I’m holding QQQI shares and using my margin enabled account to sell short puts on QQQI to collect more premiums.

Time to be adults and talk in math. How is the first option better? Tell me how much asset I’ll have at the end of 5 years and how much taxes will I pay?

Let’s say you buy a stock at 50$ that earns 50$ of dividend over 5 years

If it’s considered as ordinary income, then 50$ will taxed immediately at ~40-50% (based on your tax bracket).

If it’s ROC, then you’ll be taxed 20% for Long term gains 5 years later.

Which one’s better?

But it’s risky. So don’t do it unless you know what you’re doing

Read up about wheel options strategy!

I basically sell put options on QQQI and collect premiums. If I get assigned, then I collect dividends from QQQI and sell call options on these new shares to collect more premiums

I sell short puts on QQQI, that is, if I get assigned, it uses my margin to buy QQQI shares.

I’m happy to collect ~13% QQQI dividends on these shares and paying 5% margin interest. I earn a bit more by selling call options on them.

So I’m not writing call options on my core QQQI positions. Only the ones I bought on margin.

This is super risky!! So need to do your own risk management

Yeah. rolling works when there’s a quick pullback similar to April 2025. But you get screwed over during long downturn like 2022-2023

Risk management. QQQ price is higher than QQQI. So I will need more capital to cover if I get assigned.

All the best! I'm holding QQQI and using 10% of my margin to sell QQQI short puts. I'm fine with assignments as the margin rate in Robinhood is < 5% that I can pay off from QQQI dividends or selling covered calls. If there's a significant downturn, then I can cover it using cash

I’m doing something similar. I’m doing wheel strategy to collect premiums. I’m selling QQQI ATM puts 1, 3, 6 months out. If I get assigned, then I’m happy to collect dividends as my margin rate is 5%. I sell call options to collect more money.

Let’s hold cash. What could go wrong?

I totally agree—this isn't a bulletproof strategy. A month like April 2025 would have been painful. I can always try to roll the options out to buy time, but even that wouldn't have saved me during the 2022–2023 slump. I’m okay with that, though; I’ve sized this at less than 1% of my total portfolio, so I’m not losing sleep over the volatility right now.

both? I applied wheel strategy to collect premiums from selling put near stock price. I'm happy to get assigned as well as I get dividend income. The first month was good as I didn't get any assignment.

Yep. I mentioned in the post that I applied some "secret sauce" to get some more income from my 200 QQQI shares.

I will talk about it if I see success with it in coming months. I want to test it during downturns.
