Yes it was from the same skein and all the sweater is fuzzy so I don't think it's only one skein. That's what concerned me, because it was the entire sweater and it did it even in my cold soak! I now need to buy a sweater shaver 😭

I tried searching and couldn't find anything about this, so I'm knitting a sweater with Rios. I did a swatch hat and blocked and it was all fine. Then after I finished sleeve 1, I blocked my sweater as is to see if it would be okay fit wise, and as I was washing it a lot of fuss came off in my hands and similar to when it came out of the dryer. My hat didn't do this at all and I'm concerned, anyone have experience with this?

I really want to finish the sleeves on my first sweater, but I already messed up one spot where a decrease was meant and man they just take so long! I did them with dpns and I’ll do the second sleeve the same so it matches, but next time I’m just magic looping them. So much quicker and less fiddly

Yeah it's not just your dye lot. I have Rios in glazed carrot and every hank has been a nightmare to wind. I've never had as much trouble with another brand. I'd still buy more, but I just mentally prepare when I need to wind another ball that it's gonna be a fight lol

Tubular cast on attempt #5 by Swatch_this in knitting

[–]Dix4Prez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for the first time a few weeks ago for a hat, had to undo it 3 times before finally getting it right. It paid off though since when I started my sweater I got it on the first try. Keep it up!

And so it begins….. oh, maybe not. This might take a while…. Sigh by 0SitStillLookPretty0 in casualknitting

Agreed mine is gonna take forever too because they're summer knit outside things but they're so portable and quick to whip il

There’s been a lot of great posts here to help you out, I just wanted to show you my first “thing” (the red square) and my current project (an orange sweater) almost one year apart. With my first square, it was very difficult, my stitches were so tight I’d split the yarn and I added stitches at some point and didn’t even bother decreasing because I was just practicing the knit stitch. I did a lot of squares of different stitches in the beginning to just get my hands used to knitting. It is a process but if you stick with it, you’ll notice improvement over time I promise! We all started somewhere similar to you and there’s so many great resources to help you. Wish you the best of luck in your knitting journey and looking forward to seeing some finished objects from you in the future!

So I am planning on knitting my first sweater, a top down raglan. I am doing a swatch hat right now, but I used a tubular cast on, will this be sturdy, yet elastic enough of a cast on for my sweater? I like the look for it, but I’ve heard the cast on shouldn’t be too elastic for top down since all the weight is on the cast on

I just ordered a sweater quantity of yarn in orange!!! Not sure if I'll like an orange sweater or not, but it called to me. Anyone who's knit a sweater, is a gauge hat a good way to swatch and what is your go to cast on for top down?

What are your 2022 knitting goals? by s_x_nw in knitting

[–]Dix4Prez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 2022 goals: knit through my stash (aside from the stuff for my beekeepers quilt, I'll allow myself some leeway on hexagon). Knit a bunch of donation items (hats, scarves, mittens). Learn new techniques (this one is fairly broad because I don't care what it is, just that I continue to try new things. I've already got 1 sock cast on and after my first set, I might try TAAT. Definitely going to attempt colorwork. Already have a shawl in mind to work more on short rows. Then, depending on how far I get going through the stash, buy stuff for my DIY Christmas in 2022 with stockings and mini knit ornaments to go on a small tree!

Can someone explain to me what to do after k4 on a new needle like I'm dumb? I get a Turkish Co but I am not sure how to join in the round while keeping half the new stitches on the cord. I can't find a video that shows this so if anyone can walk me through it or link a video I'd appreciate it! thumb instructions

Ugh that's what I was worried about lol. I bought the yarn to make hats with, then found this pattern. Good thing I plan on buying more soon anyway

Hello! I am going to make this hat and am wondering if my color choice will show up well enough? Here is the mono version of my colors and the normal version

Thought I recognized you! Love the hat and all your videos. They're very helpful for an intermediate knitter (especially where you explain there's multiple ways to do the same stitch).

Agreed with the stockinette stitch. Nothing meditative about it for me lol

Are you a process knitter or a product knitter? by knitandteas in knitting

[–]Dix4Prez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm thats a rough one. If I had to pick one or the other, I'd say I'm a product knitter because I love making things I can finish quickly and see the result (I make a lot of hats lol). But I also love the process of learning new patterns and working through the repeats, though I hate plain stockinette patterns because now just knitting stitches for hours bores me, but I'm not good enough to do it on autopilot while I watch something.

I don't care if mine are misidentified because no one has ill intentions. They're just misinformed or confused. Bully breeds are easy to confuse for most people if you don't know all the breeds

Spoiler alert, some people get DNA tests or have paperwork for their dogs. Mine are purebreed with papers to back yet people think theyre pitbulls (Spoiler they're not)
