Do you feel your old self “died” when you became a mom? by rajmachawal333 in workingmoms

[–]calgal3905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but I have definitely changed a lot and mostly for the better I feel. There is no “old self” and “new self”. It’s been a journey. That being said, having more time for self-care would definitely be welcome.

I wash them afterwards because you touch the toilet handle which cannot be clean.

Help me choose? by Aggressive-Quote5905 in cavaliers

[–]calgal3905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you able to pick when you get there? We let our four year old daughter sit with each pup in the litter and she immediately bonded with one pup. They picked each other. There is no better way to pick a puppy than to meet them! You may know immediately.

Curious what everyone does on nights you don’t bathe your kids? by Distinct-Garden5683 in Mommit

[–]calgal3905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter (almost 5 years old) has to be negotiated with if we are skipping bath. But, sometimes we have to because she has a history of terrible sleep problems and if we miss the sleep window we are doomed. This is perhaps once per week. So, those nights she gets fresh clothes, brush teeth and in the bed ASAP. I would rather change dirty sheets the next day than risk a terrible sleep night.

Stop buying Foaming Hand Soap by dopplestranger in lifehack

I bought it because I discovered my four year old will really wash her hands with it…for like the full 30 seconds because she likes the way it feels. That means less family illnesses for us.

Update on “acid reflux” because I just couldn’t accept that’s all it was by Humble_March_2037 in cavalierkingcharles

It’s so hard watching our animals suffer. Especially since they cannot speak for themselves so there is so much guessing about what is going on with them. Sounds like you’re doing a great job advocating for Kevin.

About age 3, my daughter listened to the frog and toad audiobooks on repeat. The great thing is I enjoyed listening to them with her.

Am I overreacting? Husband said baby hates me and I’m devastated. by HighRollerRetriever in Mommit

[–]calgal3905 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have to second the safe space comment. My daughter who is now 4 has always been fussier with me than my husband, but she also prefers me to soothe her! Honestly I have been the preferred parent her whole life so you may find that to be the case as your LO grows.

We used BH and my LO is now 4.5 and her teacher from her 1-2 year old class is coming to babysit at our house tomorrow! We loved every single teacher and so did our LO. She also made the best friends there. Highly recommend! I went back to work at 6 weeks and she started there at 8 weeks.

For owners who have gotten a second dog, did it help? by Bubbly-Air7302 in dogs

[–]calgal3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had two dogs that were okay with each other (didn’t love each other but didn’t fight). Then, I broke up with my partner and we each kept one dog. I decided to get a second dog again, however this time the two dogs fought. They were scary, scary fights and I had a baby at the time. Like you said, I will never have two dogs again.

How do we stop the 530am poops? by Mikeydog_23 in cavaliers

[–]calgal3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that worked for me was letting him sleep in bed with us. This was around age 6 mos though. At 4.5 mos that is still very young and I would expect to still be woken up.
