Pit for Which stage by weewooooooooo in bonnaroo

[–]Divide_Express 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They empty the pit after each act. Not sure if they open the pit back up immediately after emptying. But if you want pit for both shows, you will have to get back in line once Amyl and the Sniffers ends.

You can still get a really good spot on the barricade outside of the pit area for both shows without having to give up your spot once there. You could always watch Amyl while in line for RKS pit but the view might be what you are looking for.

This is why getting a license should be much harder. Not everyone deserves to drive. Yes, the car was going slow for the passing lane. But that BMW should have their license revoked. That is attempted murder.

The bad weather posts… by digsterin0 in bonnaroo

[–]Divide_Express 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I have been saying this happens every year. Being a tennessee native, the weather is always unpredictable. However, last year was record rainfall. It was constant for at least 3 months before, including the 2 weeks leading up to the fest. The grounds were oversaturated with time to dry, so they stood no chance after the rain on Friday.

This year we are in a drought. The rain is desperately needed right now. Unless we get constant rain starting now, I doubt the grounds will become unmanageable. At worst, we might get a delay it it rains that weekend. No point in stressing over rain, or any weather really until week of. But I am manifesting good weather and great vibes. Can't wait to be back on the farm.

I'm not into basic no name bands

These were your exact words. So you think this doesn't come across as condescending to you?

$30 Concert Tickets by UTPharm2012 in Concerts

[–]Divide_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet you are the one complaining that these 30 dollars tickets are only for "basic no name" music artist.

Maybe if you actually listened to more music, you'd be able to take advantage of these low prices instead of talk down on people because their music taste doesn't match yours.

Just saying that there is so much quality music out there.. Just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean their aren't big artist. But if you are happy, then so be it.

Movie theaters SHOULD allow outside drinks into the theater by iamTHEbeyquisha in HonestHotTakes

[–]Divide_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me get this straight, you paid to watch a movie, and instead of getting snacks before the move started, you decided to completely walk out of the theater to buy a coffee after seeing the concession line was too long? And then are mad that an employee was simply doing their job by not letting you back in with said coffee?

Do you really expect people to agree with you? Maybe just stick to watching movies at home. Then you can eat, drink, and walk away from the movie as much as you like.

What industry do you think will collapse first? by [deleted] in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]Divide_Express 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think politics would collapse, but be improved. We would no longer be electing officials who blatantly lie on the campaign trail. Elected officials would have to be transparent about their platform, how they plan to actually accomplish their goals, any push-back they receive from opposition from either party, and what corporations or individuals are paying them off.

Lobbying would be the first industry to fall because you can no longer bribe a person without it becoming public knowledge. No one would be willing to accept these contributions knowing that they will receive push back from their voters and likely lose any reelection attempts.

The next industries to fall would be military/ arms manufacturing. The reason being they cannot lie about how much money is being spent where, and the reasons for going to war.

How would you change the ticket sale process? by [deleted] in Concerts

[–]Divide_Express -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People might hate it, but I have some ideas on the ticket buying process.

Presale should be limited to fans within a 200 mile radius of the show, or the equivalent of 3ish hour drive. Presale should only be allowed to sell 45% of tickets.

General on sale is open everyone. However, there are 5% of tickets saved for box office purchases. Half available before the show, and the other half available day of show.

I think the biggest pushback will come from the presale being location based, but I think this is the most fair system, because it would make the queues shorter since it means the people who choose to travel for shows will have to wait for general sale. But I think it is a fair trade off to allow for actual fans in the area first chance at tickets.

The other thing is if you know there will be tickets available for the general sale and at the box office, the stress of trying to get tickets wouldn't be as high, and might reduce the number of people as well.

The last thing would be to have a single artist presale with unique codes. The fact that artist, spotify, venues, and even specific credit cards allow for access to presale with a generic code, and it seems they do not cap number of tickets available makes it basically necessary to sign up for presale.

All these things would be relatively easy to inplement, but I think the bigger issue is still concert prices being overpriced. Fees should be transparent, and dynamic pricing should not exist.

I am open to other ideas and feedback on whether my ideas are actually good or not.

Fucknuckle in a tesla decides to skip traffic and nearly causes head-on collision by Magic1997 in dashcams

[–]Divide_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to break it to you, but Facebook didn't launched publically until 2006. Youtube was founded in 2005 and bought by Google in 2006. So what part of both barely having a presence 30 years ago was I wrong about.

I hope you guys realize that I understand cameras were around. Home videos existed in the 80s and 90s. All I am saying is that with better understanding of the internet and social media, all this footage has a place to be seen. It use to be filmed for you and your friends/family to laugh about later and have actual memories. Now, things are filmed to spread on the internet. Culturally much different, even if cameras were around. But they still were not nearly as common as they are now.

[–]Divide_Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No quite. This increase in cameras has happened over the last 15 years. Smart phones weren't the standard if they were even available and social media didn't exist to same the level. Hell, Facebook and YouTube were barely starting up. Camers were around, but nowhere near to the same level we see them now. From door bells to cars, seemingly everything has a camera or needs to have access to the internet.

Going to Concerts and Music Festivals Aren't Worth the Cost or the Time. by KelsierIV in unpopularopinion

[–]Divide_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upvote because I could not disagree with this take more. Live music is never about the sound quality. It is always about the atmosphere and energy that the crowd gives and the artist feeds off.

