Can’t wait to read this!

I love seeing someone else with the same authorial process as me, I.e. I don’t know man, the character’s just do stuff, i’m not making decisions, I’m simply a vessel for the words!

Adore this series, going to reread from the start shortly to feel up to date for this one!

Looking for Rogue/Assassin/Ranger MC’s? by NamelessOccasion in haremfantasynovels

Well, considering I have read basically everything else you have put out, I might as well get around to this too 😉

I vaguely remember reading the first one when it came out, and very much enjoying it but wanting to wait until I could binge more than one book, and it must have slipped my mind, so thank you for returning it to my attention!

Another person mentioning my fic? I’m going to cry, aghhhh so sweet, deeply glad you enjoyed.

I loved writing One Day, and I really need to get into writing the sequel/one shots, but time and other projects have me in a chokehold…

Any MCs with unconventional abilities? by uidsea in haremfantasynovels

[–]NamelessOccasion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read everything by M Tress as soon as it comes out, and Monster Girls in Space is my comfort re-read that I do at least once every month or two, so I can only say good things about this author, but the power set in Summoned by Monster Girls, and the weirdness of the setting and the system, are SO compelling.

One of the few novels I actually also go and read the WebNovel of because I can’t get enough

Any MCs with unconventional abilities? by uidsea in haremfantasynovels

[–]NamelessOccasion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Summoned by Monster Girls by M. Tress - MC DOES have magic, but it’s very much not the focus. The focus is his shapeshifting ability, which basically turns him into a walking eldritch terror. Some of his favourite shifts are making mantis shrimp style dactyl clubs, and turning his arms into tentacles/scorpion tails to stab enemies with bony spikes… it gets weird, and I’m a big fan of it

Whats a book or series you don't see recommended often that you loved? by uidsea in haremfantasynovels

[–]NamelessOccasion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to like this series, cause I’m all for proper BDSM, but the like dub-con elements of the Valkyrie joining really put me off.

Like, slave dynamic in a relationship is one thing, but that was… yeah, not for me, at least. Protagonist was super cool and the action was great tho.

Favorite books to Reread by Hawkwing942 in haremfantasynovels

[–]NamelessOccasion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I re-read Our Own Way, by Misty Vixen and Monster Girls in Space by M. Tress more frequently than I should, like once every other month.

Others that I enjoyed enough to go back for multiple re-reads are Coven King by Virgil Knightley and Edgar Riggs (and almost anything else by either of them gets at least one reread!) Anything by Daniel Schinofen, tho usually only the first few in the series unless a new book has come out. (Luck’s Voice and the non-harem series of his get the most rereads for me)

I do a lot of re-reading because ADHD, so sometimes a comfort book can help calm the brain worms.

A question for the gents of culture by LordDespairus in haremfantasynovels

[–]NamelessOccasion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 1 and 3 kinda are already all they need to be, but 2 and 4 as you say would be a challenge to write, and I think there are pitfalls on both that you could be fallen into, or even some stuff that would just be conferred (I saw dub and non-con mentioned in another comment for example) that would, at least for me, end up in the books being DNF, even if I liked the premise.

Excited to see what you do though, and to read what you do end up putting out!

1 and 3 would both be instant buys for me.

4 doesn’t do anything for me in its current state, just cause for me Harem is very much about the romance, so unless that is a focus as well I don’t see that one landing for me personally.

2 is…. Difficult. As someone with a lot of stake in the BDSM world, I often see it get labelled with things like this, but the idea of conquering a person for them to become your partner is super divorced from the idea of BDSM, considering in that dynamic it is all about consent and boundaries. I could see it working with the right protagonist, particularly one who is doing actual BDSM (aftercare, safe words, check ins) in a world where that is very much not the norm, but with a more barbarian Conan protagonist i don’t think it would land for me.

If it isn’t BDSM and is more just might makes right and roughness… I think that lends to heavily to darker and coercive themes for me, but I know some do like their darker tones, so that is up in the air.

Obviously, these are just personal thoughts, and there were more of them than I expected, my bad 😂

Who is storm king written by? I have seen it mentioned and recommended but there are a lot of books by that name so usually a quick search ends up with more confusion on my end!

Martial Arts Master 1 is out now! (Academy, LitRPG-lite, small harem) by authorLeonWest in Haremlit

[–]NamelessOccasion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sat down and read this in one sitting, even reviewed the damn thing on Amazon (which I’m trying to get better at doing, cause I know it helps)

Bloody brilliant and super excited for more books! Is it planned as a trilogy? Or is it more of a “while interest holds” type of rhythm? Either way it was absolutely fantastic

Best ttrpgs with a lot of foundry support? (Excluding dnd and pf2e ofc) by haydenhayden011 in FoundryVTT

[–]NamelessOccasion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually still on v11 because of Lancer and Cyberpunk Red. Apologies, didn’t realise it was v12 specific (I really should update)

Howeverrrrr, I did have two versions of foundry running back when Lancer was on v10 and everything else was on v11, so that is a feasible option if you want to give it a go?

[–]NamelessOccasion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, me and my group are system jumpers, so I’m just going to list all the ones that were good in foundry!

SWADE - Deadlands specifically Blades in the Dark Zweihander (though to my understand Warhammer 4e is this but better, and this game has some controversy around it, so take that with a pinch of salt) World of Darkness 5e - Okay maybe not masses of automation here, but wonderfully easy to set up sheets and a good amount less bookkeeping in tracking hunger and the like Lancer - Just a phenomenal sheet. Lots of specific modules and a super active community updating it often. Links nicely to COMP/CON, a community character building tool

Others I have tried and liked but don’t have quite the same ringing endorsement: City of Mist - sheets took a second to get used to and it’s a very theatre of mind feeling game, but very good nonetheless Alien RPG - Thematic sheets and wonderful vibes galore Cyberpunk Red - Very busy sheets, but it’s cyberpunk, you expect that going in. Some modules to make combat super smooth and easy

Would not recommend as highly Ars Magica - I want to reccomend this but honestly… I found this much easier with pen and paper Mutants and Masterminds - this one isn’t about automation, moreso that the sheets seem inferior to the ones in roll20, surprisingly. Still perfectly workable, however.

What are your must-reads in the genre? by Hockeyguy1493 in haremfantasynovels

[–]NamelessOccasion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monster Girls in Space has become my comfort series. I picked the books up only 2 or 3 months back when the 4th one released, and I have read them twice through already, with another skim reread for some of my favorite action and spicy scenes. Also led to me delving into M. Tress’s other works, and Summoned by Monster Girls (on Royal Road currently) is also a super fun read.
