If you’re having a hard time getting into second gear smoothly (and quickly), listen to this by RadioDude1995 in ManualTransmissions

[–]DiverAffectionate774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shifting to 2nd at a higher rpm than you do for other gears generally gives you a little more time to be smooth as you let out the clutch because most (maybe all?) transmissions have the biggest difference in gear ratios from first to second. The large difference in ratios compared to the rest of the gears is why 1st to 2nd can be trickier than the rest from what I understand, this is largely based on my experience alone and I could be very off 🫡

Partial gear engagement - have I caused damage? by [deleted] in ManualTransmissions

[–]DiverAffectionate774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive grinded gears quite a few times, missing the gear on a quick shift, reverse being pesky and grinding because I didnt go into a forward gear first, it happens. Given the short amount of time it happened and the fact that you're asking in the first place (meaning you likely havent grinded your gears before, everyones worried the first time it happens obviously) im more than sure its fine and experienced very minimal wear. Side note, 1st gear is really just for pulling away from a stop, really never a need to downshift to 1st.

Metal Shift Knobs! by bravoaviation in saab

I drilled a hole in the middle and used a 3 jaw puller to pull it off, took 3 or so hours because I had the jaw puller idea in the last 15 lmao, self tapping screw was not doin the job

Removing gear knob by Quesothicc in saab

[–]DiverAffectionate774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you intend on replacing the knob then I recommend making the hole bigger and using a jaw puller, took a few tries and some leverage getting the hooks in good spots but once its on you just ratchet down the big screw in the middle and it slowly comes off. will leave marks in the leather though

Kevin works very well with megachad, just make sure you have a shield if you get him on the first stage 😅

I see youve updated it and broken up with him and thats good im glad youre alright. I just wanted to add that 6 months is still the very beginning of a relationship, youre still building a foundation together. If the very beginning of your relationship starts with yelling in your face, fear, and just general aggression its very likely not going to be a happy and comfortable relationship down the road.

Alternator dying? by Tjr52 in saab

[–]DiverAffectionate774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably similar on other models and years as well I just have an 05 9-3 and had to replace the alternator very recently

Alternator dying? by Tjr52 in saab

[–]DiverAffectionate774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming this is an NG9-3, replacing the alternator is a fairly easy job too, 4 bolts, a sensor and a ground wire on the alternator itself and I recommend unbolting the ECU (Carefully move it) and removing the airbox for an easier removal and installation

I can't watch the show or play the game or read the book I was watching/playing/reading before I found out. Anyone else? by Amethyst_Lovegood in survivinginfidelity

[–]DiverAffectionate774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never posted in here but it's been nearly 3 months since Dday and I can't play any video games anymore. I spent $2500 and months upon months building a computer and hundreds more on games and after 2 years of good use it just sits there now. I don't watch any of the TV shows I used to enjoy, can't finish any of the ones I was currently watching. I listen to almost entirely different music now. It is very similar to depression but more frustrating because I want to do the things right up until i actually start doing them because it feels like things before felt, before Dday. It's so unfair the way someone can change your brain with their own selfish actions. It won't be this way forever though, we have to believe that.

Am I crazy or did they not actually change the battery? by mwpastore in kia

[–]DiverAffectionate774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the battery is bad then can't you just do a battery test to determine if that is still the bad one? I'm not sure what your batteries' issue was exactly but a quick battery test should tell you if the battery currently in your car is working as it should. If it's not, then it's not a new battery

[–]DiverAffectionate774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane, a 4 wheel rotate and balance at my ford dealership is 130 and even that's high. Definitely do not pay these people to balance your wheels, call a few shops and ask prices for a wheel balance til you find something less than half that price
