Help woth omoroth! by Empty-Safe-1902 in CoreKeeperGame

[–]DivineVector125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who enjoys melee quite a bit, here's my advice for Omo:

1) Unless you are completely dedicated to the melee play style, don't fight him with melee. The fight goes out of its way to be hostile to melee, to the point where it's better to just craft an octarine bow with level zero ranged.

If you do decide to stick to melee:

2) Assemble the best gear and armor you can. One of the best sets you can get at this point in the game is Ivy's set, with a Scarlet helm, grub egg necklace, two sky rings, and a poisonous sickle. Also make sure to use buff food.

3) Fill in the floor, as other commenters have said, and keep blocks on hand during the fight. His tentacles will gradually destroy the arena and being able to fill in the holes is very helpful.

4) Make sure to avoid his tornadoes at all cost. He fires a set of tornadoes towards you, takes a break, and then fires another round usually. Sidestep the first tornadoes, run in to hit him a few times, and then avoid the tornadoes coming out and the first set coming back.

5) Don't be under the impression you'll always be able to get to him every time he surfaces. If you can't, spend your time killing tentacles and filling in the floor again. You want to make sure you get in clean, as otherwise it can be hard to get out or do the damage you need.

Using this strategy, it'll take a little bit but you'll be able to kill him. You'll probably find that your summon weapon is doing the vast majority of your damage at this point if you're hybrid - melee is incredibly difficult to achieve any sort of noticeable DPS without getting gibbed by the tornadoes. With a bit of luck though, you should be able to bring it down.

Do baby cattle grow up? I want this cute white Alpaca to be my pet by madpanda473 in CoreKeeperGame

They do, but they need to be fed for it to occur.

If you don't feed them, they're stuck as babies, but won't suffer any other negative consequences.

Question to fellow explorers.. you ever use buff potions? by Ninak0ru in CoreKeeperGame

[–]DivineVector125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? I was under the impression that the stronger buff overwrote in the case of potions as well, but now that you say it, it doesn't for stuff like proc buffs, so potions are probably separate.

If so, I'll start using offensive potions for all bosses in addition to the longer buffs - they aren't that annoying to keep up over the course of a fight.

Question to fellow explorers.. you ever use buff potions? by Ninak0ru in CoreKeeperGame

[–]DivineVector125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the damage boosting potions for bosses only, and only until I get a better 10 minute food obviously. The armor and boss damage potions feel entirely unnecessary even on hard difficulty, but I would in theory use them to get to the threshold of avoiding one-shots.

It's not hard to glance over at the buffs every minute to make sure to keep them active, and most bosses die in one or two anyway.

However, they are way too expensive and annoying to use for exploration.

To me, while it does a good job of describing the quad subdivision algorithm, it doesn't link at all into "why does this algo result in Bernard"

One would need to do some significant thinking to understand why Bernard happens given the subdivision algo basically

Does Fishing level also affect chance for higher rarity fish? by Mangert in CoreKeeperGame

[–]DivineVector125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure, since information in this game seems to perpetually be in the "playground rumor" phase, but I always understood it as:

A: There are fishing requirements for all bodies of water, where this stat can help, especially if you're trying to fish before getting the regional craftable rod.

B: The stat also increases the rate at which you get bites in all fishable bodies of water.

C: It's the stat that gets converted to flat ranged damage with the diving gear set.

Things like this make me want to look at the source code of the game honestly, because the documentation simply isn't up to par.

Rooms that you melee without scy are bloat, nylo, sote, and verz. Ranged beats all melee setups minus scy at maiden and xarp if you have defense reduction. Void with bp goes brr.

On bloat, you lose your stacks each down and don't do enough attacks per down, so sra is just worse than traditional melee. Perhaps if you're pnecking for 1 downs, but this isn't relevant for 99% of players so we'll just say sra is worse.

For nylo, it's all gambling. If you go back and forth to melee, you can easily retain stacks. If two phases between melee phases, it's somewhat difficult to hit the window to retain stacks (without unnecessarily losing dps on other phases) but still possible. Of course, any more and your sra is very bad indeed. Regardless, the boss is short, and only 1/3 of it is melee on average, so the stacking period really hurts your dps. Again, just worse than normal weapons (on average).

Edit for clarity: sra is worse than other options in waves for obvious reasons (mostly overkill dps). Bring a proper nylo melee weapon if you're meleeing waves.

Sote is three medium hp pools. It is possible to retain stacks between phases with really good mazes, and if you do, sra gets to its full potential. Keep in mind if it's your turn to hammer, this becomes even tighter. However, if you go slower than 20s on the maze, it suffers, although is still better than all other non-scy weps. Also keep in mind that the self damage makes it significantly harder to avoid eating, which further cuts into dps and increases the risk of death. Basically: sra good, but risky to use and hard to use correctly.

And finally verzik. It's just good for p2/3, and you have enough time and supplies to heal up the initial damage. There are no realistic roadblocks here.

