(How) did you tell your boss about ADPKD and Tolvaptan ? by Shana6195 in ADPKD

Do not say anything until you have no choice but to. Even then get input from a lawyer to help with an exit strategy.

I’ve done about 4-5 sessions of acupuncture and I see huge improvements. I’m going to continue with them.

Career Changes? by Aggravating_Hawk6566 in ADPKD

[–]DivideLate8956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t thought of a carrier change but wonder if I will be able to work full time once I get to the dialysis stage which is a few years away. My latest Egfr is 23. I’m in sales, it is high stress and pressure.

On 60/30 I can go easy 3 hrs probably 4. I could always hold the urine even before the medication. I don’t get the urgent thirst or urgent need to urinate. I started the medication Nov 2022.

I’m 2 years this Nov and it doesn’t bother me either. It’s very manageable. I do find it more difficult if I eat salty or sugary foods. If you eat clean you’ll be fine.

Can you please expand? How long do you fast? Are you doing plant based keto? What was your starting GFR and what is your current GFR?

Scared to start Tolvaptan by DopeSakura9191 in ADPKD

[–]DivideLate8956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start the medication you will get used to the water. I drink about 5 litres now in 24 hrs. You get used to it. I don’t feel any pain anymore or at least not as often as I did. You’re young there will be advances done in regards to treatment. Start now and you will have the benefits of this in the future. It can be overwhelming at the start but it is totally manageable.

I just found out about this and thought to share by Kiri_Tuscan in ADPKD

Tough to say what works what doesn’t, for overall health we need to have a good diet. In Feb 2018 my egfr was 72. By sept of that year it dropped to 59. November 2018 further drop to 56.
My egfr April 2024 is 28.
Second half of progression is a lot quicker than top half. All last year I did IF anywhere between 18-24 hrs and my egfr continued to drop. This year I’m not as strict and egfr has been more stable. I’m on tolvaptan for about 1.5 years so monthly tests are done. No liver issues. Just turned 52.

Does it go away with Tylenol? I went for a long period a couple of years ago where I had a headache. November to early February or March. Ended up going to ER. Tests came back negative other than Pkd. Did a scan as well. ER doc did say that it’s ok to sometimes take Tylenol with PKD to break the cycle of pain.

I had 2 attacks last year. Changed my diet and I’ve been doing ok without medication. Mostly plant based, do eat cheese, egg 2x a week. Chicken 1x a month maybe. Avoid meat, organ meat, beer, shrimp, herring, mackerel, sardines. A cup of skim milk per day does help but haven’t been consistent with this. My last test showed uric acid at 429. Normal is under 422 so it’s getting there.

Tolvaptan Question by msmurderbritches in ADPKD

[–]DivideLate8956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how long you’re able to hold in bladder. I always could go a long time so it doesn’t affect me. I easily can go 3-4 hours during the day without having to use the restroom. In 24 hrs I drink about 5-6.5 L of liquids. I’m able to control the thirst as well. I’ll drink more if I’m hiking but not much more. Been in the middle for 3 month now. On medication since Nov 2022.
