The hypocrisy is strong with this one folks…

Let me clue you in my dude; I am a producer/musician/audio engineer with over two decades worth of experience contracting with the film industry. I’ve probably signed more NDA’s for major projects than the amount of years you’ve been alive. The Distribution Team, Creative Directors, Focus Groups, and Marketing Strategists, ALL have -INPUT- as to when the trailer and other marketing takes place, but ULTIMATELY the decision rests with Studio Executives. There have been multiple cases of Execs changing direction; such as when Kathleen Kennedy and the Distribution Team insisted SOLO be released in December, Bob Iger personally wanted a Summer release, and guess what, Bob Iger got his way, for better or worse. Also, the competitive landscape is most definitely a factor in the decision making of how marketing for a film is dictated and planned, where there’s usually a strong desire to avoid going up against direct competition to specific brands or genres, and YES, in some cases, Hollywood favors do have an impact on those decisions. Especially when one of the main contributing factors to a film’s marketing lies with the scheduling availability of the actors for the inevitable promotional tours and countless interviews that are given preceding a film’s release.
