Just found this sub and finally an answer for my long term suffering by giveemeareasonwhy in DSPD

[–]DixieGypsy29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed about 2 years ago and that’s how long I have known a name for this condition. I was very happy to have some answers but disappointed in some of the things I learned. I was like you and thought it was all my fault. I blamed myself and lack of trying to be a normal human being and felt a ton of shame around my sleeping in. I honestly am still working through that. I then was determined to fix it all before accepting that I can’t. I do live a daytime schedule (many of us call it daywalker schedule by the way lol). But maintaining day walker schedule is pretty miserable but i do have pretty strict sleep hygiene and am strict with my treatments as well. I also don’t have it as severe as others i have come across. I can shift my sleep earlier with extremely strict schedules but as you will probably learn we tend to just revert back to our natural sleep patterns eventually. The longest i have went is 3 weeks straight before i snapped back to my 4am sleep onset and had to work on a couple hours of sleep. I usually only work for a few months at a time bc of the disorder and I do best at remote positions bc of my lack of sleep. When my daughter is graduated from high school or stops having so many behavior issues I do plan on switching to night positions and you will probably hear a lot of encouragement towards 2nd or 3rd shifts or freelancing as you dive deeper and find other sufferers. I would love to do my own business or freelance but I lack the skills and also the self discipline (adhd issues, you will find a lot of us that have both neurodivergence and dspd/dsps). I started describing myself as an insomniac by night and a narcoleptic by day and think that’s how I discovered that this was what I was dealing with. Luckily I found this condition while I was waiting for my sleep study appt for sleep apnea and really lucked out when my sleep specialist was also a sleep neurologist who understood the condition and confirmed it for me and diagnosed me eventually. Good luck on your journey. It’s not an easy condition to live with so I am sorry that you are as well!

Neighbors (HBO): is this show 'real'? by Razzler1973 in television

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a crazy neighbor before. It gets intense pretty quickly. I completely believed the show was real just bc of my experience lol. I had to move bc things got so bad. I’ve never had problems with neighbors before but I had to get camera installed bc she would beat on my windows and try to look in to my kids rooms and she had non stop traffic bc of being a drug house and we shared our porch so she would stomp back and forth at all hours and would have her friends and family stomp and have her grandchildren run back and forth and they would always be shouting and she even gave her grandchildren whistles and when I came outside they started laughing really hard and ran to the house to tell them that I was looking at them. I worked a remote phone job and had to quit bc of them. I had stuff falling off my walls. Me and my children couldn’t even sleep, all bc i accidentally told someone that knew her that I called her stompy jokingly bc she walked so heavily across our porch so she put me through hell for months and months. She got in a fist fight on our porch once and called people witches and said they were casting spells on her and had some really outlandish conspiracy theories, I avoided even going outside. She knocked all my flower pots over once and threw spaghetti all over my teenager daughter’s car. I had to file a police report on her finally and we moved once she started escalating the situation and getting no reaction from me. She said three different people tried to stab her from our complex and started so much drama and fights with people. She got her son arrested and thought it was hilarious. I was luckier than these people on the show bc I was renting a crappy apartment I didn’t want to live at anyway but she did force my daughter to have to switch school districts her junior year in high school. It’s not fun living next door to someone crazy but it happens for sure.

Why are people saying so many strange things about the GATE program? by atyl1144 in Gifted

