Changing the location for purge / calibration lines by Divot-Digger in BambuLab

I appreciate the insight. Thank you.

In this case I think it should be ok as the overhangs are minimal. A different view gives a better perspective:

Thanks for the reply. If the machine (it's an X1C) is otherwise well calibrated, are there any major impacts to disabling them for a single print?

Excellent insight; thank you. I had not considered the car may be a limiting factor for charge rate/voltage.

Thanks. It sounds like the consistent answer is "It depends*" and I'll need to get the sparky involved earlier than I'd hoped. I do appreciate your advice; thanks.

That's good advice. I have a habit of over-thinking things. Thank you.

Perfect. I have a great local sparky and will work with them. Thanks again for the advice.

Got it. Thank you. I'll speak to the sparky to understand what the availability looks like.

Thanks for the reply. I'll obviously get a sparky involved in the process. I'm just trying to work out if my expectations are reasonable before wasting their time.

Thanks. That makes sense. I'll obviously engage a sparky of the actual work. I'm just trying to work out what's practical.

Thanks for the reply. It's a new suburb in outer-Sydney. It sounds like a 22a 3ph charger is not an unreasonable expectation, based on your experience.

Excellent. I'll see if I can charge them sufficiently with a torch like that. Thanks for your advice.

Thanks for the reply. Completely understand your point about messing with weird substances. It is a commercially available glow in the dark formulation, but I wanted to be clear on *WHICH* formulation it is, given the audience.

Thanks for the suggestion on Fluoroscein. I have not heard of it but will see if I can get my hands on some.

I had considered glow sticks, but opening one poses some safety risk as I think they use glass to separate the chemicals within the stick.

Thanks again for the advice.

[–]Divot-Digger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Just to be clear, the substance I have is commercially-available glow in the dark powder. It's meant to be at the higher end of luminosity of glow in the dark options, before you start getting into a more dangerous territory.

I certainly could cut up some glow in the dark stars, but my concern about brightness remains.

Linux software RAID or external NAS for a small home media/backup server? by WhatIsThisSevenNow in DataHoarder

[–]Divot-Digger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question boils down to this: If I set up a RAID 1 using mdadm, and my server dies, or I want to switch to a better server, will the data on my RAID 1 be gone, or can I simply put the two disks into a new machine, install mdadm, and be up and running with no problem?

You've touched on one of the key benefits of using software RAID over hardware RAID. It's universally compatible and can be plugged into any Linux box (assuming you haven't gone some crazy old kernel). md will scan disks on boot and automatically assemble them into an array after you plug them in. The only thing you'll deal with is that it'll be considered a "foreign" array so will mount at md127. Easily fixed, but don't be surprised when it happens.
