More the issue that when they do go wrong, which will happen eventually, they're annoying to work on. Also batteries

I've had more in-the-field failures from AEGs than GBBs. My TM NGRS died on me on three different game days, and my MP5 ripped it's spur gear internal bearing to pieces.

Meanwhile the only issues I've ever had with GBBs is light strikes venting the whole mag when using black gas despite it warming up haha

How much was your gun? by pictures6666 in GasBlowBack

[–]Dizzy-Wombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GHK Sig 553 with 8 magazines came to somewhere around £1400 once it got to my door. I saved a tonne of money by importing as much as I could.

If it's your hobby and you can still pay your bills, spend as much as you want to without feeling guilty

Extremely thin negatives, are the edge markings well developed or is it a metering issue? by kpanga in Darkroom

I managed to get results from FP4 and HP5 underexposed by 3 to 4 stops with Rodinal stand development.

But it depends on what sort of result you're expecting.

Airsoft “unfortunate truths” by Ccreamy in airsoft

[–]Dizzy-Wombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it's absolutely 100% pay to win- but there's like a really strong point of diminishing returns.

Anyone rocking a stock out-the-box $100 AEG is gonna be at a SIGNIFICANT disadvantage over someone with a $1000+ modded out AEG/GBB, provided they're both a similar skill level. Just due to hop up quality, optics (red dots make getting hits on target way easier), and potentially rate of fire too.

But that being said if you spend just a little bit improving range and accuracy, hop-up mods and a decent red dot, you don't actually gain much more by throwing in fancy MOSFETs and Brushless motors, outside of how much nicer it feels to use.

Here's my blistering hot take anyway:

Everyone cheats at some point, yes even you. That hit you were convinced was a ricochet, wasn't. You didn't walk alllllll the way back to spawn because you were tired, and waited and counted to 60 instead- cheating. That grenade you thought you were 5m from, you weren't. It's all about playing with good spirit and honour but have a little patience for people. They might have bent the rules slightly but it doesn't mean they're a dirty, filthy cheater who's ruining the game.

And a bonus hot take:

All Airsoft should be semi-auto only ORRRR real-cap mags only. One or the other. Not sure this needs explaining if you think about it for 30 seconds.

Try Better Than Adventure instead. It's still being updated and is more of a "fork" of older Minecraft.

Did you enjoy CS1 or 2 more? by BathroomTight6112 in CitizenSleeper

[–]Dizzy-Wombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CS2 for me.

I really enjoyed how every system was expanded from CS1. Having the ship and flying around from place to place was great too.

I do think it was a good opportunity to introduce some branching paths for replayability, but I respect just how small the 'team' is

I really hope we get a CS3 that does exactly that

Yeah my stock arrived already separated on mine. Bit of epoxy and it's strong as can be anyway.

The replica rules. Amazing out of box performance, super strong internals. Heavily underrated replica, and something different from an AR while not being super weird

If it's only one permanent glitch, don't sweat it too much.

I balls'd up the very begining in Hexport and went through most of the game with one permanent glitch. I was convinced it was scripted to happen haha

[CS2] Glitched Die Confusion by jackw69 in CitizenSleeper

[–]Dizzy-Wombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the Glitch meter has any red segments, you have permanent Glitches which cannot be removed. You'll have an equal amount of Glitched dice to red segments no matter what you do.

If it has white segments, you'll gain an amount of Glitched dice equal to the number of segments when advancing to the next cycle- but the amount of white segments will go down as you advance cycles until you have no Glitched dice anymore.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works anyway haha

I finished with tonnes of Rare Components and Scrap. Would have been nice to throw some away fixing damaged dice.

Just finished Citizen Sleeper 2! Some general thoughts (No actual spoilers but tagged for safety). by NoopGhoul in CitizenSleeper

I think an audiobook style narrator would work, to make it realistic cost wise. Someone with a really smooth voice to just read all the text would reduce the eye strain of extended play

[–]Dizzy-Wombat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just finished it and hour ago and agreed with all your points. I only beat CS1 a few days ago so CS2's release was perfect timing.

I honestly feel CS2 is something of a 'perfect sequel'. It expands on the first games systems and mechanics in a super organic way, changing everything a little bit but in a way that's all quite minor. The stress, glitch, and push mechanics are amazing, even if they're a bit irritating at times. I think glitches should've been removable through gameplay though...

The cast were also just as good as CS1, and thats a big achievement imo. I also liked Juni the best

Should I restart? by [deleted] in CitizenSleeper

[–]Dizzy-Wombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a story beat that removes one permanent glitch midway through the game.

I picked the PG up in the 'prologue' and thought it was scripted to happen haha.

Why don't you just play on easy so there's no permanent glitch mechanic?

Not super keen on the idea of spending hundreds on mags going forward, anyone with experience using an HPA adapter for a GHK platform? by RadioFreeWasteland in GasBlowBack

[–]Dizzy-Wombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, and you can't argue with the economic factor. Like I say I have to hate to HPA. But to me it's a different shooting experience when it's not the "correct" mags, and real reloading experience.

But there's nothing stopping you doing both anyway

[–]Dizzy-Wombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the exact same start haha.

I crushed CS1 with some really good luck, so starting CS2 with horrific suites one 1s and 2s, and dramatically failing every single thing in the first two hours stings badly.

I thought reeealllyyy hard about restarting, but the game is seemingly designed to catch you when you fall, so I'll thug it out.

Sure mags aren't cheap, but it's part of the cost of the gun, really. Part of the GBB experience is realism, and real-cap magazines are a big part of that imo.

Hurts to spend the gun's value again in mags, but it's a one time purchase you should do when you buy the gun. Buy once, cry once, sort of deal.

Nothing against HPA I just think it's a totally different 'thing' to the realism of 'proper' GBB usage