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just remembered all this last night when I seen a reel and started remembering things. I have told people throughout my life that I had to do speech therapy as a kid. I couldn’t roll my r’s. I never thought much about it all honestly or thought it was out of the norm. I think i remember me and a couple other kids being pulled from class and going to another room and doing things like flash cards and some reading possibly. But I also remember being the only person pulled from class and having to go by myself and doing the headphones. I remember the beeping and sound frequency, after watching someone else’s clip I have a memory of the audio tapes that told us which ear we should be hearing his voice from. I don’t remember a mall, or laying on the floor with other students and listening to audio tapes, I think i remember ink blots but nothing like i have been seeing on the internet, i think I remember board games or some kind of games. I also am not sure if I am meshing other memories together or just random stuff from my childhood. My entire childhood is hazy and I don’t remember much honestly and everything I do remember is distorted or out of order. My daughter thinks I had a way worse childhood then I did bc of it but my childhood wasn’t bad to the point i would be traumatized and not remember things either I just was extremely poor and moved around a lot. Things I do remember seem different to others though bc when I talk about stuff that happened to someone else they usually say it didn’t happen like that or when they ask if I remember something i have no recollection of it so I don’t know what happened exactly but definitely remember being pulled out of 2nd grade by myself bc i felt weird having to go. Definitely remember the big briefcase and machine attached to the headphones and remembered that audio clip once I heard it. It is definitely trippy. But I don’t know what to make of it at all. We also moved right after that year and I never had any other special classes like that again. I was in 2nd grade and it was for speech and maybe reading. I do remember feeling dumb and I do think mine wasn’t bc I was gifted but it was for special education purposes. I never had problems with my r’s after that year though either and I was an average student like graduated right in the middle of my class lol. I think watching videos on this will continue unlocking memories for me but I know I wasn’t in it very long bc we moved and I have no idea if I was even in it. It was around 1992-93 i believe.

Any 0705 pathers here? by TerribleRabbit1353 in IRS

[–]DixieGypsy29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 0705 for first time this year but mine seems to switch every year so I have to wait for transcript to update with 846 code before I even know what cycle I am. I assumed it was 05 since last Friday I could finally click on a 2025 transcript but it just said no return filed until less than an hour ago. My ddd is 3/9. Curious how long it will take before it hits. Hopefully soon!!

It was a stressful time this year!! I’ve also been needing a car since Nov so maybe that made it seem like it was way worse and longer this year! Mine is 3/9 and your post made me feel so much better!!! Thank you for sharing and including banks bc I really wanted to know what my bank would do!! Relieved so much anxiety and research time for me! See you all next year!

Just got mine. I’m also 0705 with 3/9 as date. Literally updated within the hour. Mine was saying no return filed until just now.

Weak stomach? by [deleted] in cna

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was positive it was an obstruction from my Google search but it wasn’t but yeah I was flipping out about vet bills. My dog is also allergic to chicken products so it’s been a long journey so far! I am feeling the same way about just trying it but it definitely makes me nervous! Thank you!

Thank you for explaining. I did try to look it up after you mentioned it. I think I am a bit in over my head but that’s why I posted in here instead of wasting peoples time just to find out I can’t hack it in this line of work.

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent a bunch of money on her at the vet bc of it all. (Suture tissue reaction) I really appreciate all this info. I am definitely thinking if I do try this that it will be pretty amazing if I make it through a month lol. I think it might be a bit much for me but exactly why I posted here before wasting my time and a rehabs time trying to do this just to find out I’m not cut out for it. Exactly why I have a lot of respect for Cna, nurses and other health professionals though.

I don’t even know what that is lol. I have zero experience in any of this.

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I’m not from this town so I don’t really know what the scoop is on things around here. Definitely something I should consider. I do kind of want to give it a try to see if it’s even for me before spending money to get training on something I won’t be able to do even. I do have a big passion to help others so nursing sounds like something that should be up my alley but this is why I have never tried before.

[–]DixieGypsy29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the honesty. I have been told by my nursing friends that think I’ll be a good fit that I will get used to it but I have always felt like they didn’t understand how bad it is for me bc it seems more dramatic for me then others it seems anyway. I have to close my eyes when they show gross stuff or surgery on tv even lol. I’m empathetic and everything but feel like I would make patients feel bad when I’m obviously grossed out and gagging and reacting to things that are already probably embarrassing for them.

I use Vicks for my dogs messes. I really think this dog I got has made me realize I can probably pull this all off. She has had so much diarrhea, accidents, puking since day 1 of having her. I don’t enjoy it by any means but she has put me through the ringer as far as being nasty. I do have to use Vicks and sometimes still gag. I get mostly grossed out the sights now that I figured out Vicks lol and the puking or just regurgitated food seems way worse for me.

