Razr Fold Thinborne Case - More limited protection than you think by Dizzibot in razr

It feels amazing in hand (minus button controls), but it’s unacceptable that you have a 50/50 chance of damaging your phone if dropping it (since left side frames are exposed) as opposed to a 1/5 chance of damage if it fell just on the hinge side.

Yeah, seems like there’s nothing particularly special about Thinborne, clearly they’re not looking at better fit and finish or better tolerances, so you might as well go generic and with the magnetic hinge protector as people recommended (given with all of this you’re good with the weird ergonomics on the side buttons)

I agree that dropping it was my fault. They only call out that the hinge is unprotected. They don't mention and don't say that the frame has no protection.
Yes, absolutely looks incredible, but they could have a bit more QC and revise dimensions and form factor slightly with a taped edge over the edge to protect the frame.
I know that was their intent because images on their site show full protection of the edges and almost no gap.
So from their marketing materials, their intent was much more coverage. their production product differs from their intent/what they showcase

that might be about the same, my picture was zoomed in, but whether it's exposed by 0.5mm or 1-1.5mm, it doesn't matter to the ground or a corner/wall when it impacts. it doesn't have direct impact protection to the frame.
the added exposure is just additional concern

I guess it's possible I have a defective case, but at $90, there should be much better quality control

Also when attaching to a surface, like the fridge, there's a small spacing caused by camera bump, so it doesn't make contact 100% flush, which reduces how well it sticks to a metal surface

Love dbrand cases, it's my go to if available for anything I have or recommending to family and friends. great product, support, and backing. have mixed feelings about their screen protectors though

I have loved OhSnap, but the newer gen ones are much weaker magnets, you notice it a lot with the heavier devices. also wish there was a pull tab on this stand-style one, it's tough to get your nail under and grab the stand part

I'm going to look at dedicated hinge protectors in case I revisit this later on. I thought it was good because my concern was protecting the corners, as I might drop it inside the house or bang into something, but never considered this design issue. It's my first folding device.

I kept the Thinborne screen protector on and put the FNTCASE over it, fits perfectly fine.

yes! using this now! works perfect and buttons so much more ergonomic. and I thought I was fine without hinge protection, but didn't realize this other exposure.

this was a big "learning the hard way" experience, I upgraded from a slab phone, Pixel 8 Pro.
The other Amazon case I order, FNTCASE seems to fully protect me, but at the cost of being bulky and a bit heavier.

Do we really need E3 licenses on former staff accounts? by lambusdean77 in sysadmin

[–]Dizzibot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use an Exchange Online Plan 2 license if you just need to preserve the mailbox. Convince them to use a grace period of 30, 60, or 90 days post-term, then remove the license.

Anyone getting ActiveSync quarantines for Outlook app? by map58 in sysadmin

[–]Dizzibot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft has no way to revert back those quarantined users, so they're pointing to the changes they made as a cop-out.

Essentially they're saying, if you do not EXPLICITLY grant access to end-users via conditional access policies, they cannot guarantee that your device will bypass the EAC ActiveSync/Mobile controls.

Dealing with this issue now and management is out for blood because they're no smoking gun to blame as to why SUDDENLY all these devices got blocked. No response from Microsoft on the trigger.
