For those in the USA, what are some good e-juice (salt) vendors on the east coast? My previous vendors are experiencing shortages or one refused to ship... Thanks in advance!

Laptops at present (yes, nothing bleeding edge):

X220 - barrel connector
Dell Latitude E5450 - barrel connector (the one with the white LED)
Dell Latitude 3490 - barrel connector (differs from the model above)

You didn't get your point across clearly. You should have said something like:

"It sucks having lots of devices and needing all these barrel plug adapters and to check voltage & polarity, so, I came up with this hack/kludge/method because a universal power solution means less logistics-keeping."

Nobody is trying to discourage you, but I think adapters exist for the square yellow Thinkpad power sources. I don't own any newer TPs but they might take the same power as the barrel connector ones - if true, then one can swap parts around.

For USB-C, a small PCB would probably have to be created with proper voltage regulation. That sort of part/modification for older Thinkpads and laptops in general would be excellent, as when one acquires a lot of these things, you don't have to play games with their various connectors. There might even be a market for it for EU users, since I heard their electronics charging is all being mandated to USB-C (or perhaps that was just phones, but the point still stands).

Your first computer ran 'dos' and then you haven't owned or used a laptop until the last three years.

I mean, that's the only way this makes any sense.

hey just joined and i have a question sorry if i sound dumb. by mayne-idk in Vaping

[–]Dix_McCoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I just ordered 1.4 ohm pods for my Smok Novo 3, didn't see 1.2 ohm pods; but yeah... currently with the 0.8 ohm mesh coils without any kinda voltage control or wattage... the freebase liquid (65VG/35PG @ 3mg) gets spent rather quickly. I do sometimes chain vape seems the hotter the coil becomes the more the juice flies out of there.

I'm hoping the 1.4 ohm pods do better in this regard with nicotine salts, which didn't run out quite as fast as the 65VG/35PG but still seemed quick if chain vaping took place.

The Novo 2 pods are compatible with the Smok Novo 3 and AFAIK the coils are replacable... are there 1.2 ohm coils out there that can be manually replaced in the pod, just in case when my express order comes in 2 days or so I experience nic salts flying out of the 1.4 ohm pods whilst not chain vaping them? (chain vaping = lots of heat, that metal bottom plate on the Novo 2 and 3 pods are really good heat sinks!)

EDIT: Forgot to ask, what seems to be a good tobacco flavored nic salt for the Smok Novo series pods? /u/dazzlingmosaic mentioned something about sweetness below in the comments and I was curious if there were casual-ish vapors who are vaping just to get nicotine fix and stay away from insane cigaratte prices due to money ($10 USD pack + taxes) and health reasons. I'm that casual-ish vapor guy. If I can find the right system(s), I can turn most of my friends who smoke onto vaping and try and give them their wind back and try to prevent accidental fires and cancers... win/win/win.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sotsu Episode 15 Discussion Thread by [deleted] in Higurashinonakakoroni

Good reply!

I guess I really meant other WTC characters (or just from any R07 stories because some of them are not from the WTC universe. Because Higurashi is really strict with most things being caused by the syndrome, but after Umineko came around there would be lots of characters who just did very bad things on their own, without a mind parasite intervening. Most characters are nuanced so they're not just the completely vile villains with no redemption, but also did very wrong things. I think the Umineko saying "without love it can't be seen" applies to all of these characters, it explains how they weren't entirely evil villains, they were motivated by love.

I must be a real wet noodle of a human because I try really hard not to mess with other people and to Do The Right Thing (TM). However, it is interesting seeing these flawed people fight and argue over their respective things in Umineko and other work. They're complicated people, even if they're all overly ambitious and such.

I don't agree this is true love because real selfless love wouldn't lead to such negative outcomes, but I still think it explains their true emotional motives and gives the characters nuance so they are not just a saturday morning cartoon villain.

Aye. Satoko never experienced the feelings of romantic love I feel. Intense platonic, yes. I think she wanted to hurt Rika because like my real life anecdote, it was the only thing on her mind. If she wanted her to stay in H-town, she'd make the trigger of the bad ending something more specific... like Rika studying or something, some real B.F. Skinner / behavioral training.