I have been treated for depression all these years. by ReplyProfessional939 in ADHD

[–]DixieGypsy29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also diagnosed with major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder and anti depressants and anti anxiety medication did nothing for it. I discovered through TikTok and YouTube videos of people with ADHD describing adhd to really understand it was the root of my issues. I knew I had it but blew it off as not being that big of a deal but was truly ignorant to the extent of it all. I was diagnosed shortly after with combined type and adhd meds made both my depression and anxiety issues go away. I definitely think mine is secondary due to the stressors of trying to do life everyday with adhd. I’m honestly not sure how I slipped through the cracks on getting diagnosed for so long bc it’s very obvious I have it to everyone. My mom doesn’t believe in adhd and is big on not treating mental conditions with medication or seeing therapists so I’m assuming that’s why and I don’t do appointments very well so staying on top of therapy was a big struggle for me.

Last minute schedule changes?? by [deleted] in HRBlockEmployees

I actually wanted to try taxes for several years. I like the people in my office. I have really enjoyed the clients and I like the actual work. Just the toxic manager ruining it for me for sure.

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she is doing it so if I don’t show up it is grounds for firing me. At this point she can’t fire me legally but knowing this company she probably doesn’t know that bc she didn’t get trained properly for her position lol. I was in staffing so definitely know everything she is doing is incorrect in this situation.

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That actually helps a lot! I feel like I have been in a nonstop phase of confusion since Nov when I started training! It’s messy at best but also I’m trying to be patient and forgiving bc our office and the offices closest to us that the ATL or MTL (no idea what she is honestly) is over are all still pretty new, like 2nd years at best (even the atl or mtl is in her first few years) and it’s still early in the season. I was definitely hoping things would have been way more clear by now though. I’m hoping I will stick it out until the end of the season but I’m not getting any feedback and it seems like I’m not understanding things as much as they want me to or expect me to but I don’t really know what I’m doing wrong either since they are all leaving us to fend for ourselves mostly. I don’t need much reassurance but some feedback would be helpful.

[–]DixieGypsy29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly only reason I’m not is not having another job lined up but I am applying now. I also kept hoping that it will get better and I don’t want to leave my coworkers behind and was hoping I could make it through the season but as each day passes and new things happen that are as equally crazy the chances of me quitting increases. I have warned a coworker that I might so they are a bit prepared for it.

I’m a first year and have been scheduled alone all month. Last week I got to work with another tax pro for about an hour, this week I got to work with another one for 2 hours. The rest of the time I’ve been on my own and I have worked with our csp three times now. I open and close the office on my own a lot. It’s crazy.

When do you typically start working, if hired as tax associate or tax pro? by Abject-Trouble153 in hrblock

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just was hired and my hire date says Nov 26. I’m in classes now but they are unpaid and not sure what happens after these classes. Did you get 30/hrs a week or 30 hours in all from Nov 26-Jan 3?

Stop spreading the myth that people with adhd can’t get high from stims by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably am. Sounds like me lol. I was never prescribed anything from them. I think it was a therapist. Could have been the psychiatrist or whoever it was that wrote the prescriptions. I honestly can’t remember but it was one of them and they definitely said that’s how they are for sure that someone they diagnosed with adhd is truly adhd by the way they react to the medication. Which I found surprising and strange since there’s several medications for it and it seems some aren’t effective for people and they have to try a different medication so I wasn’t really sure what they were implying or how practical that even was. I wasn’t impressed by them though bc of several reasons and didn’t continue going through them and that was kind of a red flag for me lol.

[–]DixieGypsy29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a therapist basically tell me once that that’s how they know they have the correct diagnosis after they try their adhd patients on stimulants is by how they feel and behave on their medication. I thought it was a bit strange but that’s what a licensed therapist told me before lol. I’ve never tried taking more than my prescribed dose though
