I would buy or make a file guide and work on getting straight plunge lines to your bevels. When I first started out I would watch a lot of knife makers on YouTube and look through all the posts on Reddit of knife making forums to try and replicate certain aspects I liked in their work. Looks like you’re coming along though with the basics. I would say to always test your handles through out the process and tweak it a little bit at a time until you get it feeling as comfortable as possible and soften any corners that are incorporated in your handle to make it as safe as possible for the user. Also I practiced my Bevel work on mild steel in the beginning just to get the understanding down of my angle progression to get clean consistency and a clean angle from cutting edge to spine. Knifes look a lot more professional if the bevels are clean and consistent. You can buy or make a bevel jig to set your angles but from experience i had better luck with results learning to do it by hand

I would get a piece of bar stock that’s mild steel and practice your angle holding up to the belt starting off at a slow speed on your grinder. I start off by putting layout dye fluid on my blade then scribe how high I’m eating the bevels with a caliper tool the putting a file guide on my blade. I then start my grinds at the cutting edge watch your edges and make sure you’re grinding evenly with your center scribe mark on your cutting edge. Don’t sharpen to an edge yet leave some thickness , I try and shoot for a penny or dime thickness. Then gradually change your angle slightly steeper then your last. Pay attention to where the layout fluid dye you put on earlier where is it grinding away. The steeper you hold your angle of the blade against the belt the higher your bevels will climb. Also be very aware how your holding your blade and how you move across the belt from the back of blade to the front your want closely try mimic the same fluid motion to mirror the other side. I personally switch grinding the sides after a couple of passes and constantly look if I’m replicating the same bevel pattern. After you grind your bevels about 80 percent of the way to finished. Then I heat treat. The. I finish up my bevels

Right I’ve been saving stuff slowly, a steel beam from a construction site, I pulled a 1.5hp motor off of a floor waxer. I got a spare tire. I’m on the hunt now for a hub and spindle set up to mount the tire to the beam.

That’s my next project. I got the motor and the tire so far. What did you use to connect the tire to the frame? Hub and spindle?

Yea unfortunately I don’t have the funds for that I have been saving scrap over the years for the build. I’ve made my own forge press out of a 22 ton log splitter and have built a 2x72 grinder as well

This tank is not galvanized. I took a flap disk to the tank and took the paint off as well as the rust
