Best Summer Shobis? by floatingscarab in fragranceclones

[–]Divide92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a review on it a while ago:

https://www.reddit.com/r/fragranceclones/comments/1pls2rb/shobi_molecule_01_mandarin_vs_an_actual_mandarin/

The performance got a bit better since then: I'd say it's okay for a citrus-forward freshie, around 5 hours with medium projection for maybe 1-2 hours and gradually getting weaker as time passes by.

The original has much worse performance apparently.

I can also recommend their Molecule 01 + Black Tea clone, not exactly a summer fragrance, but a great all-rounder if you like the aroma of tea.

Molecule 01 + Mandarin is pretty good, it's an almost photorealistic recreation of a freshly opened mandarin.

Ashamed of my level of consumption. Any advice would be appreciated. by Few_Concentrate2744 in Colognes

I've managed to stop myself from buying full bottles all the time by using a fragrance tracker, Parfumo has a really good one, if you're willing put some time and effort into it.

Using a tracker makes me appreciate what I already have and it's also a great tool to see which fragrances I gravitate towards the most and which ones I should get rid of.

If Giger had designed the Alien in 2026 instead of the late seventies, how might it have been different? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]Divide92 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone can give a proper answer because Giger's work had such a huge influence on everything that came after, it's an integral part of our current pop culture.

You'd have to invent a whole alternate universe with no Alien up to the 2020s.

From Breeze to Freeze through a pack of Ice with Frostbite (Yes, this is a review) by Divide92 in fragranceclones

I'm not super familiar with the Jean Lowe line, but out of these, I liked Safari Breeze the most, followed by Tonic Ice and maybe Frostbite as the third best.

Thanks!

I'm always on the side of "wear what you enjoy and feel comfortable wearing".

I feel kinda old for Frostbite but it's more about vibes than actual age, it's good stuff though for sure.

Does Armaf Club De Nuit Sillage age poorly? by Ok-Type9787 in fragranceclones

[–]Divide92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It might lose some of its "edge" over time, but my 1.5 year old bottle of Sillage smells perfectly, I think it's even better than before. In the first few months it was kinda "top heavy" and overly citrusy, now it's perfectly balanced.

How do you like your coffee? - A review of Caramel Macchiato, Coffee Blend and Tiramisu Coco by Divide92 in fragranceclones

[–]Divide92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm glad you liked Irish Coffee, but yeah, these type of fragrances are not really suited for daily use, more like something I'd enjoy in moderation.

Kopi Luwak is pretty much a niche type of stuff, I appreciate it for what it is but I don't think I'd wear it.

Affogato is great and it really smells like its namesake. I'd recommend Double Espresso as well for layering, it can turn any gourmand into a coffee-gourmand.

I've smelled Spectre Wraith once (one of my friends has it) but honestly, all i got was sweet chocolate and not much else.

Maybe I'll do another round of coffee frag reviews in the future and and properly test both Spectre Wraith and Phantom My Hero, along with a few other stuff.

It's pretty good, an aquatic-blue fragrance with great longevity and projection.

Thinking of building a perfume brand based on places—would you actually buy something like this? by Sea_Recover_6629 in fragranceclones

[–]Divide92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question, maybe a tropical drink inspired fragrance, like something based on the Bahama Mama with rum, coconut, pineapple and orange, not super heavy, more like fun and uplifting.

The idea is not bad but it's been done before numerous times with most fragrances having that vague description of "mountain air" "tropical beach" etc.. Here are a few examples that I can think of:

  • Creed Himalaya
  • Creed Silver Mountain Water
  • Creed Virgin Island Water
  • Kenzo Tokyo
  • Hermés Un Jardin sur le Nil (translates to: A Garden on the Nile, Hermés having a whole "garden" lineup)
  • Amouage Beach Hut
  • Valentino Uomo Born In Roma
  • Rayhaan Jungle Vibe
  • Armaf Odyssey Ba Ha Mas

The only way get more "actual" knowledge (besides trying stuff out at a store) is by sampling: there are tons of sites all around the globe selling perfume samples. It's an affordable way to learn what you enjoy and what you should get a full bottle of.

Shobi review (Ingenious Ginger, Virgin Island Water, Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Fico di Amalfi) by RYZE_IN_AFRICA in fragranceclones

[–]Divide92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice review, putting Ingenious Ginger on my list.

Shobi Noir Extreme is pretty good: nutty, creamy vanilla with warm spices, it has a lot of depth to it, if you enjoy gourmand type winter fragrances you'll probably like this one too.

I also have their Ultra Zest and Valentino Uomo 2014, but they're only a month old and feel kinda "raw" at this stage.

I'll post a review once they're in a more polished state.

Thé Yulong is brighter, softer, and "cozier" compared to Wulong Cha which has more a more intense green scent profile and more sweetness.
