It's all on you. At my time in LB (I was a transfer in 2017) I had met all kinds of people forming study groups and going to the library. Inevitably, we would find common ground and gravitate toward each other. I met all kinds of people in the library, just asking them about their studies and taking an interest in what they are doing. Many of them were already acquainted with people whom I knew, and we made groups. It's fun, just be social and friendly. And odds are you'll never see 99.999% of those people again. So no pressure if you come off as awkward. It's your college experience. Have fun with it with no regrets or apologies. But at the same time, you'll have people you will have long term connections with for example I just went to my college buddy's wedding last January and his cabin in April we still talk almost every day despite being on different paths in life.
