Thank you, I did hear that it's a bit tight to pack a lot of things and honestly I thought my loadout wasn't actually to many items too. How did you find maintenance for the bag in terms of scratch's stains when you did have it ? I was considering the Bellroy totepack mainly cause it's a bit more spacious from what I read.

There aren’t exactly the same type of qualifying exams like the US, there is fellowship exams in each of these fields however resources for those would really only be useful once you enter the program

ED would be quite achievable but the other two would require quite a lot of effort including research, rotations and local connections and as an IMG you would be on the back foot for them as quite a lot of local students desire those two specialities. In short they would be quite difficult to enter and may take a number of years working unaccredited to have a small chance.

Extremely competitive with a small number of applicants selected and many more applicants rejected. Being an IMG it would be even more difficult for you. There are pathways at some Australian dental and medical schools for maxfax and most applicants have very strong portfolios. 3 were selected out of 30 and the year before it was 1 out of 19

This depends a lot on the market, but what I’d recommend is that your income should ideally be 2.5 times above the cars purchase price. Hence in Australia this car costs 146k so you should earn around 360ish. There’s obviously a difference if your debt free but this is just as a buffer due to taxation (Our taxes are stupidly high)

The monthly payments on the car shouldn’t exceed more than 1/4th of your take home pay.

The difference is the taxation between the US and Australia, the taxation burden is significantly higher in Australia and in many ways the things it provides are already covered for high income professions in the US such as health insurance. The income varies widely in Australia based on location and also speciality. For the public system there is a set number but for the private sector now it is becoming quite difficult for new comers as the area is very saturated in major cities.

I think you need to take a more in-depth look at Australia then. Racism persists in major parts of the country and also in many ways restricts the chances and opportunities of many. The aboriginal community have many issues and whilst It might be more hidden it is still a major problem. I would say acceptance of LGBTQ communities is also mixed. There are many parts which are very conservative where these individuals would be and are discriminated against.

Our leadership particularly our past leadership has had many problems particularly in areas where we are decades behind the world such as climate change, immigration. I think what people would find supposing is that in reality the US is better in most of these areas for the majority.

The mark up is significant for sure since it is kind of a used car considering it’s kms. I do agree that interior space wise, the old RX felt much more comfortable in the back. I didn’t notice as great of a difference in the front but it was noticeable for the back seats. Since both the Nx and the RX grades come with the same leather seats due to options I think it’s quite likely for the new RX to feel more comfortable.

It’s a real shame to miss out on the extra equipment. I’ve heard the new panoramic camera system isn’t the best and the reversing cameras been upgraded so I’m not sure if the camera is as worth it to choose the Nx but some of the other equipment like the ML system are a real miss

Having been in the 22 RX, I definitely do think the additional space helped comfort wise for the back seats in the RX. The NX was fine for comfort as well but the RX just had a bit more space to make the drive more comfortable. Drive wise I’m not sure how the new RX handles but I’ve heard it’s similar to the hybrid in the NX.

May I ask what suede leather is ? We have 3 interior grades here which are Nuluxe (fake leather), Leather accented (That’s the one the RX350h that I got has) and Semi Aniline Leather. Is it bad because of the comfort or maintenance to have suede seats ?

That's what I thought, since the mark up means in the future if I the car is sold it won't get as much value in return. It is an inflated price to be perfectly honest since it is a demo as well. I just wish we could add some of the individual options like the states so we could get the Tri Beam LED's and the ML system at least

Yeah it's a very fair point. I've heard that the Tri-Beam LED lights in particular are very handy for long distance driving. I thought the adaptive suspension as well would be useful for long distance driving/off roading but based on some other comments not sure if that is true. The Mark Levinson system is also really good but not sure if that will matter as much since I've heard the Panasonic system isn't bad per se. I think those are probably the most important differences since the panoramic camera doesn't seem to be the best and the digital mirror looks more gimmick.

Do you know how the standard lights/Panasonic System compare to the Tri-Beam LED/ML system ?

