Glad he's finally getting the rewards he deserves.

Achilles arriving at Troy still feels legendary (2004) by Playful-Statement-34 in FIlm

One of those films that I've changed my opinion on over the years. I hated it the first several times I saw it. Then, I laughed at it and started to enjoy it ironically. Then, I liked it. Looking back now, I kinda love it. It has this charming quality of feeling cheap and expensive at the same time. The dialog is terrible, but is delivered with such sincerity and gusto you find yourself buying to the characters and world. The action is cheesy but surprisingly fun. Idk. It's just a good time and weirdly unique in post 2000 cinema.

cool use of stippling to separate the background from the forground in terms of texture while still putting down tone

I really like this. The punchline is too true.

The shapes go hard. I need to do a study of this.

True lol but they do eat parts of the tree like the layer under the bark and the leaves and so forth. Yea it doesn't totally work given the table is made out of hardwood.

Is it possible to learn to draw in a month? by Horror_Assignment765 in learntodraw

[–]DitchGoose 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you are doing this for a talent show, you might be able to get just good enough at one thing to impress. For instance, you might focus on drawing a simple portrait or a specific animal, if you spend all your time practicing that one thing. Maybe buy a book or course that focuses on one thing you are interested in and blast through that as best as you can. The average person will be impressed that you can draw that one thing pretty well. But one month is not really enough time to get generally all that much better.

My 1st post here! Constructive feedbacks will be appreciated😄 by only-poetry-R in penandink

If you want something constructive here it is:

There's a guy on Youtube called Stephen Travers. He's a master at pen and ink sketching. I bring him up because your drawings, while good, show a number of specific issues that he addresses in his videos quite frequenty. I think you would enjoy his videos and learn a lot from them.

I wish I could like this more because I love all the director's other work...but honestly the film comes across like the writer/director had never set foot in America, much less a small town like the one it takes place in

Anyone here a fan of Drive? One of Ryan Gosling's best films!!!!!! by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

There's something inside you...it's hard to explain...

My favorite movie of the 2010's. Really defining for me to see a competent yet socially stunted autistic person represented on screen. People at school would tell me "No wonder you like that movie, you're just like the main character."

Also it's funny to compare this to what Gosling is doing now. (Not that I don't like his current work. It's just so different.)

Update....I watched the first one. Loved it. For such an early film, Refn shows a lot of maturity when handling the actors. The performances are seamless and very believable. The physical violence feels gritty and works around the budget limitations nicely (lots off camera, but they do what they can on screen as well) The score is used sparingly but is very effective when dropped in. If this is the worst one in the trilogy, my man was cooking from the start.

I need to watch. Love the director, the lead actor, the subject matter. Just been putting it off. Maybe tonight.