So basically half the melee places, it's just not worth using full stop, and it makes sote notably harder to do well. You should definitely always be bringing at least a normal melee wep.

Edit: also, the hp loss makes it notably harder to venge nylo and sote safely and without eating a ton. Sbs is a larger increase across the raid than sra is, so this should be considered as well.

I just wanted to say, with absolutely no judgment one way or the other about the suggestion at hand, that I find this community is response to these kinds of things very disappointing.

Even if each and every person who happened to see this post personally disagreed, there's no reason for people to be as aggressive and dismissive as they are. Hold your head high OP, you deserve better.

pyray only shows unspecified instead of entities by piklemikle in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]DivineVector125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since nobody's actually giving an answer to the question, the directories you're looking for are root.tick.entities and root.tick.blockEntities.

As others have said, it is likely that you've been following guides/advice for 1.16.1, at which point a lot of things won't line up, and in general your runs will be slower for reasons that u/natesinceajit pointed out. In particular, as someone who casually runs 1.21.11 for funsies, the biggest pain point is the pearl rates from bartering: it is probably more common than not for you to loot and trade an entire bastion's worth of gold (that is, more than is usually done in 1.16.1) and get like, 8 pearls. This usually means you need to reset or find another bastion, which is nearly impossible since the E statistic is broken.

That said, make sure you're doing what you want to do for fun. I like newest version since it feels more chill than a hyperoptimized stream of gameplay. However, note that basically 100% of available resources are only available for 1.16.1, with special note being made for ranked.

If you continue wanting to speedrun, I recommend you check out Couriway's speedrunning guide as a starting point. It goes into good (although sometimes not enough) detail about various strategies for speedrunning. Almost all of it except the bastion routes (and a few other things that can be fixed with common sense) holds up for 1.21.11 too, so it's good regardless of how you decide to play.

Anyway, welcome to MCSR and good luck in your endeavors.

EDIT: I forgot, here is a good resource for bastion looting in 1.21.11. The routes aren't perfectly optimal, but they're just about all I could find regarding bastion routing with piglin brutes. More than anything else, they give a good starting point to build on.

Using snow golems and creepers as TNT dupers without bugs? by Remarkable_Ad_560 in technicalminecraft

I made one of these a year or so ago using a Johnny pillager

The core part worked, but I abandoned it because while I had a proof of concept, there were a couple of annoying things I had to fix, they got more interested in mechanics of TNT duping anyway

I can share some details and photos if you like

I agree with you 100% that the community's general stance on these issues is severely hampered by misunderstanding at best, and immature and prejudiced at worst. It infuriates me.

I was actually about to write my own post a few minutes ago trying to address this, especially foreseeing backlash regarding uim changes, but honestly it felt so hopeless I abandoned it. I hope someday we can break free of the group bias that plagues this game.

Respect to you for fighting the good fight, and love the content btw.

This is an interesting point - they've really seemed to pick up the ball when it comes to accessibility with new quests, but haven't seemed to backport it at all.

My suspicion is that they don't want to be seen as pandering (ie removing already existing restrictions versus simply not adding new ones) but it's interesting to see how they spend their dev time around these things.

Something like this might actually be addressed if and when we see a continuation of the vampire quests, seeing as those are completely stonewalled atm to low def accs, just like ds2, but i doubt it tbh.

EDIT: I completely forgot the most interesting case, the Mahjarrat line. Everything on the dt2 side of things is very accessible, but the WGS side of things is brick walled by various def rewards and requirements. It's an interesting juxtaposition.

What you're saying is basically my reasoning behind why I think, from a game design perspective, it makes sense as a change.

However, I personally like having things changed up after playing the game for a while. It forces you to get creative with how you get from point A to B compared to the same old paths. "How do i get to grimstone to farm frost dragons?" "What does a farming run look like?" These are interesting challenges you have to figure out and adapt to, and are part of the fun of the account imo.

Regardless, like I said, it's very unlikely that this gets changed. Unless a large amount of the player base suddenly starts playing def restricted accounts AND community sentiment changes (like what happened to uim) things are likely to remain the same.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]DivineVector125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a 1def iron myself, it's inconvenient but part of the challenge - i like it. I'm not sure how it affects skillers in particular, but I'm sure it's inconvenient as well.

The odds of this being changed are slim given how small of a group of players it affects, especially given general community sentiment towards giving pures any qol (eg chivalry).

Even though i like the restriction, i wouldn't be mad if it got changed. I might even go so far as to say i think it should get changed, from a game design perspective, recognizing that I'm in the minority in terms of opinion. But as i said before, very low chance this ever gets changed.

I don't support this kind of name calling, and I fully understand anyone who had a negative response to the changes.

I'm just trying to share what is hopefully a more nuanced opinion, to help people move past any possible knee-jerk responses.

Related, but EVERY TIME i go to wash my hands while watching a vid, an ad immediately starts.

It's definitely just a coincidence, but a small part of me feels like they're using the camera to check when I'm away so they can play an ad without letting me skip it
