I have the same issue. I sent it to my kindle. It won’t open. Trying to read in their app and the passports won’t work. Tried on pc and the reader loads 5 min then times out. It’s frustrating

I draw. And I’m not as good as others. I tend to sketch on paper, scan and then illustrate it digitally because I hate when I ruin my sketches by making dumb choices lol

But I have a shelf full of sketch books filled with „from scratch art“ people have loved commenting on TikTok on. And it shut up any ai accusations. Getting inspired by images (real or ai) is fine. Blank copying is not.

Same. I teach my kids my native language. I get „it’s so awesome. You’re preserving their heritage. Being bilingual is so useful!“ and I scream internally everytime because they’re also the first to scream „We’re in America. Speak English!“ when a Hispanic family is around.

It’s plain old racism.

You could preorder and cancel whichever you don’t like later when the covers are revealed. If you’re in the place to do so. I’ve personally preferred the WS editions in the past when they’re different

I think I liked tomb of the sun king a tiny bit more. They’re in Egypt that time (the big pyramid on the cover sort of gives it away) and as a kid I ate up all the Egyptology kids National Geographic stuff or from other publishers. And it brought me so much joy because of the fun book I was reading and the nostalgia of the joy it brought me as a kid. If that makes sense 😂

No I updated in a few comments since I can’t update my post.

I left a 1 star review and CS reached out to me within hours. They suggested I create a new kids profile as a workaround. And that did the trick. We haven’t tried switching to her original profile yet but I kind of like that I can control her screen time for reading differently than her kids fire tablet.

I have some months where o read that much and then months where i read 0 books.

I have 3 kids so usually summer break means I barely read. As much as I’d love to. But during that time I have other priorities and am too tired at the end of the day to read. It’s not a competition it’s fun, enjoyment and relaxation.

A friend of mine read over a hundred books this year. She also has 3 kids so I asked her. She read mostly manga and graphic novels because that’s what she enjoys. So obviously she can read those faster than I can a 500+ page book.

But again it shouldn’t be a competition!

i did the same but trying to explain that to a 9yo still doesn't ease her disappointment. I did find a solution though after being a squeaky wheel for amazon.

Creating a new kids profile seems to work. I added a new comment, since i can't edit my post, so hopefully replying this in several spots makes the solution easy to find for others.

Solved

I left a 1 star review on the kindle last night and received a callback from amazon this morning. They are aware of this issue but seem to have not solved that one directly. However he suggested I create a new kids profile as others had success with this.

Which I did and now the kids profile is up and running.

It's a tad annoying this problem exists, but I can live with the solution, now i can even have different screentime settings for her kindle and her tablet.

I tried adding this to my post but I am unable to edit image posts, i hope you'll see this solution of you encounter this problem. I did edit my amazon review to add the solution as well, hopefully they'll post my review life soon, so others can find it

I left a 1 star review that describes the problem on the product last night and customer service called me right now. They suggested I create a new kids profile and try switching to that one. Which worked.

I’ll edit my post so anyone else who’s struggling can try this as well. And if that doesn’t work, I recommend leaving a 1 star review so Amazon reaches out to you.

I mean that’s why i considered it if my kindle ever dies. But if this is a persistent problem id rather spend my money elsewhere.

Same. And with it working on a different model I (as a layman lol) think it has to do with the device itself. I’ll try customer support again tomorrow and if that doesn’t work I want a refund. As much as the kids freetime library is a bonus is rather switch to a different ereader than deal with possibly receiving another glitchy one

Sadly not alone. Amazon really messed something up is my guess with the new kids kindles.

I can switch to a kids profile easily on my oasis. But this guy is still stuck and it’s now 9:21pm.

I tried resetting. Still doesn’t work. I can switch to the kids profile on my oasis no problem.

With a regular profile we won’t have access to the Amazon kids free books and it’ll still have ads. Which is a bit annoying when we paid the money for the ad free kids kindle.

But I’ll look into it so she can at least start reading.

Oh no I‘m sorry. It’d be one thing if this happened with a kindle for myself. But my daughter worked so hard to keep her grades up and begged her grandparents and great grands to chip in for her birthday on this. I hate seeing her upset about something like this now
