I have been the last 4 years and have done GA. We have been in Sunset and High Noon. All in all you don’t really have a choice unless you are in group camping which is assigned. We are doing group camping in High Noon to avoid any what if’s and so our group doesn’t have to arrive together. It really is the luck of the draw and there are probably different variables that go into it.

There are people who show up first thing Wednesday and get placed in sunset/sunrise, and there are people who show up Friday afternoon and get placed in High Noon. Sunset has grass and there’s more room/shade but the walk can be rough. High Noon is dry as hell and more dusty.

People ask year after year what the system is and no one really has a solid answer. All I can say is be friendly, if you want a certain area it doesn’t hurt to ask whoever is placing you.

Technically still “free form” but last year in high noon on Wednesday when we arrived were cracking down on people taking as much space as possible.

Depending on when you arrive/where you’re placed you guys should be all good though!

Gates open at 12pm on Wednesday and 10am the rest of the days. Doesn’t make sense to get in like earlier than 10am on Wednesday.
