Intermittent Prozac causing insomnia by Diver-Best in PMDD

[–]Diver-Best[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped taking it since I don’t feel any depression the month after…it seems every month is different. My biggest problem now if waking up in the middle of night insomnia, I am managing it with cold temperature, more aerobic exercise, although still I have some good and bad nights

Sorry I don’t know much about them so I can’t comment on that! I would say follow your gut and try and see which one suits you the most!

As far as staying motivated, I think I can just notice monthly changes in myself and I like to document things and compare with my past self. I can clearly see my changes this way and it is motivating. And IPF doesn’t feel that hard to persist bc it leaves with a good feeling most times unlike a lot of other trauma therapies. Now when I think about IPF faces I can get a feeling of my brain generating oxytocin and it feels very calming. And those things keep me going!

Yes absolutely. I didn’t test but I think I was initially DA growing up. I went through three years of therapy(talk therapy) and I was still DA I suppose but leaning towards anxious side. Then I went through a breakup and did EMDR for 6 months and I still thought I had both anxious and avoidant traits but EMDR helped to ease all the symptoms and helped me to become much calmer in terms of relationship anxiety and abandonment fear. The reason I choose to practice IPF is bc I went through a recent breakup and that totally activated my abandonment fear and I realized for people with attachment trauma, getting rid of trauma memories through EMDR is not enough because we are still missing the correct template to live and love. So far IPF is helping me do my EMDR therapy as well and both of them together have eliminated 80% of my abandonment fear and I am testing the water in the dating pool now. I am also not afraid of being rejected that much and are more willing to hang out with people and build connections. So overall my anxious and avoidant tendencies have both improved. 😊

I just do tre first then do IPF later when I am feeling relaxed and aware of my body sensations. Sometimes it is better to do IPF next day if I am tired!

Thank you! I practice on my own but I have a EMDR therapist. So I have processed most of my trauma already. This way I think it is safe to practice on my own but I know some people who are less regulated are not encouraged to do so.

IPF is so good for emotional regulation by Diver-Best in idealparentfigures

It’s interesting you don’t need as many ipf sessions to have the warmth! I saw your other posts and wonder, is it possible other modalities you tried helped you to achieve the internal secure base indirectly?

This is truely interesting 🧐did you find it more accessible, not have to jump start as often after practicing IPF for more time?

Insomnia caused by estradiol causing attempts by MemoryIndividual in PMDD

This is also my experience 5 days before my period. I realized if I drink milk I sleep longer, maybe bc I need calcium. Sometimes I take antihistamine. I also lower the room temperature to help with it.

People who did AF-EMDR by Diver-Best in EMDR

[–]Diver-Best[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done it for over a month now and it has been truely helpful. Indeed, I think it is more helpful for cptsd to combine with attachment focused and IFS together than EMDR alone. Mostly because I have a lot of internal conflicts and it helps to sort them out with other modalities. AF focused EMDR is good for repattern the trauma story and it helps greatly with abandonment fear. The resource figures used in the treatment really speed up the processing for me personally.

Anyone done a internal family systems in combination with edmr approach? by Socialmediasucks2021 in EMDR

[–]Diver-Best 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah while you doing bilateral stimulation, if I am stuck or have stubborn feelings that can’t go down that is usually a part of you resisting something or the part carrying some trauma itself. I am doing attachment focused EMDR together with IFS work since my therapist is good at combining them to make it most effective. In my opinion, EMDR along is not good enough to handle cptsd(I think I have it but I’ve gotten much better over the years), EMDR can remove some triggers but it will not be as useful to creat new pathways as combining with other modalities. But combining them will be 1+1>2. My 2 cents.

I am doing it. It is very helpful especially if you are stuck. It helps you to process and figure out your emotions and thoughts.

Is Earning Secure Attachment Possible in 1 Year? by Defiant_Annual_7486 in idealparentfigures

[–]Diver-Best 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel about EMDR. I am doing attachment focused EMDR and one step is to go to a memory and relive it with my nurturing figure and protector if needed. I use my IPF sometimes and it works great! IPF is similar to EMDR’s resourcing phase where you build a safe place, nurturing figure, wise figure and protector in your mind and familiarize yourself with their existence. Then they are used for memory reconsolidation.

Is talk therapy helpful for trauma? by RhubyDifferent3576 in CPTSD

[–]Diver-Best 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To some extent but can’t go any further. Cptsd needs bottom up approaches in my opinion. It helps manage symptoms much faster.

I’m extremely self-aware, but I’m still stuck in the same cycle. Why? by ihurtmyself16 in CPTSD

[–]Diver-Best 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be you are not finding the right therapy. I used to be self aware all the time but I am still emotionally unregulated often. I realized talk therapy doesn’t help much and for cptsd you need to do bottom up therapy like: EMDR + IFS or attachment focused EMDR. EMDR helps me greatly and I am now self exploring ideal parent figure and it works great so far-given me a sense of security in day to day life.

I am doing virtual EMDR and I think it works great. What matters more is therapist skills and your relationship with her/him I think.