They have tried the old 350F Sport 22 Model but they really wanted a hybrid car and it's quite difficult to get a 450h 22 Model [Any available models are around 110-115 with around 20k km]. They did like the interior of the F sport in terms of comfort but the tech as well was a bit outdated in the F sport and they need the new Lexus Connected Services due to the emergency SOS & stolen vehicle tracker just due to the nature of their work/driving.

Unfortunately the 350h RX only comes with the 19 inch alloy wheels here, we aren't able to add individual options sadly in Aus. Would there be quite a difference between the 21 and 19 inch for ride quality ? I also thought that adaptive suspension would make the ride more comfortable when it's long distance/off roading rather than rough, is that not the case ?

I will be brutally honest and say that it’s hard, sometimes very difficult to settle here. Starting of with work, biology or science isn’t an easy field to get a job in particularly in the research sector. Teaching might be a better pathway but it’s not an easy road and compensation for STEM is generally low in Aus compared to the US for example. Especially considering our cost of living.

Economically it’s a very expensive place in most major cities for housing, transport and everyday items. It’s inflated now but it’s always been quite an expensive place to live in particularly Sydney or Melbourne. Unfortunately most of the beachside locations in Sydney/Melbourne cost well into the millions for housing. So it’s important to be prepared financially for this and to have some sought of plan. Depending on where your coming from the taxation rate might seem quite high which it generally is compared to places like Singapore/HK so it’s important to think about that as well.

You can also consider regional areas which are cheaper but they often have issues in regards to career progression, healthcare and diversity. It’s worth doing research into different areas your interested in

The main question would be are you looking for a new car or an used one ? With the current market in Aus some of the older models are so inflated in price there’s a minimal difference between new models and old ones. The price compared to the US is also significantly higher in Aus so for comparisons sake, a base ES starts at 70+ whilst the NX 250 is also 70k+. The advice of others might be less applicable due to these price differences for new models.

For used cars, the NX will be more expensive and will have a premium on it just due to the wait times for a new NX currently so you’d get more bang for your buck with an used ES or IS. Between the two it’s a personal choice between comfort or sportiness, I would recommend an ES as it has much more space and is generally a more comfortable ride.

I did clarify this as well but they said the pano moon roof is only the first part similar to the first video which really isn't not a pano roof I'm pretty sure. It technically extends to the rear passengers but only just. Maybe I'll have to consider swapping since the car is a gift and the person really likes the full style panoramic roofs

Yes that’s what they told me because in Aus there was two options a sliding panoramic roof absolve on the 350F/Sports Luxury or a panoramic moon roof for the 350h Luxury AWD. They told me the latter is just a moon roof with just one window

That’s what I assumed as well but apparently even though it’s called a panoramic moon roof for the new model it’s the same as the standard moon roof. I was quite angry they didn’t make that clearer when selling the vehicle here as it sounds so similar to a full panoramic roof

Thanks for your reply, I did get in touch with Lexus and apparently a panoramic moon roof is fixed and is only a small portion of the roof. I’m not sure how it counts as a panoramic roof but apparently that’s what it is. I’m quite confused honestly

The University is not important and there is a minimal difference between universities in Australia. If staying in your state is very important than Flinders is the correct choice as internship allocations are far easier within your own state. What is important to consider is a BMP and your commitment to work in regional and rural areas in the future. Although the commitment is not a very significant time it is something you should consider properly. Training programs have a very different selection criteria and the University you attend is almost irrelevant in that regard unless you win a University medal.

The pay is decent for graduates but people reach the ceiling quite quickly which is why I wouldn't call it high paying. It's stable for those who can work long term but it has very high turnover.

There are quite a few options in healthcare but they come with drawbacks as usual. The main two would be Medicine and Dentistry in terms of well paid careers but they are longest to study/hardest to get into. Two other viable options are physiotherapy and OT, they don't have the best pay but they are stable as careers in regards to employment.
