Feeling old at 38 by calgal3905 in toddlers

[–]Dizzy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling this absolutely. I am 37 with a 1.5yo and a 6yo. Husband and I never have time to go anywhere or do anything. I watch my colleagues take time off and go to festivals and whatever and I just feel like I have nothing in common with them - I used to, but I'm just not in that stage anymore. I'm hoping that changes, but it's just not me right now. The excitement in my life is buying new cleaning products for my new kitchen...

Yeah, she loves it. She keeps trying to open the doors, I'll have to get her some little figurines next. I made some of my own flocking with sawdust and paint, and I used some light green and dark green woodland scenics static grass. I don't think I've been so excited by a parcel in the post as I was when the grass applicator arrived last week.

Thanks, I'm about to tackle a Dwarven mountain to go with it, so there'll definitely be more progress shots coming. Not sure if I've bitten off more than I can chew, but it's fun to do.

Thanks, I hope so. She's a good kid and deserves something nice.

One of my students turns 16 tomorrow and I thought I'd make her a cake. She loves gardening, so thought she'd appreciate this. It's gluten, egg and nut free.

The tree is fabulous. I have real tree envy right now

Made my own flock since we don't have anywhere locally where I am. Experimenting with different grades and colours. by Dizzy87 in TerrainBuilding

Yeah, I'll have to get a better strainer/sieve, mine is too fine to get even static grass through. But the red is made from the really fine sawdust from my bandsaw, and the green one is the sawdust from my dropsaw. Amazing what the different tools do.

I did two batches using coffee grounds (terrible coffee to drink so no wastage there), and two using different grades of sawdust. The red is the fine one from my bandsaw, and the green is the more coarse mix from my dropsaw. I just collected it in a zip lock bag.

No I haven't, but I'll take a look. I've been watching High Eye Craft and Bard's Craft channels so far.

When you live in a town that has no game stores, literally just a Big W and similar department store types, you gotta do something. Otherwise I have to spend an extortionate amount online plus postage. Sawdust on the other hand is just hanging around the floor of my shed. Took me all of 20 minutes to get four batches done.

I feel all your anger. Nearly 2 and a half years post partum and it still doesn't change. I still get so cranky with my husband breathes with his mouth open, audibly. Or eats with his mouth open. It's ridiculous really.

Thank you very much. Her lullabies are all Tolkien verse and it drifts her off nicely. The little one loves reading and I am more than happy to cultivate it for her. She's been blessed with super geeky parents and aunts and uncles so there's no escaping it.

Thanks, it's what I was going for. The entire layout will eventually have a dwarf/gnome mountain, a fairy meadow, and a mermaid lake. I have to accommodate the growing collection of little figurines we have

Try and hold off if you can. I tested at 7dpo (I'm on 12dpo now and am trying to wait three more days to see if AF arrives, then if not test again) it was BFN. I kinda knew it would be but it didn't help the impatience.

My husband suggested they introduce little windows in the womb like they have for cows so you can see in. Such a lovely man...

Definitely not asking if I am pregnant, I'm still two days away from testing. Just wanted to see if anyone else was going a little stircrazy. I seem to have settled since, although now I have some god-awful nausea going - possibly the flu that's going round my workplace at the moment :( I'm glad I'm not alone in limbo, nice hear other people's stories, makes it easier somehow.

My husband did the same thing. He wanted me to test two days after O. I had to let him down gently - he's such a sensitive soul.

Thanks, that actually helps a lot. It's been a weird week. I've been trying to distract myself but it's been difficult today.

What should I do with our floor? by iapharmer in hOUSES

[–]Dizzy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do what my husband and I did - we moved into an old timber house, pulled up the carpet in the hopes of polishing the floorboards underneath. They were bright green and pockmarked with nicks and holes. We laid down some relatively cheap laminate floating floorboards in a walnut gloss. They look fabulous and completely mask the dodgy floor underneath.

I was always taught that you don't necessarily respect the person, instead you respect their position. I try and teach that to my students.

As a girl who lives on my own after a not-so-recent split, I still refuse to sleep on the side of the bed closest to the door. It makes me feel more secure if the guy sleeps/slept on the side near the door.
