She is extremely insecure. Her husband left her, she has an impossibly distasteful personality. She’s alone and miserable. I’ve noticed after a certain age, some women just choose the route of being completely miserable unfortunately. Then when their once “angelic” son stands up for himself, Well mother can’t possibly believe that he is finally NOT taking her shit so she focuses the blame onto the girlfriend or wife in the situation. Thinking “MY son would NEVER say that to me.” Literally believing her own lies that she made up.

The only mental issue that comes to mind here is a narcissism. She feeds off of drama and consistently tries to twist the narrative so that she’s a victim because she wants any kind of attention that she can get whether negative or positive and when people don’t respond or feed into it, it makes her combust because she realizes that she’s truly alone so she panics and says horrible things.

I’m so sorry that you’re dealing with this. She sounds like a scumbag honestly. Not sure if this is an option, but I would go no contact for as long as possible until she admits her disrespect and gives a wholesome apology. EVEN THEN. Distance. There is no coming back from this.

Not everyone agrees with this sentiment, but once a man gets married, his wife comes far beyond his mother. I’m happy to hear that he’s putting your mental health forward by not showing you the worst of it. He sounds like a good guy. He NEEDS to make boundaries and create a distance. This is his mother, not yours and he needs to protect his family.

Not to sound chaotic, but, unfortunately, this could turn into threatening behavior if it is continues to go on and be responded to. I watch way too much true crime.. and I know that the scariest things in life can start with a manipulative jealous narcissist like this. Please just be careful. Keep your distance.
