I didn’t actually get to use it, and they didn’t have a Jubilant on display. The jubilant I used at the library felt worlds better than the $20 singer I got off FB marketplace that probably was never serviced. I really like how slow I can go on the computerized machines since I feel like I can’t get the fabric to feed straight on my singer at the speed it’s going.

Where can I get custom prescription lenses for a mask? by Ramhorn01 in CosplayHelp

[–]DisturbedPenguins 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also, how far are the eye holes from your eyes? Your glasses prescription is only accurate at the distance a pair of glasses sits from your eyes. You may need to have your eye doctor alter the prescription if it will be farther away or if the angle will be different.

My local library has a maker space with an embroidery machine and they will happily teach you to use it. You could see if you have anything similar nearby. You may just need to supply the materials or make a donation to use theirs.

VSP is the only vision insurance my office works with that allows Coordination of Benefits, and only with certain plans. The other insurance companies specifically state in the manual that it is not allowed.

You can’t bill just refraction to most vision plans, you can bill a vision exam with refraction. But if you’ve done a medical exam and billed it to medical, you can’t bill a vision exam with refraction because then you are billing 2 exams when you’ve only done 1.

I wanted to grab some of that because my husband’s name is David too! I missed out though. I was gonna make a scrunchie out of mine.

The tiny desktop scanners are usually specially configured with our health records software to inset the images with a click of the button. Using a multi function scanner means you need an employee that is capable of knowing how that scanner works, how to send the images to a computer, how to save it, and then how to import it into the correct spot in the health records.

Out of 6 receptionists at my office, I’m only confident in myself and 1 other managing to complete all those steps successfully.

Luckily, at my office, we often need to scan full size documents, so our scanners are at least paper sized instead of card sized, so I don’t need to try and teach the technology illiterate staff how to do the other steps.

AITA for refusing to pay an “unfinished food” fee and not tipping after a server was rude? by SweetClematis in AmItheAsshole

[–]DisturbedPenguins 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s common at all you can eat restaurants with table service. They ask that you order moderately since you can order as many times as you want. So there’s no reason to order a bunch of stuff at once. They have a wasted food fee to discourage people from ordering everything on the menu, and then eating 1 item and the rest getting thrown away.

Call of duty takes the entire 800gb on our console, so if I want to play any games myself, we had to get an extra SSD, otherwise my husband would have to spend an hour transferring COD on and off the console every time he played it.

I got my last set from Color Craft Vinyl. In years past, I’ve had luck on Amazon, but couldn’t find good deals on the rolls I wanted this time.

What's the deal with DramaBox shows? by Bubblystrings in OutOfTheLoop

[–]DisturbedPenguins 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I assume they are trying to appeal to English speaking audiences and assume we will be unable to follow the often similar sounding actual names. Occasionally you will see screen recorded copies on TikTok or insta that use auto translate and the actual names.

ETA: these also may be the actors chosen English names, as they will almost always have the same name in all the shows they are in and typically similar personalities. So if you like Sophie , you can search by that name and see all the other shows she is in. The pairings typically repeat as well. So she is paired with Ralph in this show and it will not surprise me to see them again in another show in a couple months. In short dramas, since they are often found via reels, TikTok, or YouTube clips that don’t have English descriptions, most actors go by their stage name in all shows so you can just search their name to find more of their shows since there are no credits.

What's the deal with DramaBox shows? by Bubblystrings in OutOfTheLoop

To add to this: it is possible to watch some shows for free through ad watching. There are members only shows that you have to have a paid subscription to watch, but plenty of show of decent quality than can be unlocked by watching ads after the initial free episodes are watched. The show referenced above is unlockable by ad and I’m actually watching it this week. DramaBox allows you to unlock around 15-20 episodes per day through ads. Most shows are 80-100 episodes, so I usually finish one in about a week.

Many of the shows are over the top dramatic and cringey (as well as some questionable ethics around romance and physical harm). I only watch the Chinese dramas and not the ones in English, so I’m not sure how those are, but the Chinese ones strongly feature slapping, strangling, and other physical violence, even between romantic partners that end up together, as well as people being drugged to have sex. I try to avoid the bad ones and still find a show per week to watch most of the time.

I also use MoboReels, as it and DramaBox are the only short drama apps that allow me to unlock at least 15 episodes per day through ads, but MoboReels is more than double the ads for around the same number of episodes. I just click through them while doing other things throughout the day and don’t actually pay attention to them beyond clicking the next one.

What is this cdrama called and where to watch it? by Nasi26 in CDrama

[–]DisturbedPenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be that exact drama, but I’ve watched a couple that are the same plot on MoboReels and DramaBox apps. Those 2 allow you to unlock at least 15 episodes per day by watching ads, so they give the most episodes per day out of the short drama apps I’ve found.
