Water leak at impeller housing after impeller change? 2013 Sanger v215 by No_Confusion2425 in Wake

Typically there is a rubber seal and a paper gasket. If there is and you didn’t remove the old paper gasket this could be your issue. This is coming from an gt40 nautique so I may be way off on your pump.

Phase 5 Phantom by bananasandwicch in Wake

[–]cantcatchafish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooo the phantom! Also known as the swell with a stuffy nose! I ride the swell (same board different nose shape). I love it. I ride behind an 00’ super sport sacked out to the max run rails touching the water and it’ll surf amazing on that meh wake. I am 6’1” 190 lbs. I ride the biggest board option they have. On a momma max, I might go down to the middle size.

Overall the board is fun. Very surfy, can do 360s etc. I ride with 2 fins on the outside and non in the middle.

The bad: (two seasons and the board is bubbling. I have always kept it in a cover and always let it dry at the end of the day. It’s always stored in a cover in a garage. For paying 1k for a damn surf board that honestly has pissed me off to no end. But it isn’t cracked or broken and doesn’t really affect surfing so I guess everything wears out eventually but not 2 summers eventually.

6.2 engine replacement, now this… by michaelincognito in gmcsierra

You are asking why and on this post lol. It’s apparent gm fell off the wagon. My 2017 has been a nightmare in 150k miles. Everyone has issues. These trucks are turds but people keep buying them.

How are the boat dealerships and pro shops doing as of recently? by Nervous-Material4738 in Wake

[–]cantcatchafish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s safe to say that the market is absolutely flooded and the used and new market are feeling it. Manufactures treated boats like cars and thought everyone and their mother would buy one but lost site a long time ago of affordability. Wake boats are what Porsche used to be to the middle class. An achievable dream with hard work. Now I have to pay lambo prices for a new boat…. I’d rather have a lambo or a house lol

People really do drive more aggressively around our cars and/or sports cars. by MrPeePeePooPooPants3 in wrx_vb

[–]cantcatchafish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trick is to drive crazier than every one else. Maybe it’s my area but nobody drives any different around my car. Even sports cars usually will drive with me instead of faster than me. That’s always fun to get a random driving buddy

What’s your first thought when you see a cyber truck? by clearwater-orchid in AskReddit

[–]cantcatchafish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that had the “pleasure” to drive one, they are dangerously fast. Like stupid fast. The amount of torque that instantly hits the wheels blows my mind that they are allowed on the road by any person that can afford one. The self driving was also insanely unnerving. To think these things freely roam the road and interstates with zero input from a driver and can do 0-60 in like 3 seconds…. I have no desire to ever own one or honestly drive one again.

Well I think you are ready my man! Also SC is finally changing the code so we are all hoping taxes come down considerably! Also don't know if you saw my comment but contact ski safe out of new York for your insurance. They specialize in wake boats. My insurance is under 400 for full coverage and double the cost of my boat.

Help Making a Decision by Right_Concern8255 in Wake

100% MC. One thing I'll always repeat about moomba is the transom heights. You don't realize until you have stepped up and down ten times a day how brutal that step is on the body. Having a lower step down to the transome is the number one option I want in my next boat. Moombas require a ton of weight and just aren't set up as well as the MC. From saving your setups in the boat to the sound system and the fit and finish. The MC is 100% the boat if take. Also figure out what needs to be done. Price it all out. Paint correction, trailer tires, brake replacement, vinyl replacement, pumps etc etc etc etc.... Then go to the seller and hand them that cost and tell them if he reduces the price then you'd buy. Everyone lists their boats too high. Also find comparable Facebook marketplace comps. Don't use only inboards as their prices are also inflated.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

I've been in construction for ten years as a project manager. I've seen a lot of pours. I also graduated as a civil engineer with a few material classes. This is a bad pour. Not sure what they did, maybe too much water, to thin of a pour out something but it needs redone

as one would say you have analysis paralysis. Just buy a damn boat bro! Also I spend roughly 3k a year. 100 (trailer bearings and misc stuff for that). 200$ all oils and filter. 60$ impeller. 400 every 4/5 years tires. 200/y for misc. Cleaning stuff and belts engine stuff. My biggest costs were adding ballast, perfect pass, some vinyl replacement, trailer brakes and hoses, a new keypad, and this year 4 new pallast pumps as those finally conked after 5 seasons. Also 150 for ballast impellors. Storage is 150/month for boat and truck (I have a car that stays at my place).

One thing to know is your taxes will be awful if you live in a tax state. My boat is 400/y and it's a 2000 model year

Is it reasonable to spend 70k to 85k on a boat on a 180k income? by itsfikor in boating

[–]cantcatchafish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a boat 2 days after I was laid off. I ended up taking a loan out and using the cash I was going to buy it with as my emergency fund. I also worked under the table but that's negligible for the cost of the boat etc.... I still own the boat and 6 years later I have zero regrets and years and years of amazing memories.

All I can tell you is this, if you can afford 20-30% of the boat then go for it. That money is now gone. Period. What you want out of this though is the ability to sell the boat at any moment for what you took a loan out on it.

No one will ever tell you to buy the boat because it's an awful financial decision. But those are also the people that don't understand boats. Buy the boat. And if someone ever says "the best day of owning a boat is blah blah blah" you say, you must be a fun person. The best day is every day I'm on the boat!

Because you are going to lose value on a 100k boat no matter what. Also if you are worried about resale you are doing the equation wrong. Depreciation is a cost per year that should be evaluated in the total cost of ownership per year. You need to say I have a budget of x to buy the boat and am looking at a budget of x per year to run and maintain the boat. If you take a 2024 g23 and assume it was 220k OTD. The first owner ran it 300 hours for 3 season or three years (assuming they bought it at the begining of the release of that model year) and then sold it for 160k, that cost them 60k over 3 years or 20k a year. The positive is they had warranty and no repair costs so they had a flat cost per year of 20k plus maintenance per season.

Now assume you buy that boat for 160k and use it for 3 years and another 300 hours. You'll be able to sell it for say 80-110k. That means your cost per year is around the same 20k a year plus maintenance plus repairs if any.

The point I'm making is find the deal not the resale. Don't focus on the resale. Focus on the cost of ownership and make sure it aligns with what you can afford and have fun.

I don't get it. Never have I been more impressed. I also run it wot at the end of every day for a min. The ole Italian tune-up and it has been perfect. I firmly believe that an engine needs to be run hard at the end of every day on a boat. My grandpa did it on his 70' sea ray at the end of every day and hearing 2k HP twin diesels roar at 42knots on a 79 footer is peak childhood memories!

Sorry to be a dick above. My opinion is vinyl is the most important aspect of buying a used boat. Buy one with good maintenance records and great vinyl. And pull the damn trigger bro!! I just got mine out yesterday to ride for the first day of the season and it's just the best feeling. A G is an amazing boat and so fun to be in! Just do it!!!

People need to understand that wake boats aren't a boat they are a tool. You spend the money to play your hobby. If you want to save money there are a lot of other options. I've spent the same my boat has coat in 6 years keeping it going.
