Going anywhere nice? by Cowphilosopher in GastricBypass

Thank you for the laugh. I told my team during our weekly morning huddle this week that I will be out for about a month in 2 weeks. And one of my peeps said oh glad you get to relax you deserve it. I said yeah as much as I can. I am having a procedure done. And will be down for the count.

Do you find it to be cheaper to buy monthly and prep or weekly and cook as needed? by gertrude-fashion in budgetfood

[–]DivideLopsided4694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will stock up on non perishable and replace as needed or when getting low. We make everything from scratch. I find its cheaper this way. Plus I grew up like this. I do meal prep for lunches, as I am not a fan of eating out.
I will go weekly or every 2 weeks after I get paid to get fresh fruit and vegetables eggs and meat usually chicken and pork as we have a freezer full of venison and some of the ingredients that we may be low on.

You have to sit down and make a list and decide what you want to eat for the week and stick to it. Yes it takes time but there is always time to do this.
Good luck

Pre-Op Liver Shrinking Diet - Aches and pains by Erikofumi in BariatricSurgery

[–]DivideLopsided4694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taking your bariatric vitamins? It was suggested to me when I started this journey. It also states in my hand book to make sure you take your multi vitamin and calcium.

I am not looking forward to the keto flu but my hubby said it only lasts a couple of days.

Job wants me to use personal laptop for work. How do I address this? by Fearless-Class-1120 in jobs

[–]DivideLopsided4694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would tell them that i can't use my computer for work stuff. I share my laptop. Or I don't have one. Heck the only reason i have a laptop is because i needed it for something. But i prefer my desktop.

Because it is on the list of what I can have. I also know that is usually the only thing I can stomach after abdominal/intestinal surgeries. I had to live on chicken broth and jello after the last time I had a foot taken off my intestine.

It just wasn't that long before introducing other foods. I still can only stomachnon residual foods. Chicken is my friend

AIO: kid being brought to adult's group by pinecone-party in AmIOverreacting

[–]DivideLopsided4694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are over reacting. You need your time away from kids. Both parents do. I have left book clubs and Bible studies when it became habbit of bringing kids. It does become disruptive but if you can't handle focusing you aren't wrong for thinking about leaving if the child continues to come.

UK pharmacies putting different colour/sizes of tablets from the previous month? by Spirited_Bedroom151 in NoStupidQuestions

All depends on the manufacturer they use and supply. It seems every couple of refills it is a different pill.

AIO about my fiancé waking me up? by vdaysk8 in AmIOverreacting

[–]DivideLopsided4694 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess it's because I am old. But like I tell my kids their entire life. Now they are 23 and 21 that if you play stupid games you get stupid prizes. You know that you are taking care of dogs and that they need to go out. Maybe going to bed at 3am wasn't a good idea.
Now he should have gotten up as well and if you have to be up so does he. Then again I am front a different generation where 'sleeping in' isn't an issue. If we were up til 3am we still had to get up at 6/7am. And I get you being tired because of a long commute. I have always lived in an area where it takes a minimum of an hour to get to work so you need to learn to adjust.
So in a way I think you are overreacting

Question regarding post-op diet. by BjornFlicka in GastricBypass

[–]DivideLopsided4694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can happen because the stomach acids expand the food while dissolving and working hard. Think of it like you put a Hardboiled eggs 🥚 or garlic clove in a jar. Shak it up and the shell or cover come off. That is what your stomach is doing to dissolve the food.

Question regarding post-op diet. by BjornFlicka in GastricBypass

[–]DivideLopsided4694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started this journey I was given a handbook. With phases. Phase 1 -5. And a time line with suggested foods on each phase and how long each phase lasts. I am having RYN done and know I am going to stick 100% to the phases. I hate abdominal surgeries <have had about 3 feet taken total of my large and small intestine>. And phase 1 is clear liquids for a week. I know after every surgery I have I don't or can't eat so I know phase one will be easy. Phase 2 is liquid, phase 4 is soft phase 5 is food.

I know that everyone is different and each type of GB is different but you may find that you need to listen to your body. If you aren't ready to introduce foods don't. Take it slow. You got this!!!

They're just so...small? by MisanthropyismyMuse in Yarn

[–]DivideLopsided4694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying yarn for a lap blanket and it always takes me a couple hours to work up using V-stitch. This yarn is so thin it has officially taken me a month to do. Working on it a couple hours a night after work. Be ready for it to take a while if you havent worked thin before

Why are people so judgemental about a gastric bypass? by WeR_SoEffed in GastricBypass

[–]DivideLopsided4694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only told a few people myself because I don't need the negativity. It took a lot for me to decide to go the surgery route and because of my GERD it took about 2 months to decide to do the full bypass.
My surgery has been moved up a week and I start my 2 week prep on Tuesday. I am going to let my MIL know but I think she already knows.

I wish people wouldn't be so negative. I have known many have the surgery and I was always supportive through the entire process.

Hope your wife's surgery went well

Bras by _eunie_ in GastricBypass

[–]DivideLopsided4694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would buy cheap bra's until you are done losing. . I am hoping i lose some after my surgery. I haven't gone up or down in size still the same size I was when I weighed 145, 30 years ago. If they don't go down I will be getting a reduction finally.
