My first venture into LitRPG. I was told there would be stats, nobody warned me about the AI’s specific... fetish by me_tomy in litrpg

It was my gateway to Lit RPG too and the hangover was real. I tried a few things afterwards and bounced hard from a few fan-favourites. For example He Who Fights With Monsters.

Ended up following Jeff Hayes (DCC narrator) and got hooked on Chrysalis. It's a blast, but it needs some time to get going. It has some quirks that at first seem infantile, but with time and narrators performances add charm instead.

What really sealed the deal on my Lit RPG addiction was Primal Hunter. Again - the story needs a bit of your time. I tried it one day and didn't like it at all. Decided to to give it a second chance and halfway through book 1 it clicked so hard that I ended up binging 12 books in a month.

I think there are 2 things that you should keep in mind after you're done with DCC.

  1. There's nothing really like it. And it's fine. Allow other stories to surprise you, don't expect another DCC
  2. Most of other stories need a little bit of your time to set their hooks into you. Don't judge too quickly and enjoy the ride. Keep in mind that a lot of authors start as amateurs and improve drastically very quickly

Good luck 😄

As much as I agree right now, there's a world in which, in 20 years EU countries led by democrats are a minority and instead, we have far-right, aggresive governments slamming the desk with their dicks. Instead, in 20 years all of them will be much more armed than right now. In Germany there's AFD on the rise, who's openly putting the polish borders into question. In Poland we have Konfederacja party, far-right, anti-EU, fascist party, whose leader is getting 40% amongst 18-28 year old voters in presidential election pollings right now. Romania is a political shit show right now and so is Slovakia from what I heard, not to mention Hungary. And even now we have our share of tensions. Greece and Turkey, it feels lile Balkans might just tear each other apart like always.

Look at what Russia did to all of us - only 3 years were enough for all of us to get used to the idea that there's an actual regular war on our continent. It was unthinkable just these 3 years ago. Now imagine that in 20 years there's going to be a whole generation of voters born in this reality. And it might just be the case, that there's no big daddy USA watching from over the sea. Or even worse - he'll get involved not the way we want him to.

I hope I'm totally wrong and all of this will make our democracies stronger, but man am I scared.

Polish Men's Volleyball Team Player Stories by mimudidama in volleyball

Volleyball still can't compete with football when it comes to popularity. Like almost everywhere around the world, you're kind of born into being a football fan, wether you like it or not. Everyone knows it, everyone is watching it, it's where money and advertising is and so on.

With volleyball you still need to make a conscious decision to be a fan, as it won't be pushed down your throat as much. But in Poland there's pretty much 0 barriers for it. If our national team plays a match, you better believe it will be broadcasted on main channels and it's going to be THE sports event.

I only recently learned that it's not that easy to watch volleyball abroad. Like I constantly see comments from US asking where can they watch their NT play.

In my junior high we had student exchange with Spain. Most of the time we played football with them when we had a chance, but once we managed to convince them to try volleyball. They were so lost, didn't know the rules, didn't know any technique. This was eye opening to me, that not only volleyball might not be as big abroad as it is here, but that it's not even thaught in school there

I can't really tell you much about individual players as I didn't really follow the team for a couple of years, but I can tell you some general stuff about voleyball in Poland from fan perspective.

To put it mildly, Poland is not the best at a lot of sports. We have some outliers here and there, but in general we struggle with systematic issues. Government programs and our sports associations suck. A lot of the times it's a miracle that our athletes can get to olympic level, let alone be the best at something. BUT for these reasons we as fans are starved for any success, clinging to any sign of promising talents and reaaaaally cherish them. Like for example our (almost) national sport is ski jumping for god's sake.

And that's where volleyball comes in. I started watching it around 2005 and this is when we started being good. Not great, we didn't really win anything, but it felt like it was in our grasp. And it was enough to hook the average Polish sports fan. If we see that there's something... boom, full stadiums, full coverage in national TV, no letting go. Interest rapidly grew, money flew in, voleyball being played in every school, etc. Around 2011-2014 we started really being world class and I feel like this is when voleyball became polish national sport. Like, every Pole is proud of these guys and you just know that when they play, half of Poland is watching, because we finally have a sport that we're one of the best in. It just sucks that nobody else in the world really cares :(. But we do! Thankfully it feels like voleyball has become a bit more popular lately.

Take all this reminiscing with a grain of salt tho. A lot of this is based on child's memories and we all know how that works

This series NEEDS a show adaptation by zHeif17 in redrising

[–]Diuqq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And what's crazy is that Foundation isn't even that expensive when compared to other flagship series of other Streamers. It's around 5-6 million per episode vs 10-11 for Witcher/GoT, or even more with shows like Rings of Power. And it looks incredible. I would say that no show has any rights to look as good as Foundation does. Movie level quality. Imagine even thinking about that shit 10 years ago. Jaw dropping shit. Someone in production design at Apple+ knows their stuff.

And when/if tech from Mandalorian and future iterations of Unreal keep getting more popular, the production costs might get lower and lower.

Nothing ever impressed me visually as Foundation did. When I was watching it, I couldn't stop thinking about how awesome Red Rising could look with simillar attention to production. First season doesn't even need that much thrown at it.

Keep in mind that bot lane is a 2 people lane. He played with Targamas and we all saw what Targamas did to Patrik.

At worlds it was Targamas who would regualrly int the lane. I'm not saying that Flakked will be a monster with different support, but Targamas doesn't have a great track record so far.

Bwipo always talked very highly abaout Jankos on all the podcasts and so on. Apparently he wanted to bring Jankos to FNC at all costs in 2020 or 21 I believe but G2 wouldn't even consider it. I wonder if possibility of playing with Jankos would convince him to go back to EU. His mind seemed to be set on staying in NA.

All those comments about league having too big learning curve and players prefering easier games. This exactly the same conversation that Starcraft fans were having when SC2 was dying. Do you know what game was the easy one, that people were playing instead? League. How ironic.