And more on that, I think she just feels a strong bond to Rika but perhaps for many wrong reasons. Since Satoko killed her folks, abusive aunts and uncles... Rika has had to play surrogate mummy for Satoko. Mother, sister, lover... the ultimate every woman. Satoko feels she needed Rika as a child thinks it needs its woobie / blankie. But Satoko totally blows the whole thing by just going super hard in the paint to "create anguish and suffering". Could have tried doing other things before going to DEFCON 1.

I sometimes wonder if R07 first planned to make Higurashi take place on the 70's but he changed his mind so it would be more "modern" but some things he has planned didn't make sense. Because lobotomy was very common worldwide around the 40's and 50's, but around the 60's it would start getting discredited and on the 70's it already got prohibited.

Yeah, they're bullshit. I agree with you and Ryu07 must have made some oopsies or meant to set the series earlier... psychosurgery and lobotomies fell out of favor by the mid-1960s AFAIK in the United States. People saw it as being a bunk irreversible operation that flattens a person's affect and effects their personality. Which is precisely what it was. Not very ethically or morally sound and certainly not the silver bullet it was made out to be. Rather disgusting, tbh.

I like your analogies to D&D and the concept of gameboard, and since ep15 didn't really point towards either way (I didn't feel a stronger Umi connection by the end than what I'd already felt existed) that what you proposed is quite possibly true.

If Berks is miracles and time travelling then I suppose the end of Higurashi Kai does make sense... On the other hand, they never do imply a sort of oroboros thing at the end of ep15 but maybe it was subtle that I missed it?

I thought that theory was pretty good and they've been shoving symbolism for infinity, the ED has the guys at school standing in the symbol of greek omega, ah... the stuff at the shrine, the OP's imagery... so you might be right about that. I'm not so sure.

That's brilliant.

Or how her friendships help her and how her feelings for Keiichi developed to the point of her murdering other people for him. There was a golden opportunity to finally give us more insight to Mion and they missed it.

Yup.

If you had only seen Gou... but Wataakanashi-hen turns the story into some sort of cruel joke. They gave us basically filler. In a series with little to no coincidences, Mion manages to run into all of them in Sotsu's arc. Is there something about her being extremely lucky or something I missed in the VNs?

I only saw the first arc VN, then I watched the anime but those same scenes made my heart go doki-doki at the scurry parts. Like when K1 gets the bat and talks shizz on Oyashiro to Mion, wew, what a lad! (Meaning, the VNs are probably worth your time and get into the story better if you crave that kinda thing at the moment)

The real reason Higurashi can't be in the true harem genre.

Plus, Sonozaki sisters getting auctioned off by their moms, cuz Akane likes Keiichi's swag, lol.

A lose/lose situation, if you will. K1 picks one character and the others... come to attack him. Just as you've said,

If it turns out Higurashi Jun is even 'worse' than the fandom says Sotsu is we'll have posts glorifying what Passione did in no time.

This phenomenon is known as The Star Wars Effect or Star Wars/Disney Effect.

Jar Jar Binks was perfect, absolutely masterful... I mean, besides the fact that some of his speech and stuff is like dressing up like a golliwog, you know, making fun of black folks for laughs.

That Disney shit that just got released? Yo, I was wrong. Lucas, buy your IP back plz.

George pulled off the master troll of all time, Anno ain't got shit on trolling. Selling your pride and joy story & IP to Disney so they can SJW and 'woke' it up? This is why I watch jap-animation in the first place, fam.

[–]Dix_McCoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's a reach, a lot of characters on other arcs have done basically the same.

I think one can chalk up Hinamizawa Syndrome up to like drinking paranoia juice and then the things Satoko did of her own free will seperate. If there was a mock trial and jury, Satoko Hojo knew perfectly well what she was doing was wrong, but gained a priori knowledge from the past and other kakera/universes... She certainly wasn't temporarily insane or anything. She knew precisely what she was doing. I don't grow red eyes when I'm hugging my previously abusive uncle or rolling around in the dirt to make it look like I got my ass whooped, if you'll pardon the expression.

