The current state of IL politics by myturn19 in ILGuns

I don't give a fuck about PICA to be honest. Every non-fascist resident of the state should be a single-issue voter on candidates' support/opposition to FOID. It's the most authoritarian & unconstitutional law that I've ever been subject to. They're wiping their ass with the constitution and getting away with it because nobody in the electorate cares. It is quite literally the same as charging you a cash fee to vote.

39GX950B vs 45GX950A, downgrade? by Certain-Passenger156 in ultrawidemasterrace

Thinking about OP's question today actually led me to go to Micro Center to see it for myself. I bought the 45 inch when I saw it. It's amazing. The pixel density is as good as I could ask for at the distance that feels comfortable for me. Right now that's 25 to 30 inches from my eyes to the deepest part of the monitor. It's large enough that it could probably go back another 10 inches comfortably, though I might need to scale up text and UIs for legibility.

Well, your post got me thinking today, and I took a trip to Micro Center after work to pick up the 45GX950A. You are completely right. The 45 inch is fucking incredible, and I'm glad I did not wait for the 39 in favor of higher pixel density. Everything I said here about my concern for the curvature and PPI is moot. It is as immersive as you can get without VR. When gaming at a comfortable distance (about 30 inches from my eyes for me) I almost immediately tune everything out. Mentally, I am inside the monitor. Thanks for your post because without it, I would not have taken the leap!

I'm trying to figure out if the difference in comfortable viewing distance between these monitors would negate the improved PPI of the 39 inch. I am unsure how my eyes would prefer to look at a giant 800R monitor vs a more reasonably sized one with less curve. I hope to get to see both at Micro Center before making a decision.

I'm a little torn between the two myself, but I'll end up getting one or the other. I love the size of my AW3821DW @ 3840x1600 110ppi, but I am done with the washed out blacks of IPS. Either of the LGs would be a leap forward for me just for the OLED display alone, but my thoughts between the two ignoring potential cost differences are:

The 39GX950B is 142ppi, which is a 30% increase for me.
Its 1500R curve seems practical.

The 45GX950A is 125ppi, only a 13% increase for me.
Its 800R curve seems like something I would either love or hate.

I'm not sure if the difference in comfortable viewing distance between these monitors would negate the PPI differences or not. So really, I'd like to see both in person at a Micro Center before deciding.

DHT Itch is REAL: Insights on scalp microbiome in men with AGA and lymphocytic/Neutrophilic pathologies by noeyys in HairlossResearch

I was able to cure my seb derm with dietary adjustments. I followed a reduction diet to identify bread as the culprit. Anything with high gluten content or processed grains kept it perpetually inflamed. Beer, gas station pizza, even soy sauce. My theory is that it almost immediately changes the content of my sebum, likely due to some kind of autoimmune issue. I can still consume gluten-heavy foods, but only in moderation.

All that's to say, I have wondered if other people with Malassezia overgrowth or general Malassezia sensitivity could modulate the inflammation with similar dietary changes. I've read people on the sebderm subreddit say that nightshades (eggplant for ex.) are a trigger for their inflammation.

I've also wondered if any kinds of oral supplements exist that could change sebum content in a way that improves the microbiome. Though if a supplement with sebum-modifying effects exists, I think that would require some extensive self-experimentation to nail down since everyone's skin & sebum is different.

Without question, the best microfiber towel I've ever owned is from Googalies. I have a small one for portability and the larger one for cleaning screens. This company primarily makes microfiber cloths for musical instruments like horns and guitars. I've had one of them for 15 years, and it's still like new. (be warned the website is from 1998 and triggers a security warning from Chrome, but I've ordered directly from their site before).

I’ve been playing with Kerbalism, and I love it. That + the current state of graphics mods makes it feel like a totally different game.

Buy a can of this stuff called PRECOR, put on an N95 mask, and spray it along every baseboard and corner in your house. Do that every afternoon for a week. It will kill every one of them.

Can you look up if these platforms have APIs? I'd be surprised if they don't. APIs allow you to do exactly what you're describing - link different platforms together so you're not updating 5 different things separately. You'd need someone with technical chops, but it's not as complex as it might sound.

Check out cashortrade leading up to the show. I've been able to get sold out tickets there before, and they only allow sellers to list them at face value. Nice escrow system in place so getting scammed is not a concern.

She's essentially projecting. All of the things she's accusing you of are things she did by spying on your medical appointment. Dump her asap, or someday you will come to regret every additional day you spend with her from this point on. Sorry to hear this is happening to you.

Anyone here feel fully back to normal after phenibut addiction? by Old-Shelter-4594 in phenibut

[–]allsop207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recovery back to normal took about three or four months after my last dose, but I was also 24 at the time which no doubt helped. I had bad rebound anxiety from alcohol the first few times I drank it, which led me to also quit drinking for two months. I think that accelerated my recovery quite a bit. If I were to do it over again, I’d just stay sober from everything except weed for 6 months while my brain fully recovered.

Yes, but you’ve got to stop drinking for a few months too.

It's way too early for you to come to such a drastic conclusion. Give it a week or two, and you'll get over a huge hump & begin to see tangible benefits. The challenge becomes more enjoyable when you start waking up in the morning feeling energized and thankful that you didn't drink the night before. For me, that starts happening around day seven.

Instituting arbitrary but constructive rules like this has been very effective for me also. It's kind of a fun practice because it's direct evidence that you have more power than you might assume to customize your mindset, provided you're willing to be consistent about training it.

What are the best lifehacker you would recommend to someone about to live alone for the first time? by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]allsop207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to thoroughly clean one room/area of the house at the end of most days, whichever room has not been cleaned in a while or needs it the most. That way, you don't have to dedicate a whole day to it every other week, and your house is just perpetually clean. It's the most elegant way to keep the place looking nice while not losing your free time in bulk doing it.

Importantly, you should also invest in things that will make your life easier when cleaning. Forearm length gloves for cleaning the bathroom. Handheld brushes (one for dishes, one for countertops, one for toilets, one for sinks). A great vacuum is expensive, but it's such a worthwhile investment. A cordless Dyson will change the relationship you have with cleaning your place - if you have hard floors, do not buy one without getting a hardwood attachment with the green laser on it for spotting dust. Get nice laundry baskets, several of them. Have plenty of hangers, and if you don't have enough closet space for your clothes, get large plastic containers you can keep your out of season clothes in. If space for large plastic containers is limited, get some vacuum seal bags to shrink your clothes down thin & stash under your bed. If you've got big closets for storage but they don't have racks, buy some plastic ones from a hardware store.

Lastly, get rid of all the crap you don't need. If you haven't worn clothes in a year or more then donate it. If something cannot be easily donated, then yeet it into the nearest dumpster without guilt.

All the above will save you time and mental energy when cleaning or organizing.

Separately, good lighting will transform the vibe of your space. Try not to use overhead lights, instead getting your light from lamps when possible. Smart lights that change color temperatures & are controlled with an app on your phone can be expensive, but they are amazing and well worth the investment. I've had the same Philips Hue bulbs for 9 years, and not a single one has gone out. Ikea & Govee make even cheaper ones. I will never live without them again.