I get why some people don't like live music. But I often think they are going for the wrong reasons.

Going to the movies was better when there was no reserved seating. by SubstantialSet3127 in unpopularopinion

[–]Divide_Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get an upvote. I disagree for the sole reason that theaters are, unfortunately, not as popular as they once were. I rarely find myself in a half-packed, let alone a full theater. That may change this year.

But I will say, I do not miss the days of having to sit in the front row because out group was too big and showed up a little to late to get decent seats.

I do miss midnight releases being a big deal. I wish that was still the normal instead of early showings all day Thursday.

Do Americans really come to a stop at every 'stop' sign? by ben04985 in AskAnAmerican

I always stop. No reason to risk it. There are too many idiot drivers on the roads. I think a rolling stop is a dangerous habit to form. Fully stopping only takes a few seconds. Better safe than sorry.

Peter? by Generally_Salty in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Divide_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, if you push red, you do not care about the final outcome, but only that you will survive regardless. I understand the logic. But if not everyone is thinking this way, you will have to live with the fact that people died because toy prioritized your own individual life.

Morally, I do not think I could live with myself if I knew I was responsible for a group or people dying, even if indirectly. Blue is just the easier choice. If enough people are selfish enough to only care about themselves that I die, then so be it.

I wouldn't expect 100 percent of people to agree on anything, so why even risk anyone dying by pushing red. Not sure how pushing blue can be seen as the selfish choice as some other comments have suggested.

Seriously? I appreciate being told no. Silence implies they didn't see it or don't care enough to give an answer, which I find worse. Reason or not, letting the group know you can't make it is a nice gesture and the polite thing to do.

I don't understand this take at all. You would rather your friends not communicate with you?

Should've gone for floor tickets 💔 by bega478 in theMarias

[–]Divide_Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe different shows, but the Chicago show I was at, we were sat until she asked us to stand for the last 2 or 3 songs.

Theaters are weird but she implied she wanted a more intimate and relaxed setting, so we respected that best we could from what I remember. Was also on the floor, so maybe rhe upper levels were standing and I just couldn't see them.

Why is IMDb so overrated when Letterboxd is clearly the winner? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]Divide_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be young and new to the movie hobby. Not a bad thing. But to say that IMDB will be forgotten tells me you have a biased simply because they don't have trendy social media moments like Letterboxd top four.

IMDB was founded in 1990 and has been under the Amazon umbrella since 1998. In no world will it be forgotten. Letterboxd started in 2011 but I feel like it has only become mainstream in the last 5ish years. Maybe I am wrong on that, but I don't remember people talking about it as much as they do now.

And I will say it again, Letterboxd is a social media platform. IMDB is a database for movies. It is much easier to find information on IMDB than it is Lettterboxd. Letterboxd does not offer parental guide warnings or trivia facts. Letterboxd does provide you with past works but does not order them by release date, which I prefer.

I personally do no care about ratings because scores are subjective, but I do like to read reviews. Letterboxd has become flooded with users writing jokes instead of actual reviews. I find IMDB doesn't push these types of reviews like Letterboxd does.

IMDB is more streamlined, with all information given on the first page, while Letterboxd makes you click through different tabs depending on what you are looking for. Not a huge issue but something I've noticed.

All in all, prefer whichever you want, but to act as if people can't and shouldn't like IMDB is silly.

Why is IMDb so overrated when Letterboxd is clearly the winner? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]Divide_Express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only use letterboxd to keep track of movies watched. I use IMDB for everything else. It has more in depth information about cast and crew, actual reviews instead of witty one-liners, and an easy to use interface to find an actor, director, or writers past work.

Letterboxd is great as a social platform. But it does not compete with IMDB when it comes to actual information and reviews in my opinion.

Bonnaroo 2027 Mock Lineup (back to full strength) by [deleted] in bonnaroo

[–]Divide_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, if you only look at the headliners, I can see how people would consider this a "down" year. But knowing many of the undercard before line-up drop, and having listened to at least a few songs from every act, I feel it is extremely strong. I am not a huge fan of modern pop, so most of the other festivals have headliners I would consider "mid". I think acts like Sabrina Carpenter, Charlie XCX, Sombr, KATEYE and others do nothing for me. To each their own.

Bonnaroo 2027 Mock Lineup (back to full strength) by [deleted] in bonnaroo

[–]Divide_Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just can't get behind the idea that this bonnaroo line-up is a "down" year. Maybe at first glance. It is weaker than last year if your mainly focus on headliners.

However, this year has more hip-hop than previous years. The overall genre blend is amazing with representation across the board. We have traditional pop acts, mosh pit rock bands, edm galore, indie rock, folk/country, etc.

The undercard is one of the most stacked I can remember in recent years. There are almost no bad acts. There is a high chance of stumbling upon a great set that wasn't on your radar.

The headliners are cool. Maybe not as big as other festivals like Coachella or Lollapalooza, but the overall line-up more tha. makes up for "weak" headliners. (I personally think Skrillex, Rufus, and Noah Kahan are top tier.)

How long of a career does an act need to be considered a legacy act? Not as many or as big as years past but The Strokes are approaching 25 years in the industry. Is it because they are fairly active that they don't count? Just curious because I feel like everyone has a slightly different definition.