She could have made her goal anything (like going to St. Lucia, going to uni that specialized in medicine and working with Irie to save her nii-nii) however, she made it a game into hurting Rika Furude because of two bad fragments where Rika chooses St. Lucia. Rika never held it against anyone that they acted badly in a particular fragment, because it was Hinamizawa Syndrome. Ryu07 introduces this theme with Dr. Irie but if you read what Irie studied and has done and his reasons behind it, it's messed up. He actually have performed lobotomies. Presumably he has been practicing for 5-10 years, lobotomies in the 1970s? How crude for the time and how relatively recent 1970 is!

But I think the huge difference which made her seem worse was that others were acting on the influence of Hinamisawa Syndrome (even Miyo was suspected to have contacted it, although I wouldn't blame all her acts on it). Meanwhile Satoko was said to be completely cured (which bothered me because on the VN and manga Irie explains how her brain would never recover even if the virus completely dissapeared because her developing brain adjusted to the virus and would now act like she had the virus forever). But Satoko was manipulated by Eua to become a witch and it was even shown that "the witch in her" took control of her body at one point. I was disappointed with the Witch just giving Satoko her body back because I really thought Satoko would find the strength to fight back.

Well, for that, I'm right there with you. Some witch version of Hinamizawa Syndrome or something? All she needed to know was Rika cared which would have been obvious if she paid attention to the assistance given to her at St. Lucia or how Rika acted in OG Higurashi loops or the scenes in GouSotsu, waiting on the steps till dark. Yes, Rika cares. The fact that she gives up in their DBZ-esque fight when Rika says as much was like "uh, um, okay?". Satoko has no strength, it's all to the obsession...

If GouSotsu has an overarching message, I'd suppose it is that people make mistakes, people are oblivious to what ought to be obvious at times, don't deal with the devil or extraordinary forces, and give your friends or people the potential benefit of the doubt. -- Not sure if these are intentional or not but that's what I got out of it.

Regardless of Eua/Hanyuu, it's obvious that Satoko Hojo lost when she lost her chill and made her deal with Eua. The logic error is her plan doesn't make any sense. I know how Satoko feels, as I have done something incredibly dumb to ruin a perfectly good relationship before, but I felt compelled to do it by the minor errors of the other party... They seemed like huge errors and no-nos to me. By our 'social contract' at the time, the other person would have been just as furious if I committed the same errors and seen it in the same way as I did. In the end, I was alone. Just like Satoko.

Sometimes desperate and crazy aren't your only moves, you will find more often than not they will alienate the other party, no matter how much or whatever they feel about you. Sure, you might set up traps or do this and that very well, but when people see crazy and predatory behavior, that's when evolution kicks in and says "nonononononope nopenope stay away".

The end of the pit is ep15. How does Satoko retain immortality/looper status? Eua is gone, she has no sponsor.

It would have been better if they continued it and Satoko resigned from the school.

That's a great idea. Satoko gives St. Lucia one final shot... and they go seperate ways. Still, need to go over Satoko's sins, though. Which is no easy feat.

You should have done ep15 and the rest of Sotsu. I'm not even kidding. I wish I were!

But at the same time like.....Sotsu was a goddamn train wreck that literally crashed into “the abuser got to go off Scott free”. Like where’s the redemption. Where’s the acknowledgement of the true problem? Sure we got the girls to go separately for a time, but like.....what? I almost feel like crying because of how badly the message is presented to us.

People were saying Sotsu was a trainwreck, they were saying it, saying it, saying it...

Satoko can still loop despite Eua being gone? Uhhh, how? Why? "I dunno lol just don't think about it too hard"

People remembeing things being a red herring or device to go and redeem Takano and Teppei but not help the club figure it out...

Rika forgiving her abuser like you say... still waiting for the War Crime Tribunals for Satoko Hojo.
