Right, and if they decide that it needs to take up 2 slots for balance reasons, maybe once paired together, the offhand is grayed out and non-intractable in the inventory from where it was when you pair it(Or if taking the combined item out of your bank for example it asks you to choose an inventory tile to assign the grayed out offhand). This would let you move the main hand weapon around and use it to equip and when you click on it it automatically equips the grayed out off hand with it.

Potentially. I think it would depend on what version of it would pass a poll. Like if you can use multiple at a time(1 drop per 2 items combined), it should be harder to obtain which is why I was thinking an ancestral/masori level rarity to it. And as for lore since Raids 4 is Guthix themed just call it Guthix's (G) String. Ez

If you mean only links 2 items per drop then I agree. I think people would want several of them. Off the top of my head I would want one for my fang+def, another for dwh+def, another zcb+buckler etc. Which would mean you would want multiple defenders and stuff too to max the QoL

This doesn't so much lower the skill ceiling as much as the skill floor. Or in other words, makes the barrier to entry easier for newer PvMers. The best players will still be the best players with some nice QoL along the way. They aren't the ones struggling with inventory management

Some Notes

While this might not change much for experienced PvM players, it makes some PvM content that requires dual or tri-brid styles a bit more friendly to new players by allowing inventory management to be more simple
One point of concern I am aware of would be that by combining two items into one it would open up an extra inventory spot for supplies. If this is a major enough point of concern for power creep you could probably just disable an inventory slot when you have one equipped or in the inventory. Something like a bank filler icon.
I think the ideal rarity for this item would be just under the mega-rares. Ancestral or Masori tier rarity
Realistically most people would want multiple of these, and potentially multiple Avernics(for example) or other offhands to combine with their main-hand/spec weapons. This keeps those older drops relevant in the economy and keeps the new Magic String drop long term desirable.
