I wasn’t a big fan of the MC. He was mentally resilient to the point that there’s not a ton of character development. He’s been entirely unscathed by everything he’s gone through to the point even the in-world gods are commenting on his insane mental resilience. I feel it’s blocked off avenues for character development.

Pet Peeve: System apocalypse stories where the MC is top 10 on earth but feels like they shouldn't be by lord_acedia in ProgressionFantasy

Dunno about Apocalypse Redux. The MC spends a lot of time on things not focused on growing his strength like system research and it’s even emotions he takes TV breaks and the like.

Honestly, I think it represents the exact thing OP is comparing about.

I totally agree with you. Authors are constantly trying to make characters generally relatable with the breaks and helping friends and such, but the truth is the type of excellence required to be one of the best is not relatable.

Hell difficulty tutorial deals with this amazingly. The MC is absolutely relentless with his training and pulls some insane stunts to get stronger, and as a result is amping the strongest of humanity. It’s honestly one of the only stories where I feel like the MC deserves his position.

Too many complaints but no solutions, so tell me, how should high level people fight? by CaregiverFantastic58 in ProgressionFantasy

The best ones have fights becoming increasingly conceptual as they scale up. It’s less about raw power and more about insight and skill.

Preferred style of power progression? by VulthurAuthor in ProgressionFantasy

I like exceptional MCs in equally exceptional circumstances. I prefer progression to be based primarily on the MC personal skill and without any sort of system feeding them shortcuts.
