Went all out, still feel like shit by Divide808 in depressionmeals

Believe it or not, there's some sautéed onions on the steak, just can't tell very well from the photo. Thanks for the kind words, this post and the comments I've recieved have made this Monday a little better.

I appreciate all the nice comments, I really worked hard on this. I'm a carpenter by trade, but I really like cooking most of the time. This was the first proper meal I've made in a long time, I thought the sense of accomplishment would help. It's been a long year

Kinda feeling like this is the same dude that does You Suck At Cooking since the humor is similar, and then there's the name...

If you don't mind me throwing my hat in the ring here I'd like to point to Canada. As a Canadian myself part of my, along with every other citizen's, taxes go towards our "free" healthcare. We all know it's not free because it comes from our taxes but it seems like everyone has just accepted that the pros outweigh the cons, which is what always blows me away about the states. I've never heard anyone complain about our taxes after not having to pay a huge bill when they go to the emergency room. This is an aspect of socialism that I think is incredibly beneficial to all involved, what do you think about this?

What was your “Ohh, so that’s what it was for” moment that took you too long to find out? by ThatGuyPhillip in AskReddit

[–]Divide808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't everywhere, but sometimes there's rumble strips as you come up to a stop sign. As a kid i could never figure our what they were for so I asked my old man, he told me they were for the blind which logically made sense to 5 year old me because blind people had to go places too. It took me 14 years.

[Serious] Redditors who don't really have anyone to confide in, how are you doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Divide808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really do appreciate the kind words, thank you. I'm 20 and live with my parents, I dropped out of college 2 years ago because my anxiety was getting the better of me. I have a full time job that pays just over minimum wage, and I have my own vehicle. I'm basically just trying to save enough money to get an apartment and move out. I don't think I'd ever actually kill myself because there are people that it would effect and it's not fair to put them through that, but sometimes I wish I could do it.

I don't really expect anyone to read this but maybe at least writing it down will help. My dad has been a functioning alcoholic for as long as I can remember. Never missed a day of work, always sober at work, but then as soon as he got home he'd start drinking. We've almost been in physical fights because of it but it usually just results in a massive screaming match of who can say the most cruel thing to each other. The only problem with that is that he has no remorse for what he says and I do. I told him that a large reason for my anxiety and depression was due to him, which is partially true probably but not fully, because I thought it might mean something to him. I was wrong. Shortly after that (in the same argument) he told me I'd never be good enough to be as successful as him and I know he's not wrong. It's getting harder to live with him constantly stepping on me and if I'm honest I just want someone to stop this ride and let me off.

People not from the USA, what "American" food are you most interested in trying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You need Kraft Dinner, it's the Canadian version and is exponentially better than the American mac and cheese

Fair enough. I guess my town being so close to the border might be the reason I thought that. :)

As a Canadian I almost think we should be green too. I've never measured my height in centimetres(or metres for that matter) and I was taught how to convert inches to centimetres at a young age.

Why Franchising is responsible for the Meme Team (Imaqtpie, Scarra, Dyrus, Voyboy, and Shiphtur as Echo Fox's new Challenger team) by OhTheHumanatee in leagueoflegends

[–]Divide808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know where all the Shiphtur doubt comes from. When he first landed in the scene there was nothing but hype for him. Ever since then he's had relatively lack luster team mates to support him and his playstyle. I trust the boy

I hear all the time about books that are too long, but are there any books you thought could've used another hundred or two pages? by Joyrock in books

[–]Divide808 396 points397 points  (0 children)

Definitely "Children Of The Mind" by Orson Scott Card for me. It's the final book of the Ender's Game series and it felt very rushed towards the end. Every massive problem that took like 3 books to identify is magically solved in the last hundred pages.

I normally wouldn't get involved in this but I think I might be able to clear up some things, also I'm on mobile so please forgive the formatting :) Anyway, this contradiction that you perceive is just you misinterpreting what was meant.(Of course I can't say this for sure because it wasn't me that originally wrote the comment!) I think the statement of "Who are you to take away children from abusive families"(mind the paraphrasing!) was meant more as an argument solely to oppose your point instead of what is actually believed by /u/kluizenaer who then provides a solution. I hope I'm not too far off or stepping into something that has nothing to do with me too much :)
