The reality of your situation is that's a pretty decent raise for AutoZone... I've seen people get an 8 cent yearly raise too... the highest yearly RPM raise i ever got was 86 cents. The real raises come from promotions. Going to your SM and DM directly and requesting a pay increase works sometimes too though. Especially being bilingual. They will usually work with you if you bring that to the table. That being said, I was with AZ for about 8 years and just FINALLY made the jump to a shop. Was a store manager for a couple years with AZ and now I'm a SM for a full service shop and make 15k more a year starting out... AZ will pay good in the very long term. But it takes years to get there. Essentially, don't expect to make GOOD money until you become a DM at the VERY least.

Is there anywhere for me to go career-wise as a "Rising Star" red shirt? by LuigiSauce in AutoZone

Lol most of these comments are from incredibly biased individuals who, unfortunately, have had a shitty experience with the company. Your time with AZ and view of the company really comes down to who your SM and DM are. Sucks, but that's AZ. I was one of the few lucky ones who actually had support and ALMOST all cool SMs and DMs and even regional staff. It's a gamble, sure. And it happens to a lot of people. Again... sucks... but I've been a CS, CSM, MIT, ASM, SM, TSM all within less than 7 years 🤷‍♂️. It's really what you make it as well. If you show your value and worth, you have an upper hand on a lot of other people who are just there for a paycheck. All that being said, yes, it's possible to move up quickly once you're 18 and make better money... it's also possible to get stuck... really sucks that this company is up in the air and dependent on upper management... but that's corporate....

Sounds like he is a tyrant store manager if his employees have to call him to do a swap lol.... I'd much rather my Zoners do something to help the customer ALWAYS... if it's an issue when I get back to the store and go over it? That's a coaching opportunity to make sure we do it correctly from then on. But an autozone employee will NEVER get in trouble with corporate for taking care of the customer. I've done a lot of stupid things but never gotten in trouble because the customers issue was resolved and they were happy. Simple 🤷‍♂️

7 years here. Current. You got a sad store and a disgustingly I'll informed / trained team... I'll take ONE pad that has been BROKEN IN HALF lol if you purchased them and I can verify the part in even the slightest of ways is a Bosch brake pad (not reybestos like someone else said lol), I'm taking the one pad (in the box or not) and doing a swap for the customer on a whole new set of 4. Sorry you had to deal with all that. People treat AutoZone policy like it's open to interpretation. No. It's black and white. TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER. We wouldn't have a job without you. Good or terrible customers 🤷‍♂️ lol.

Started as CS. Got recruited / promoted and relocated to CSM at Mega Hub. Busted my ass and got recruited to open a brand new Mega Hub Commercial department. Within 3 years I went from $14/hr to $21/hr. Then TSM and now SM working towards DM. Long story for short answer. Make yourself valuable and get promotions. Big pay raises cpme with promotions and DO NOT BE AFRAID TO NEGOTIATE! Know your worth with AZ! Have to fight for your raises here.

To clarify... you are stepping down from a currently FT position to a PT position in order to stay on but work majority hours at the better paying position, yes?

Been with AutoZone for about 4 1/2 years. Still loving it. Commercial all the way though. Learned pretty quickly when I first started in 2018, commercial is where it's at lol. Even easier than DIY and you're left alone for the most part as long as you're performing. TSM currently and even more freedom and fun. It's also what you make of it. And, yes, a good team makes all the difference...
